Another benefit with AAC is that they aren’t contracted by the government (at least not to my knowledge). Being completely reliant on the commercial side means our pathetic politicians can’t influence them or impact production which maintains a dependable supply. I hope to see AAC grow grow grow… imma supporting them.

Don't think it's anywhere near fragmenting.

    • @cgsimons1187
      @cgsimons1187 6 месяцев назад

I imagine that meaningful fragmentation may take place if it gets somewhere between 1300 - 1400 fps. Possibly a 6" barrel like a G40 or 1911 long slide might get it there.

I handload 180gn XTP to 1400fps using 17gns lil gun and 6.61” lone wolf compensated barrel. This is a great example of what it does downrange at impact area. The XTP seems to hold together but it does peel back a ways.

They tried to rip me off too. Ordered 6 boxes of ammo and they shipped 5. Emailed them and two weeks later I had to call them back to get an answer. They wanted pictures of the original packaging. I had already shot the ammo and threw away the trash, but I sent them the packaging slip. They said too bad, without pictures of the original packaging I was SOL. I told them that I was a Veteran and they would be stealing from one. Their response was, “I don’t care. No pictures, no refund!” I was shocked. I contacted the BBB, filed a complaint and called my bank and filed a dispute for 1 box of ammo, not the whole order. It was $28. They blocked my account. I called them again and asked why. They said that I violated their policy customer guidelines because I filed a dispute and got my money back. I know a few people have had this issue and it is disappointing because I like their products. It is good stuff.

That's the thing, AAC ammo doesn't pretend to get higher numbers. They don't use a 16 inch barrel and use those numbers. You get what you get and it works and it's reasonably priced. I've been buying their 115 gr 9mm xtp for a while now. It's hard to find so I picked up some Winchester white box jhp's recently, but AAC is my favorite ammunition company right now.

Even the Glock 20's 4.6" barrel is considered short for a lot of 10mm load data that I've researched. Typically 5 through 6 inch barrels are shown for the test barrel lengths in 10mm. That ammo is decent with accurate claims. I load my 180 grain XTPs to 1270 fps average out of my Glock 20SF with a 4.6" KKM barrel. The XTP starts to shed a lot of weight nearing 1300 FPS...

While I have been bitching for years about the weak 10mm available, this may not be full power but it's better than a lot of stuff costing double and is loaded with an excellent bullet. Not only is it a good bullet but it's going fast enough to work as designed! Thanks again for the good work Tools!
    On a side note I guessed 60-70 fps slower in the model 29 because that's the difference I see from a 5"1911 to a 4.25" commander 😉

In my 5" 1911 Kimber in 10mm, the 180gr XTP Hornady Custom factory load is moving at 1220fps. It expands and pentrates well. So if you can get the AAC load to go that fast, it is probably optimum for that bullet. In my testing, I got the same results you did. Bottom line, it would make a very dependable self defence round.

A couple nights ago you didn't have one single video up on your channel. I'm not sure if it was "You Tube" messing with you, or if you were re-organizing your channel. But I'm glad to see that you're still here.
I was mind blown by the "Underwood" 38 special video you did. I had always thought "Underwood" & "Buffalo Bore" were the best for a 38' special load. Now I'm wondering if "Buffalo Bore" is underloading their ammo too. I can't wait to see you get around to testing them again. The "Speer Gold Dot" 125gr +p looked to be a waste of money for a +P round.
If I had it to do all over again, I would have bought the 605 instead of that 856'. 5 rounds of 357 are a lot more trust worthy out of a 2" barrel with a lot more ammo options too. Finding a powerful 38 special round isn't easy. What do we have? Buffalo Bore, Remington HTP, Federal Punch and Silver Tips? I'm not feeling so good about the "Underwood" anymore.
If it wasn't for you showing how these brands perform I wouldn't have a clue as to what to C&C. Thanks for all your hard work. You deserve a metal for all your video's. Peace.. Joe

Yessir. The only reason this stuff didn't get the rant was the price/performance factor. It's weak for 10mm but at least they priced it accordingly.😎👊

Great ammo. Performs great and the cost can’t be beat. Perfect for practice and stocking up. Underwood is still my carry ammo, but if I had to this will be fine.

I get the reasons for downloading 10mm to reduce recoil and not having an over power load for carry. It's more than a .40 but not a real 10mm. I'm with you on the fact we need and want REAL 10mm! I still want something more for hunting and certain situations where I feel like I could use all the power and penetration I can get.

If it has a hollow point.... It should be full power. If it's fmj, I'd be happy with "average" power. I feel that to be true with 9mm too. I don't need +P fmj... But my hollow points better be packing heat!

Success. Even for woods carry. A bit more penetration would be better for woods. But self defense this would be extremely effective.
I carried a G29 for woods and a little edc a few years ago. Looks really good from here. Thank you.

Sweet. This ammo makes the G29 a nice carry option. Great find. Now you got me curious if Buffalo Bore can get that much more out of the shorter barrel 🤔 If anything, this AAC would make quality range ammo.
And it helped prove my thought from yesterday -- that XTP rounds only work in the faster calibers.
Great test, Tools. Stay warm. 🔥

Well, I was wondering what to get for practice ammo. I'll get Buffalo Bore for the spicy, duty type rounds but AAC's FMJ rounds might be a decent range practice since they've got the same 1200 FPS rating as these JHPs.

With 10mm Auto, ammunition is made in two general categories: 10mm Lite and 10mm Norma Spec (the original loadings designed specifically to stop violent human threats). Because LE personnel are generally not shooters, they couldn’t handle the heavier recoiling norma spec, thus the lite was developed and ended up in the .40 S&W (trying to keep the message brief, lol). Also, early 10mm guns were breaking… anyway, the only companies I believe making norma spec ammunition are Underwood, Buffalo Bore and Double Tap. Other companies are teetering on it with 180s advertised at 1,250, but that’s probably from a 6-inch (or longer) barrel. IMHO, 180s should be traveling 1,300-1,350 fps. 200s at 1,250 - 1,300 fps. and 165s at 1,400fps … from 5-inch barrels.
I like to see Norma spec velocities from a 5-inch barrel. That was the barrel length on the Bren Ten. With that, I accept the normal loss in velocity when I carry/shoot my XTEN Comp with its 3.8 in barrel nestled in a comped 4.25 in slide.

I have been reloading my own 10mm for the range. I don't load it to the max as I do not want a case to blow out on multiple times fired brass due to the unsupported chamber. But I am not paying 10mm for a 40S&W power level. If I am buying full power 10mm I always look at the stats. I really didn't think an inch of barrel would have that big of a difference in your testing.

Good ammo for guys that want to train a lot using ammo they carry. You can carry that with confidence. I love the XTP bullets. Put enough speed behind it and it'll perform.

Now you need to get you a TNW Survival Carbine in 10mm. Nothing like having a pistol and carbine combo that not only uses the same ammo, but the same magazine as well. And if this 10mm does this decently out of the 29, imagine what it will do out of a 16 in barrel. And it's good to see a successful test after that dismal 38 not so special. Cheers

I would kinda like to see you test some Fiocchi loads in 9mm & 45 ACP one day & im not sure what else you haven't tested yet.. maybe you can do some buffalo bore 9mm, 40 & 45 ACP.. 10mm gold dots or Georgia arms loaded with gold dot projectiles in 10mm would be pretty cool.. i like when you do 556, 7.62×39 30-30 45-70 & 308 testing too
