I love the line "It ain't hard to rock and roll, you know how to move your hips, and you know God is cool with it. some people want the rock, without the roll, but we all know, there's no God without soul." I've always interpreted this as both being about God and about the world more broadly. There are people who try to take the joy and music and love out of religion, and make it about rules and punishment and sin. He's encouraging his kid to have fun and celebrate life because that's what God would want. I don't know what God he prays to, or if he's very religious at all but it's such a beautiful idea. Arcade Fire is an exceptional band. I fell in love with them when I heard their debut album, Funeral. Their song Wake Up from that album was on the trailer for Where the Wild Things Are, but it wasn't in the film itself, regardless, that song and the movie complement each other perfectly. I encourage you to Take a listen if you haven't heard it yet. Anyway, thank you and keep them coming.
