Thanks for watching guys! Now you can change your motor mounts without removing your engine!!! Heres the link to the matco wrench that i found to help me in my case: www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/MEWS14M/14mm-stubby-metric-hex-grip-wrench/
Working on this right now on an07 g35s sedan 6mt . I purchased solid mounts through z1 . When lifting the motor from the oil pan… was there any significant flex on the exhaust or transmission? Asking bc I have longtube headers and a custom coolerworx shifter set up. Didn’t want raising the engine too much to snap anything in place further down the drivetrain. Did you unhook your exhaust at all to get that extra gap?
Joe you're wise by explaining this is not for everyone. If you are building a track car, by all means yes, stiffer is better. My goal is keeping the refined Grand Touring aspects of a G35. I'm more into sound deadening and Audio upgrades. I will go aftermarket on the worn OEM parts as long as they are quality units that don't add NVH. The important thing is have a goal and build to your taste.
Ever since I got these installled I’ll feel some crazy ass vibrations from time to time . They’ll come and go . I feel as if they didn’t get installed correctly or tightened enough . All my suspension upfront is good
Man! I wish you lived in Austin Texas. You make everything look so easy. I'm afraid I'd mess something up. I want to do everything that you do to my G35! #oneday
Hey bro! I’m from the Oxnard area and recognized the parking structure lmao just had a question, when you had a muffler delete on your g35 did you have and problems with getting pulled over? I have an 04 G35 rn planning to just get the muffler off at Juan’s 🙌
Do it bro! I’d recommend a resonator and muffler delete, gets a lot of the drone out from the cabin which is ironic and is pretty loud but will satisfy your loudness for a good while! I didn’t have any problems with the muffler delete, I just knew when and where to drive tame so I wouldn’t get caught!
I bought both of those shorty wrenches and the 14mm hex and no luck. I spent over 20 minutes peeling my hand and that stupid nut on the passenger side won’t come off. At this point I might have to remove the alternator and remove the whole motor mount bracket. This job sucks
I second the Z1 aluminum undershroud! I have one on my G35 sedan and it's great! Oil changes are a breeze taking off the two bolts for the back section only :D
Quick question, just realized on my g37x coupe that my passenger side axle is leaking so it’s going to need to be replaced, should i go OEM ? Or will after market be ok, And if i after market what brands hold up the best thanks 🙏🏽
I’ve heard aftermarket axles are a hit or miss, even if they have lifetime warranty, if they mess up you still have to do the job again if they fail which sucks! I’d personally go oem, z1motorsports has oem value advantage so you can get them a bit cheaper
When you change the motor mounts you already had your Z1 polyurethane transmission mount in there right And you didn't have to disconnect it? I'm just asking because I know the Z1 transmission mount doesn't have a whole lot of flex and I was wondering if that posed a problem to Jack in the motor up a little bit
@@JoeVazquez hey big question, so if I only need driver side mount to be replace, do I need to lose passenger side or I can just remove it by losen one side only??
Wish I saw this video when I did my mounts yesterday I watch a video where I had had take off the whole motor mount bracket and 1 of the bolts didn't want to go back in where It was hard to reach
Yeah man, mine was off the same video! He only took off the bracket because his top bolt was seized but he recommended the same thing that I did, I just found the matco tool helps a ton with stubborn/ stripped bolts
My top bolt was stripped from trying for awhile. I couldn't get the bolt back in on the bracket it went about 3 quarters the way in but the other 3 are tightened pretty tight with lock tight and the other one is sticking out a little but has lock light on it as well ima fix it later just was tired but love the solid mounts greatly paired with the z1 poly trans mount
I believe so as I got z1 Poly motor mount and it does vibrates a lot in the seat, steering wheel and in the gas pedel if that makes sense no rattling just vibrates.
What If only the driver side mount is needed to be replaced, do you gotta lose both mounts in order to change? Or just loosing the driver side is enough to change?
Same way I took them off but with a torque wrench on the end of it, if it’s close enough I’m happy, threadlocker is a must aswell with stiffer motor mounts
This method didn't work for me both top nuts were seized. Lucky the bottoms came off very easy. I had to take off both headers the Ac compressor and don't get me started on the mounts not lining up with the frame holes after all the work done. Also I had to drill the nut on the driver engine mount to get it off smh
Dam that sounds like a nightmare! I figured some people wouldn’t be able to take off the bolts, specially with people living in different places where the climate could play a huge difference!
@@JoeVazquez Yeah wish I lived on the West unfortunately I'm on the East coast so it played a huge roll. Took me 3 days but I got them in tonight, and from my start up and idle this thing feels like a race car lol cant wait to drive it tomorrow. I got the GK tech solid.
@@JoeVazquez man I ended up having to call my buddy over, he dropped the header just to get to the motor mount bracket bolts to take it off. Turns out the top nut wasn’t even that badly stripped I guess it was just the angle or something I couldn’t get the wrench to seat smh. But definitely a very worthwhile mod, maybe the best one I’ve made. Both of my oem mounts were broken in half and one side was even missing the bottom nut.
Make sure you put threadlocker and even some lock washers, the bolts are known to come undone due to vibrations, hence you missing a nut on one of them!
Thanks for watching guys!

Well said brother! 💪
Are after market parts good for the g? Instead of installing oem bc I'm in need of lower control arms and prefer somewhat quality
@@abc876 Do your research. Not all aftermarket parts are of the same quality. Some are better or worse than OEM. Prices are all over the map.

I appreciate it bro seriously
Wondering if that works for the 370z, guess I'll find out. lol thanks for the tip on the diy extended crows foot wrench.
Nooo i replaced the motor mounts and transmission mount at the same time. It wasn't bad. I also did my headers at the same time too.
I did it when the headers were out.
Hell yeah man! I think headers might be the next move on the car!
@@JoeVazquez there is a really good guide here on RUclips. Its really not hard like the forums make it seem.
Yeah I think I’ve seen it actually!!
Any tips on changing the motor and transmission mounts ? My whole motor and tranny shifted

You should invest in a new aluminum under shield maybe a z1 or toll booth Wiley thank me later 🤜🏾🤛🏾
I’m definitely gonna look into the under shield!
I second the Z1 aluminum undershroud! I have one on my G35 sedan and it's great! Oil changes are a breeze taking off the two bolts for the back section only :D
