Well done Ted. My friend and I competed at Extreme Benchrest 2016 and enjoyed meeting you. You might remember us as the two that cleaned up at the raffle and I won the unlimited speed sillouette. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
We will be there again next year and hopefully bringing our A game!
You are the reason we were there in the first place! Your passion for the sport is contageous!!!

Congratulations !!! It is amazing that almost everything we do and what happens around us employs physics. I like how you employ science to break down what takes place in getting the pellet from tin to on target. You then utilized physics to determine how to better get the pellet to where you want on target. You remind me of Matt Damon in that movie "the Martian" when he says something like "I am going to have to science the hell out of this" to survive. Now that you have mastered that particular airgun competition,, have you thought of taking on Field Target ? Rumor has it all of the pigeons in your area are hoping you will :) I also hope FX realizes how many Impacts you just sold for them.

Listen Ted, I have been watching RUclips videos for over over 10 years (including your channel for the past 4 years but I usually just go for the hunting ones) and hand on heart, this is the FIRST comment I have ever written anywhere, EVER. I just genuinely dislike leaving comments, but this video is SOMETHING ELSE!!! Tons of respect for figuring out but more importantly, SHARING your secret. Also I have just found out that you donated your winnings from Pyramid Air Cup 2015 to three young shooters on the spot. YOU ARE THE MAN.

  • @diesect33

Man, I'm a break barrel airgun hobbyist and you're the only cat on here that geek's out like me lol.
I go to obscene levels of testing my pellets reaction to everything from materials to windage and so on. I just enjoy being better than my last shot groups etc. I can't afford pcps yet but once I do I'll probably practice daily for a couple years before ever entertaining the idea of a competition but when I do, I'll win.

You have every right to celebrate as you put the time in and got the result you strived for. Great that you have put on line what it takes too.
If you ever read White Feather, Carlos Hathcock's book, then there is a chapter how he won a shooting comp. All in the wind. He fired all his shots fast in a break in conditions. The conditions he wanted and had waited for.
Long time since I was comp ready for a match. I mean practiced to such a high level than nothing is left to chance. Others will have done it too, so the competitions on. The winner is the one who consistently keeps it all together. There will always be a tiny amount of luck, but without the practice to be a contender then luck alone doesn't win. The work put in before does as thats making your own luck. Big difference. Good shot to comp fit/ready is several levels up.
Anyhow enjoyed the vid, and enjoyed your excitement too. Great tips shared to what it takes. Now you have done it once keep it there as its for others to take your crown. Probably be some young gun who has put the work in after watching your videos!
For the whole of this year you are the champ!

Congratulations Ted! I only have the FX T12 400 .22cal which is my favorite air rifle gun for pest control. I unfortunately don't own a FX Impact but I do have a Hatsan AT44-10 with HUMA regulator .25 cal which I do feel very confident shooting this air rifle and now is my favorite. I am using the JSB Match Diabolo Exact King Diablo Heavy .25 Cal 33.95 Grains and I do love this pellets for long distance shots under windy conditions they work much better on accuracy than the JSB Match Diabolo Exact King .25 Cal, 25.39 Grains. So far I am shooting at 85 yds. hitting the targets. Here in Puerto Rico we have gust winds coming and shifting from all directions too, I see what you are saying on your video by using heavy pellets to stabilize the trajectory pellets and also to be very confident with your rifle, that's a good energy! Thank you for sharing and for the education about your experience with the conditions during the bench rest competition, specially when is coming from the Bench Rest Champion 2016! Practice make perfection! Once again Congratulations!

I agree. The King Heavy's have REALLY improved the accuracy of both my 25 cal. airguns, Benj. Marauder and Airforce Condor. REPEAT, improved BOTH by a wide margin over the other .25 cal. pellets I've used. I'm not close to being your class of shooter, but I don't miss at 50 yards, EVER... Not bad for a shaky senior citizen who remembers TRUMAN as president!

That's how you win Ted! I've never had the honor to go to Aoa BR but when it rains hard or very windy or both I grab my custom kalibrgun cricket and shoot 75 , 100, out to 300 yards some times that's another story, I have a range in my back yard and a table in my dining room/"gun bench shooting table " open my French doors and shoot and shoot and shoot through a chronograph every shot and take notes and practice practice practice. I will be at the Aoa bench rest one day. Many many years of shooting air so I'm ready. Train when the weather is the worst shoot smaller targets then it's easy from there.

GJ man, I think what you do and explain is great for the sport of shooting in general. People tend to leave out windage, doping and FPS. In the Marines we record and calculate every shot. Getting Expert is every Marines desire. That's what the Marines are all about, every Marine a rifleman. You uphold this credo well, for a civilian :-) Congratulations man, you prove that hard work and preparation are worth the effort.

Another nice video Ted and congratulations on your win. The wind topic is bigger than base accuracy as it's less quantifiable and can blow up a group like nothing else.
Your confidence in the Impact from previous vids inspired me to to get my first high end airgun; FX Impact in .25 cal! Only had to wait 6 weeks to get it because many others had the same idea :)
Your point about velocity vs fliers is a great topic to explore.
    Thanks for sharing, cheers!

Brilliant Video Ted! I loved the explanation of your preparation for this Competition! Very well done! Gaining an advantage from doing your home work certainly pays off! A similar story to myself winning the World HFT Championship last year!

My two bits worth...I have followed your lead for years and your vids were what drew me into this sport, albeit $5000 later, your influence is still costing me a lot of money. :-) Your remote mentorship and willingness to share/entertain is greatly appreciated, by all. Yesterday, I skipped goose hunting for a rabbit hunt, which resulted in harvesting 14 cottontails and 5 jack rabbits, outside of 100 yards, with a total of 23 shots. May have to join you fellers @ the competition, this year, to see if I can defray some of the cost of your influence.

Well I'm 1684 in the "like" column. Ted, thanks for the insight and sharing. Congrats on your win and kudos to you for all the time you put in to make it happen. You are a true inspiration and a joy to watch. Thanks for your efforts, they are truly appreciated by more people than you will ever realize. PS don't give the naysayers a moments rebuttal in your videos, they are not even worth your time. They represent such a small part of the air-gunning community, not worth messing with. Great Job and the very best to you and your family. Keep up the great videos! Maybe come back to AGN sometime? miss ya man.

Congratulations on your win. I have shot small bore benchrest with 22LR and I know how hard it is to get a good score.
