Off the road again !!! No doing too well, and that's before the winter sets in. Must be costing some in compensation for late services, not to mention repairs etc. Thanks for catching the action 🇬🇧
Of all the possible derailing scenarios, this is probably the most preferable. Nothing tipped over, caught fire or caused injuries and that is its own blessing. A few hours delay is a small price to pay when it could have been far worse.
Fall weather is comfort weather man good to have things cool off a bit nice switching video the megaloghaulers not used to saying that it's been a while 501 and 503 where have they been
Thank the Lord that their derailments have been small. One exploding tank car and this railroad could be history. This railroad cannot continue to cut corners on track maintenance. There is no excuse. This railroad does several times the business of the Cincinnati Southern RR, where Jawtooth lives. This little railroad has relatively good ties and 132 pound rail, mostly welded. And it has good ballast. They can get secondhand 132 or 136 pound rail for the main and secondhand 115 or 119 pound rail for the secondary and yard tracks. They can get some recycled wood ties and regular wood ties for the worst spots in the track. I don’t pretend that they do what the Florida East Coast has done with new 136 and 141 pound rail, concrete and wood ties, signals, PTC, etc. I don’t pretend that they make the E&LS good for 110 MPH passenger trains and 70 MPH freight trains. But at least make the track good for 25 MPH and keep the trains on the track.
Patch-jobs for locomotives (which means poor advertising from cheapskate execs), some employees having poor people skills (from what I saw on one of Jason's videos) and not very good pay from the reviews I read online about this company. Wouldn't surprise me if they probably took down all of their block signals (to cut costs in maintenance - another cheapskate move) and I also wouldn't be surprised if this cheap railroad company even removed 99% of their automated crossing signals in exchange for wooden crossbucks. Add it all together and it sounds like a slack a$$ make-shift railroad to me. Gives Class 3 railroads a bad name IMO.
That and the railroad company running patch-jobs for units, who also probably took down all of their block signals and removed 99% of their automated crossing signals in exchange for humdrum wooden crossbucks. All in all this sounds like a cheap a$$ railroad company to me. They should change their company name to "Whatever Rail".
@@daveschmitt4499 it's pretty Evelyn if you watch the videos you can see how many cars Rock on the track that having derailed as the yet but probably soon thank you for your comment have a good day
I am glad that they got the locomotive back on easily. These derailments are costly to the small short lines. Hey, what is the deal with that smokestack sitting right at the edge of the road?! That is a disaster waiting to happen. lol
The length of those trains in America are insane. I was posted from the UK to America. Lived for a while in Postage near Kalamazoo. The railroad ran through the middle of the town. Had in to wait for up to a half hour for a train to pass was not unusual. Not unusual but madness just the same.
Hi Jason this is so much fun to watch Chasing trains through a cemetery! then oops!😮 never known so many derailments on a railroad. I think it will keep happening. Great video Jason. ❤😊
I remember when the switcher in my town slightly derailed, they spent 7 hours trying to use the snow and ice to rerail it, then they finally brought a locomotive from the nearest yard. damn gp20cs
I brought a flatbed trailer with a load of manhole covers for a road laid. The drop off was at a pair of trailers next to a brickyard where a switch engine was working. I released the restraints then ran to the bathroom to keep my teeth from drowning. I was in midstream when a loud crash knocked me backwards from the urinal and I couldn’t stop the flow. I almost screamed trying to crimp. Thought the loader dropped the covers on my trailer. Turns out a bad rail dropped beneath a loaded railcar and WHAM! I felt so bad I mopped up the splattered piss from the wall and floor.
Use to have this all the time on the W&LE. They finally got smart and listened to us and started getting used ribbon rail from Amtrak. Still not a very smart railroad to work for.
Sad how Dumb people are allowed to be BOSSES.........If caring employees have suggestions why don't BOSSES listen ..Here you are working on your railway .....It's easier to see a opportunities........wefeel your pains😊😊😊😊😊

I'll take the 67 degrees down here in NW FL over your 47 degrees. On the other hand, most of our trees stay green with the exception of the Hickory trees. We have no railroads in my area, but have two Air Force Basses very close by. Hurlburt AFB, and Eglin AFB, of which Hurlburt is part of Eglin being that it is Aux Field #9. There are 2 fields that the Navy uses, The Army Rangers have field #6 and an outlying area called Camp Rudder. Eglin AFB's total land miles is 824 Sq land miles and water ranges that go to Key West. If that gives you an idea of just how big the Eglin facility really is.
17:20 Glad thathey finally allowed the traffic to cross. Interesting how the rails were not electrically shunted until the vehicle moved and made better electrical contact.
Some SD40s are becoming battery electric while some SD40-2s are being rebuilt to new emissions standards, some to hybrids and now a few as well are becoming battery electric...I have a feeling after you and me are gone off the earth there will be a few SD40s and still a good amount of SD40-2s
Just glad it wasn't in front of your house, but then if it was you could set up a chair in front of your house have a beverage and just watch them rerail the cars and fix the rails
I've got a question, how long does it take for your shirts or cups to be sent out? My husband has a birthday coming up and I want to order him something
At what point does it become more cost prohibitive to replace ties and rail than to constantly rerail the train? Eventually, they're going to have a derail where the rail will separate from the ties and it will have to be replaced, it will cost 100x more then if they just replaced ties and rail to begin with.
With the track conditions as they are through much of Iron Mountain-Kingsford you'd thnik they at least they would replace the rails through the two towns. Much of it looks like it has sunken into the ground or the ties are old and perhaps beyond their life span. I have heard it cost around $1 Million a mile but as tough as it might be to getting federal grants/loans, you'd think they would find away. And perhaps they have but have been turned down. With the increase in traffic, it may be worth some rehab.
Sorry, Jason, I don't it was on NBC news and they were listing things included in a spending bill and when they mentioned the railroad trestle it caught my ear. @@jasonasselin
I used to be able to BUY metal from them, until they sold out to the big national guys. Now when I need metal for a project, I have to buy new and pay shipping, or else try to find it on the street. But now that we have the bins for trash, it won't be on the street anymore, either. Crap.

Good thing they cleared the crossing, the car drivers would have been fit to be tied, just like the track..😂
I used to drive a hi-rail pickup truck. I could put it on the track by myself. Watching the E&LS guys do it was painful.

I like checking out cemeteries, maybe I'll drive over there and take a peek tomorrow.

I suppose it was better realizing those tracks needed an upgrade now, rather then when the other route went down.

Exactly! As bad as their track is, it does amaze that they don't have more derailments.

There was a legendary #501 machine in Mexico in the 1800s, an engineer gave up his life to keep it from blowing up in the town.
