I am cross dominant. right handed but left eye dominant. What I do is just keep both eyes open and let my dominant eye takeover. It takes a little longer than let say closing the eye, but eventually the dominant eye takes over and zeroes in.
Hello..I didn't know about Bow I try to learn how is work I have question about life side and right side if compound bow sight coming with right side can we switch compound bow sight to the left side?
Love the transparency. “First shot in the wall” wow! Thanks for bringing us along on the journey not many people would do that. ElkShape community taking over!!!
Great vid. I started pulling arrows left handed about a month ago. Took a bit to get used to but it's nice to be able to shoot from both sides. For me , it gives me a chance rest up my right arm/shoulder from pulling.
Dan good to see the left handed struggle... first two shots left handed for me I did the same thing exploded two arrows into brick. I thought my sight was way off. Your eyes will thank you once you commit to left hand. I am just getting to the point where I can shoot left handed both eyes open. Good luck!
@@landonharger2041 for me it was well worth it! Shooting with both eyes open is great and not having nearly the eye fatigue. Its also a bit easier to hold the bow out with your "strong" arm. However, it takes time to learn your anchor point on the opposite side of your face such as touching a different point of the nose, chin, and face all feels weird for awhile. Personally it was the right decision for me if you commit to shooting at least 20 shots a day for 3 months it will become second nature to draw and shoot left handed.... as far as consistent anchor it's been a year and a half and I feel I am just getting that down bringing groups from dinner plate 10in ish to base ball ish at 40 yards. However lots of benefits to shooting with your dominant eye especially at longer distance. Make the switch put in the work and you won't regret it.... except for available of left handed gear.... that kinda sucks...
@@landonharger2041 I was comfortable shooting in hunting situation after about 4 months I hunted all last year left handed bow, unfortunately I was more the caller than the shooter elk hunting.
I know this is old so I'm not sure if you'll respond but I'm curious. Did you end up switching to left-handed completely? I shoot left-handed and have for a bit over 20 years but I'm very right eye dominant and just always close my left eye and now that my eyes are aging being in my 40's I'm finding it to be more of a problem. I'm contemplating trying to make the switch to right-handed and my son is so I can use his spare bow to practice with. I'm thinking after hunting season ends, I may give it a go and see if it's possible. I will say the prospect of switching to right-handed is very appealing to me as dealing with being a lefty in archery has been a constant annoyance for me over the years. Using sights upside down and not being able to purchase or even try bows in bow shops has always irritated me. I will say I'm pretty ambidextrous as I use my right hand for many things in other sports and everyday life. I'm just curious how many people successfully make the switch.
@@ElkShape So you are left eye dominant, but were shooting right handed? That is my issue as well and have always had to close my left eye while shooting, would you recommend trying to swap to a left handed bow and retraining myself?
@@landonharger2041 I did switch. In terms of accuracy and body position- huge improvement. Had to reduce weight because left hand not as strong but only by ~10lb (70 down to 60) . I’m guessing few months of shooting I’ll be back at comfortable 70. I got the left RX5 and draw back is smooth and feels at least 5lb easier than what it is. Also strong right hand makes the bow a bit more stable.. overall was very positive.
Relating to this one. After five weeks off from surgery, a new rig and a new release...I was feeling you on the shaking and flinging arrows. Everyday will get better! Loved the ladder down workout. Going on my workout list when I can get back to full workouts.
I am in the process of switching right to left as well. You're doing the things I was doing. Still nocking the arrow with your right hand and everything. Its a tough, but fun challenge. I ran with the Carter Just BCuz to teach myself. Keep it up!
If your right eye keeps taking over you’re probably right eye dominant dude. I’m opposite eye dominant and when I switched over the only part that felt unnatural was drawing back.
No I am not Right eye dominant. I am Left eye dominant and have been shooting Right handed for 20 years. It's not gonna happen overnight, which is why we're showing y'all the struggle...
Ok… I’m left handed but right eyed dominant. Watching this makes me feel better. I am just getting into archery and all the folks I talked with told me to just try and learn right handed. And while everything in me told me to go with what felt natural (left handed), I went with right and while I am still new, I am already feeling comfortable shooting righty.
Im cross-eye dominant, 38 years old beginner archer... i find it hard to believe that i could learn to draw with left hand at this stage, its just not as fine "tuned" as right. Would you say its better option to just stick with eye or hand dominance at this stage? My goal is recreational archery and hunting.
Tough call that ONLY you can make man - It has not been a smooth switch for me, but I am enjoying shooting both right and left handed. Do what's best for you.
at 90 yards you are right in there, at 110 about a 8-9" group... - are you sure you want to shoot left handed? You are shooting really well man... It aint broke, but I am interested to see what you can do left handed by mid summer.
Don't be confused - it's simply not easy to change over to LH for me and I am just testing the waters and showing the process. I am open to getting better if that means shooting LH but obviously feel pretty confident RH. Thanks for watching.
@@ElkShape I must have missed why you did it to begin with. If its not an eye dominance issue and your rh why do it? Whats weird for me is I'm left handed shoot left handed and was left eye dominate. Glad your confident enough to shoot left handed with that house in the background. I would have shot an arrow into their door. Lol.

What’s the purpose in swapping to left handed?
eye dominance
@@ElkShape So you are left eye dominant, but were shooting right handed? That is my issue as well and have always had to close my left eye while shooting, would you recommend trying to swap to a left handed bow and retraining myself?
Why is the change to left if you’re right eye dominant? I’m left eye shooting right.. thinking of switching but not sure

Don’t burn the rt handed bows. I’m same draw length as you 👍🏻
What about the right handed arrows?

Where did you get the translucent eye block for cap bill?
Can't wait to buy those vanes! Been almost pulling the trigger on some new vanes for the past couple months and glad I waited!
Oh thank you so much for your support!
Be hucking LEFT HANDED BOMBS in no time. I believe in the process. 🏹🏹
Are you left or right eye dominant?
Left
I told you to commit and it will come. I’m still shooting both ways and love being able to do so.
Nice job thanks for sharing. Quick question what your thought about single pin for hunting?
Tim here.. but I know Dan endorses a single pin for hunting. He swaps back and forth between multiple and single pin setups.
Why you shooting left being right. You’ve probably explained on a video but I can’t find it 🤦🏼♂️

if your shooting good right handed...why switch to the left hand?
dont try to fit something that ain't broke?
It's not going to hurt anything being able to do both in my opinion.
