  • After a request from a subscriber to make a full walk around the car I made a video. This race car was bought in 2014 and had started it's race car progression in 2016. The you tube channel started in 2018. many things had already been done to the car. Now it's time to catch everyone up on what this car is all about.

    @markb3480 3 года назад +4

    I’ve had 6 e46 m3 and I have had charged versions of s54 and m54 and this 330ci of yours would murder the m3 on the road because of the power delivery, the big power of the s54 comes at the top of the rpm and the supercharger engine has a very linear torque and power delivery right across the rpm range and because of this it’s more flexible and power is available instantly in every gear at all times
    The m3 has to be worked to make power

    There is like 7 mm spacing between bumper and headlights from the factory. I'm doing a M3 front on my 330i and own an M3 to compare. Most of it comes from the sealing. If you don't want to modify your hood, it is possible to bend your bumper with hot air.

    • @TenzaMotorsports
      @TenzaMotorsports  4 года назад

      I’m sure there is a way to bring your bumper closer to your hood. I just haven’t looked into. I really don’t notice it. Most people in person don’t notice unless it’s pointed out.

    Do you believe the M54 (naturally aspirated) really requires premium gas? I use 87 (regular) in mine and notice zero difference versus using 93 (premium). I'm sure you use only premium or e85 in yours since it's supercharged, but my car is stock other than ebay headers and runs great on regular. I also manual swapped it myself.
    My reasoning is it's only 10.2:1 compression ratio, doesn't really seem like it needs premium.

    • @TenzaMotorsports
      @TenzaMotorsports  4 года назад

      It’s tuned for the higher octane. Wether you can feel it or not, there is a reason they recommend that gas. To me, it’s not worth risking anything for the small price difference between the others. I don’t think anything bad will happen, but again, i wouldn't purposely test it.

  • @LeHeuZaHer
    @LeHeuZaHer 4 года назад +3

    Did you by any chance keep stock internals (I.E cams, pistons etc.) with going up to 400 horsepower? I’ve got a 330ci with the M sport package, and I was looking of going up to around the same horsepower. many forums etc. say you should be ok without forging the internals, but I’m struggling to get answers with it not being an M3.
    I have heard that it might be best to get new cams though, so was this the same for you or did you keep the majority of it stock?
    Sorry for the long winded question, it’s just nice to see a 330ci at the horsepower that I’m aiming at.
    I know just going out and buying an M3 is an easier route, but I bought this 330ci for the fact it is absolutely immaculate, the previous owner completely stripped, repaired, restored and rebuilt the car, and for an ‘02 E46 it doesn’t have a spot of rust, or a blemish in the paint/bodywork now, and with that topped with the low mileage, it’s just too nice of a car for me to change.

    • @TenzaMotorsports
      @TenzaMotorsports  4 года назад +2

      Everything is stock on the block and heads. I have supporting mods. Upgraded radiator, thermostat, and so on. It’s just the supercharger kit with the high altitude over drive pulley.

      @LeHeuZaHer 4 года назад +2

      Tenza Motorsports thanks mate, I appreciate the quick reply!
      I’m looking to turbo/twin turbo but it’s just nice knowing that I can focus on things such as oil, cooling, fuel etc. rather than having to completely strip down the block.
      I’d prefer to do that if I went for really high power, but I think a nice, reliable 400-425 would be perfectly fine for now.

      I was beating M3 for around $2,500 more than I paid for the car. Weight reduction (which is free), ksport suspension ~$1100, Avant garde M359 wheels~1,000, and a set of used racing tires~$400.
      The only way I would track build an M3 is if the car was in rough shape. I wouldn’t want to take a good $18k+ car and tear it down for racing. I’d find one for under 7k-ish

      I was still learning at the time. I didn't feel comfortable enough yet to take on a turbo project. The Supercharger and the turbo were very close in price. I wasn't going to cheap out on parts if I had done a turbo and I believe when it was all said and done, the turbo would have been around $1,000 cheaper.
      The other deciding factor was tuning, no one in my area tunes BMW and so then I'm having to transport the car to get it tuned. Then just hope that the tune is right and doesn't need tweaking, so I don't have to take it back after getting it home.
