This is MY band from the 80s.....I rocked with Priest all throughout the 80s and into the 90s. High school was the best with Priest and we SCREEEEEMd for vengeance!!!!
Man, Dave Holland had such a beautiful way of drumming, the shift he did from bluesy / funky drumming to metal was totally out of this world. The man had a incredibly steady beat and the way he added little accents to his drumming not only added beauty to his drumming parts it also added technicality to them.
@@nsgobbi being a good drummer is not about how fast you can play, the whole thing is about creating a great rythim section for a melodic line and keeping a good tempo. Adding accents and personality adds to the technicality, being technical is not being able to plah fast. You could play fast and yet be like Lars Ulrich. Scott Travis is a great player, but doesn't have much soul man. He has a very violent sound which fits what Priest did in the 90s and now but I don't think the early Priest material would benefit from that.
A few years ago I played this song for my Aunt, who sang in a church choir for most of her life, and she sat very still throughout most of the song. Almost at the end she looked up at me and said "You have no idea how much effort the singer put into his voice." I take her word for it.
Can you believe this was 1982!?!? This album sounds HUGE with that low, deep bass that No other British Metal band was bringing... This album was kicking ass *years* ahead of its time and still melts faces today!
This whole album just blows, blows me away with awesome metal music. If I could go back in time and bring them to today. The whole world would be in shock!

Priest was always my favorite metal band as a kid, but by the time i got old enough to go see them live Halford had already split with them. I couldve went several times to see the Halford clone, but couldnt bring myself to. Finally 04 Ozzfest the played withe every member that recorded this album(except Holland) but what a show! They are straight up metal Royalty! They ended up playing for two and a half hours, because the crowd in Dallas wouldnt let em leave! I havent been to any big concerts since then, because i feel i can (musically)die a happy man! Long live JP
