R.I.P. Treat Williams. You should pick up Criterion's SMOOTH TALK, which features a great performance by him. Warner Archive also released PRINCE OF THE CITY, another great movie.
Fun Fact: DEAD HEAT was written by Terry Black, the brother of Shane Black, the writer of LETHAL WEAPON, MONSTER SQUAD, THE LAST BOY SCOUT, LAST ACTION HERO, THE NICE GUYS, KISS KISS BANG BANG, IRON MAN 3 and THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT!
Hi Graham. My sale order hasn’t shipped to me yet. It will come. I love Showgirls, look forward to perhaps you sharing your thoughts on it. It’s a blast of a film and generally I view it as a parody. Saying it’s Over the Top is underselling it. Mad props to Verhoeven who had the balls to turn up and accept his Razzie award for Showgirls. I have the Umbrella Blu-ray which comes with the documentary “you don’t Nomi” which is a celebration of 20 years of Showgirls and a redemption for actress Elizabeth Berkley as she turns up to a anniversary screening of the film.
That's interesting that she showed up. Brad Henderson (who left VS and works with Terror Vision now) worked hard on this release for a good while and he knows her. He said she'd never discuss it, ergo she's not on the release, which is a shame. I think getting a VSU is a redemption of the film as well.
Shame is out??? Damn, I waited on that one because I wasn't sure if it was going to ship with my order and I thought my order might've been delayed if I added it. What a.....shame! Saw things like Miami Connection and Road House sold out, so happy I got those a while ago. I feel VS should have some copies of Miami Connection always in stick as its such a flagship film for what they are about. That back cover for Ninja Claws I have in display, its so good! :D I wasn't sure about it but I finally purchased my first VSL title with the Apocalypse tetralogy. They look interesting at the very least but I hope they are more likely to sit proud in my collection than Goodbye 20th Century.
I have not bought a VS title for a while, mostly due to money and priority but I'd love to get Ticks and catch up on some VSU titles. I would not mind that Blade in the Dark and some of those Deaf Croc Russian films. We'll see how we go, hopefully I can pick them up at some point
@@manvfilm so much good stuff coming out from so many labels but you can't get everything unfortunately. But it's nice to be spoilt for choice I guess.
I got a similar size box. It was all for me. 😄 Saw Show girls last night. Oh boy, I see why it was sooooo panned back in the day. It's something else. Yes, it was, um, enjoyable. It's one I think I'm going to love on the second viewing. Also, watched "they sleep at dawn" it's a shot on video film and you know the quality to expect. But among SOV films it's a gem! Check that one out.
Showgirls is a hilarious film. Ive seen it like 3 times. I will wait with getting this release until its on sale and hopefully it wont sell out before that.
@@standinsilence I don't know if they ever put VSP tiles on sale - other than the member price. I could be wrong about that but if you're a fan I wouldn't wait. That packaging is well worth the price alone. The picture is fantastic.

@@karlleibfacher5367 Yes maybe you're right that VSPs are never on sale. I spent like £200 on this VS sale and like you I also got Fanny Hill. The first thing I did on this sale was ordering Cthulhu Mansion just after the sale started as I knew there were not many copies left with the slip and it sold out like 20 min into the sale. Also got Fortress Of Amerikkka (partly on Grahams recommendation), Invisible Maniac 4K, Dracula Sucks 4K, The Bees, Rush Week(even though I cant play Reg A yet), Nasty Nurses/Lets Talk Sex, Censor, Blue Ice(bought a second timd to get the slip) and also one from the partner labels: GLOW.
Eagerly awaiting my package. I'm not a subscriber but I made sure to do the Flash preorder back in March to get a little further in line. Im a verhoeven fan boy that never got around to seeing showgirls either, I wonder if it will be as bad as they say? Can't wait to watch them all! I was sad to see Treat Williams pass, I first saw him in 1998s Deep Rising and was sure to get the Dead Heat 4k last year. I went and bought Criterions Smooth Talk which stars him in it after hearing the news. Its my first Criterion purchase, its a 1985 movie, have you heard of it by any chance?
Yeah a few people have mentioned that it would be my kind of film. Personally I loved him in Deep Rising, should have got a sequel, and Things to do in Denver when you’re dead
Hey Graham. Enjoyed watching A Blade in the Dark again although I was also morbidly fascinated by all the hairs, film emulsion build up that plague almost every shot. Nice slow burn gialli. I kind of enjoyed Night Screams, possibly the least deserving 4K release of all time. It just shows how unique a time it is for physical media collectors. This Slasher offers little to the subgenre. Subtlety has no bearing here, the inserts from Graduation Day & Pornos to pad out the running time & add some second hand T&A stick out like a sore thumb. Despite some glaring red herrings this must have the most obvious killers of all time. I’m not the brightest tool in the shed so even though I absolutely hated the Blind Buy VSP release of Scary of the Sixty First I still automatically bought Sick of Myself. Luckily it’s a good film.
Sick of myself had some of 61st stank on it as well as the really unappealing cover art so I gave it a miss. I spent today watching Dolls, Arena and Cellar Dwellar. Tomorrow will be robot jox and night screams
@@manvfilm Actually, I’ve just finished Sick of Myself.. I could have so easily have been unbearable, following two of the most horrible and selfish people ever onscreen. It’s almost like a 21st Century version of Pink Flamingos. Luckily with a smart director & a great lead actress. The Slipbox is a bit ugly though. Just started the Villages of the Damned set. Wish me luck! Did you get an early Empire of Screams set?
I got the screeners through. Although I do have the full set on preorder. But I’ll be on holiday when it comes out, so I’m just watching them just now. I’m a big Arena fan, I haven’t seen robot jox in decades so I’m curious o see how I get on with that one.
@@manvfilm Funny. I was never a huge Charlie Band fan. Early Stuart Gordon & Trancers were cool but I wonder who watches Evil Bong #107 of Gingerdead Man #48!?! I like the 80’s Band stuff. I absolutely love trancers I have the first 3 on 88 films discs. Trancers 1 was fat and away the best and could do with a decent budgeted remaster.

I think Verhoeven was a genius. He worked within the Hollywood system while constantly poking fun at them.

I laughed out loud at the cover for ninja in the claws of the cia.
Shame I want to see, love a bit of Ozploitation. I've got Time Of Roses from Deaf Crocodile to watch as well. Some great pick-ups there.
Time of roses is the only one I haven’t bought as yet.
Thank you 😊😊
Never knew about this sale. I'll have to look out from now on.
I’ll make a post whenever the next sale happens
Graham are Vinegar Syndrome releases always region free? Or are some region locked?
No it various from each release. The product page on VS usually tells you. Although the site is down until Friday.
@@manvfilm ok thanks, looks like I’ll have to invest in a region free player
