An interesting factoid: in the Indian local language Marathi, which is the official language of Bombay ( Mumbai), the fruit l'ananas has exactly the same name for the same fruit. We simply call it "ananas" meaning pineapple.

After that and the Roman Conquest of Judea (where nowadays are Lebanon, Palestine, etc...) many arabic words were being adapted by the Roman Empire and lately it still "stick" in Vulgar Latin Dialects (that nowadays are known as portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian and Romanian languages). If you go to Brazil, you can "start a war" if you say that Kibbeh is not a brazilian snack. Lol
