I’m sure this is just scaling up 1080p to 4K (basically zooming in), and it’s not actually re-sampling the data and preserving the quality. It still won’t be decent 4K I’m afraid without some proper superscale/ai upscaler
Can I then drag copy to a 4k timeline with 4k footage and export in 4k ie I shoot 4k on gopro that is main sequence. Shoot 360 camera and that probably exports to 1080 do what you say here in its own sequence once done put it on main sequence and edit there? Thanks for great video
Thank you for this magical tip, I have been having so much worry about how to take a 4K video with my old-horse-Nikon D800, and you make it so easy. I tried it and it works like magic, thanks again, bro.
Hey Ant, great video! Do you think it's maybe better to export the 1080p footage to 4k with H264 format and max render/depth quality than this "set to frame size" method?
I kind of thought that's how it was done, just hadn't tried it yet, but I had done it in older versions of Premier where I've converted 4:3 to 16:9. Thanks for the extra tips on the color correction and sharpening. Great video by the way, straight to the point and simple thanks my brother.
You are crisp and clear. Your voice is already 4k ha! cool man. Help me on a thing, should I upscale after all cuts, effects, titles or upscale the footage first? Thanks man.
Great help! I am trying to upscale old video from 240P to 1080P, and so far has not worked. One of the biggest problems is getting the fps upscaled from 25fps to closer to 60. CAn you advise how to do it manually, as Premiere does not do it.
Will take a lot of AI to add that many frames. Optical Flow interpolation tries to do that, but I doubt it will help in your situation. Thank you for watching and sharing my video
So its just bilinear upscale with sharpen? Or its bicubic? If its bicubic then NICE! Do you know what AI do to upscale video? Maybe I should use "video2x" with Waifu2x NCNN Vulkan, or its might be better upscale algorithm in Premiere pro? Thanks for video by the way!
Wow, thanks for sharing. Is there a way for doing the same for 1080p footage that was shot in 120fps, while keeping that frame rate and pumping it up to 4K for the SloMo effect? There is a way for doing this by filming in 60fps 4K and then letting AI do the magic and guessing the missing 60fps, but that doesn’t look as smooth as native 4K 120fps. I could imagine doing your way of upscaling instead of upframing would result in a better quality?
I use a Canon 200D and I want to crop out my landscape orientation videos for reels....will this method keep the videos sharp enough for uploading on Reels? ....I tried Gigapixel Video Enhance AI, isn't working.
No. I suggest scale down to square and put a background or graphic of some sort to fill the frame of the reel. Similar to this. Thanks for watching. instagram.com/reel/CVVk9pLJLPJ/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

So, premiere filled the empty pixels ? Is it actually upscaled ? It's 4k? Quality is better or it's just "zoomed"?
Not quite the "zoomed in" look. But not quite true 4k UHD. But looks better than true HD. Did you watch? Thanks if you did.
Yes I did, so do you know a program that does upscaling? Like that goes to true 4k.
I don't
