I suffer from a panic disorder, yet for some reason, this kind of music calms me. Perhaps it's the kind of thing where I feel just enough on edge over something external, that it gets me out of my own head enough to get back to reality. Not gonna question it. Just gonna go with it.

evolzippo hey I have a panic disorder and schizoid personality disorder and love this kind of music too. It's all I can stand listening to.
Generally, you either find peace from panic through two ways and one works better than the other. Either calming music/sounds or else something which in and of itself resembles your panic and thus changes the way in which you feel towards it. That's somewhat how it works for me.
I can imagine my characters from both Metros, all three Fallouts, and the STALKER's all wandering together with this stuff playing

I love tracks like this while playing games like STALKER and what not, it just adds such feel and depth to the games
In some sort of bleak, ethereal way this playlist moves the listener toward a sinking feeling of helplessness. A wilted landscape prevails with brittle charcoal arms pulling you into the black mist that is wet with the dust of a million withered souls. Another masterful piece by Mr. Heath.

i think post apocalptic fandoms are so deeply emotional in a way because these music and stories like the last of us or metro have this atmosphere thats beautiful

You lay there. In a reclined seat. Listening. To the water fall. You’re not sure how long you just lay there. And you spoke to yourself. To try and fill the silence. After speaking. The silence fell once more. Somehow heavier. As if your speaking made something *worse* than it already was. Absolute silence. Then, a soft hum. A distant generator perhaps. Or a constant wind through pipes. You’re not entirely sure. But you listen. You feel your heart, suddenly loud in your chest. As the hum gets louder. Changed pitch and tone to something indescribable. Your breathing quickens. And you feel cramped. The room youre in no longer a safe place for you. Its become cramped; claustrophobic even. You try to get comfortable. Wiggle around, sit up higher. Lay lower. Close in on yourself maybe. But to no avail. You close your eyes to will away these feelings. But they persist. The silent hums and winds all pestering you. But you just cant feel safe anymore. You feel your instincts take over.

Fallout is more ''complete'' with all the questing and the rpg side, but in term of ambience, atmosphere and realism Stalker shadow of chernobyl and call of pripyat both with the complete mod are just memorable. A lot more immersive than Fallout. It depend of what you want in a game i guess ! :)

I find I liked SHOC a lot better with the Zone Reclamation Project and Photo Realistic Zone mods than with the Complete.
I prefer STALKER over Fallout, especially with mods like Misery and Last Day.
Must sound contradictory in some ways, but this music is incredibly perfect for me when I want to just relax.
Read Metro 2033 while listening to this. It gives you goosebumps.
