Just don't address them at all, the internet is FULL of haters now. I love to see Mariner and Somewhere Along the Highway are the two most popular Cult of Luna albums. Lucky to have been on board since just before the release of Eternal Kingdom. Luna brought me to Julie; Another fantastic catalogue :)
I know I'm late as hell to finding this album, but damn. It is a special album. I really hope they do collaborate again in the future. It's crazy that they could create such an amazing album without even having met each other, but just imagine what they could do with more time to develop their already amazing musical chemistry.
@@FA9082 Yeah, I know they did most of the heavy lifting as far as writing and playing go, but her vocals just have that thing that makes them so unique and it fits in so perfectly with CoL's writing. They wrote and performed a great album, but I think Julie's vocals take it to the next level and in my opinion the album wouldn't be nearly as special without her.
Excellent interview. Please monitor the volume levels better next time, the sections of music are far too loud so I had to constantly be adjusting the volume to hear the interview between those sections. Particularly with how soft spoken Johannes was. Thanks for this!
I had a strange sort of opposite experience. First CoL I album I listened to was Vertikal 1 and 2, then Somewhere Along the Highway. Initially, I was like “I wish he’d sing less, because they are so unbelievably talented musically.” Then, I heard Mariner for the first time, and I simply didn’t care for it. I was like “Who is Julie Christmas and why is she fucking up my CoL?” Johannes screaming vocals had begun to grow on me around then, because I was able to understand the words now. I went through the rest of their discography over a year, and loved everything. Then I finally watched the live performance of Mariner, and it suddenly grabbed me by the soul on track 3… so, there isn’t a single CoL album that I don’t at least like, and I absolutely adore most of them. Interesting how we all arrive at similar conclusions through very different paths.
I think the way her vocals sound are completely intentional and personally really like it. Also a lot of bands record instruments and vocals in different studios these days..to save money.
Ok. Love the band, I thought this one was a disaster. Approaching Transition is an excellent track and actually sounds like COL. The rest of this project is a cluster for the most part. I don't know too much about her and for the life of me dont get the facsinatiion. I am totally aware of her years ago only because of another band I love, Mouth of the Architect had her do vocals on a song Generation of ghosts. Didn't work then, doesn't work here. The vocals on Chevron some of it reminds me of Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter and the last song is unbearable towards the end. I don't think this should be classifed as an official Cult of Luna release as seem nothing more then some experimental side project gone awry.
I see - too bad essentially every Cult of Luna fan and a plethora of year-end lists and music review sites consider it to be a phenomenal album, so uh, I guess, that's just, like, your opinion man.
I think the fascination comes from how angry and real her screams are, i agree with the fact that most of the album isnt my type of music but the parts like the one that starts around 8:40 into their song Cygnus with her screams is mind blowing its like your getting a genuine glimpse into insanity and despair which is just art to my ears
I don't get the haters here. I discovered Cult of Luna thanks to Mariner. Great album.
I discovered Mariner thanks to Julie and thus discovered Cult of Luna myself
i rediscovered them through mariner. I stopped listening to them after the second album. and this brought me back. Its amazing

This woman is such a powerhouse. Such a legit artist. Love her so much.

Well let's be honest Cult of Luna created an amazing album not CoL + Julie...they just put Julie's vocals in the right places 😂

Julie Is the best thing happened to Cult of Luna. So far

Thanks for this!
I second this - I could only watch the first few minutes because I got sick of adjusting the volume.
Thanks for your useful feedback!
Sorry to hear that you had trouble with that. We'll definitely put more effort into that.
it's amazing, that such a soft spoken person delivers such harsh powerful vocals.
Or you can have Loudness Equalization on your Windows enabled
Yeah I agree, its a simple audio level adjust in premier. Great interview though.
This album was an amazing find. Thank you.
I really hope i had the chance to see them live :(
i realize it's quite off topic but do anyone know a good site to stream new series online ?
@Derrick Curtis I use Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
Hate comments? Why? She's badass
lol, Johannes nearly refuses to make eye contact. I'd love to see another collab. from them; that was my fav record that year when it came out.
well, good news because one just came out
Ah yes, "love their music, not the vocals, so hopefully now with Julie we gave them that". Spot on.

@@RedSky-vf8bf Johannes didn't sing on Somewhere Along the Highway tho
Love Julie Christmas wish they would reissue Battle Of Mice-The Bad Wife
Dude, her speaking voice is completely different than her singing voice.
I saw Julie in Budapest 2010 and I will never forget her amazing & crazy performance. Who cares about haters. F*ck 'em.
who is the band that jonannes talking at 1:00
I think it's these guys? abyssionfinland.bandcamp.com/ Could very well be wrong though.
Thanks, I was curious about it as well, I think you are right since they played in roadburn in 2016
Algobar sure thing! I took a guess and saw they played at Roadburn like you said. I'm going to give them a listen tonight!
abyssion (Finland)
What is the name of the band from Finland he likes so much that he announces in the first minute ?? Can you tell?
Abyssion. Finnish black metal band.
@@cowboi5457 thank you 🙏🏽
ROADBURN 2018 WAS FUCKING AWESOME SEE U 2021 I HOPE
I think when it come to monster/death rock, your vocals are the best and I agree with her you guys are so awesome together.
the fact that people have to discuss or make this a theme is actually quite sad
we are not conquerors
The volume if off from the interview to the music parts. Happy to have it otherwise!
I think it really shows that they were not in the same studio. Her sections are great but feel rough cut.
I think the way her vocals sound are completely intentional and personally really like it. Also a lot of bands record instruments and vocals in different studios these days..to save money.
Sometimes it blows my ears sometimes I can't hear a thing...but a great interview though
Julie has a fantastic voice but she is totally insane
Seems pretty normal to me
I think you're just picking up on her being a woman.
Well let's be honest Cult of Luna created an amazing album not CoL + Julie...they just put Julie's vocals in the right places 😂
i very earnestly doubt that she just recorded a bunch of random vocal lines that they snipped together man. have you ever written a single song lmfao

Its literally their most popular work bud. It's not to your taste so what. Clearly works for a lot more people including those who released the album.
I see - too bad essentially every Cult of Luna fan and a plethora of year-end lists and music review sites consider it to be a phenomenal album, so uh, I guess, that's just, like, your opinion man.
Its art, the artists decides where to take it, not the fans.
Mouth of the architect is from my hometown dayton ohio i used to go to most of their local shows what a small world!
We love you Julie and your past bands amazing artist! She's the female reznor (;
