I heard you talk a lot about "emergency" usage, which is inherently a wrong mindset in FF14 healing. All healing is a big puzzle to be solved with your co-healer. That includes your big Cooldowns. You use them when needed. You don't save them for "emergencies". Because if you do, you will lack the tools to avoid GCD heals (when necessary). So rather than "emergency usage", focus on using them smartly and when possible on cooldown. That's when you get the most out of your abilities.
Aw thank you! Synastry doesn’t apply to what I was inching down on here to the extent of me adding it. It’s a subpar ability compared to the power of astro and should be avoided at all cost :)
Asylums buff also stays for about 1 server tick when you leave it if you got the tick. Same for sacred soil. AST has the inverse with their bubble, idr skill names. But you can press it once and go back to doing GCDs and it still applies. Spells and Abilities are on tooltips now, it used to be magic and spells which could be confusing.
Astrodyne is a healing potency buff but not magic buff so it works with healing abilities like earthly star. Which is the only real "healing" you mostly do there. Earthly star works like a pet which in its own is a whole other topic about healing/damage
the fact that so much healing in endgame is done using oGCDs makes me feel that a healing buff that only buffs the healing of GCDs is bad design and just adds unnecessary nuance to the job design, kind of like mitigations or damage buffs that only apply to physical or magical
For other healers it may be the case and seems kinda unbalanced but they are still useful in end game scenarios and that’s when the exiting stuff happens.
Thank you answering the long time question I've had and was too lazy to test for myself. "What EXACTLY does increased healing potency affect?" and now that I think about it 🤔this explains the results I got when testing astro card buff now for the other questions I'm too lazy to science: "Do abilities that say 'heal potency equivalent' get affected by any buffs or debuffs at all?" (e.g. SGE haima or GNB brutal shell shield) "Why does SCH sacred soil say 'take 90% of damage' instead of 'reduce damage by 10%'? Would that be affected by anything? Does it stack differently with other mitigations? Can it reduce true damage? :o"
For the sacred soil thing as far as I know the only difference is the wording. It stacks in the same way as other mit's do. So for "take 90% + "10% reduction" actually total's 19% total mitgation. (you take 90% damage then 10% of the resulting damage.) For the "heal potency equivalent" as far as I know yes they do. They are calculated the same way as normal heal potency. At least to my understanding.

You are assuming people read their skills, so you are already wrong. Most people playing healers does for faster queue time and such. Same goes for tank and this is why you have tank dying from auto attack and tank don't know how to use reprisal, arm's length and mitigation properly at level 90.
Awesome content thanks for the helpful video
Thanks it’s one of those things, we all see it, but how does it really apply kinda thing 😅
I'll still be a mediocre healer, but now I'll be a learned mediocre healer. good johb, bun.

This is REALLY useful. Thanks! ♥ One small edit - Astro DOES have Synastry to help with healing potency on a single target, but yeah. :)

@@BunBossFFXIV I agree...Considering Astros' current bloat issue, I imagine (hope) they'll get rid of Synastry in the job overhaul!
That Sysastry and single target heal does not work to make your heal more potency

Great video! That bottom red name in your supporter shout outs though 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He is my very first supporter! And that was the name of it, it cracks me up every single time 😂😂😂
I only use recitation between pulls in dungeons honestly just for aether flow stacks for more damage lol
Very informative and straight to the point without useless fillers. Thank you :)
I really love your informative videos.. I have been playing for 5 years and I am learning stuff I never knew. Black mage is my main too.
Aw thanks!! 💕

Yeee still so tiny buff and not actually plannable since your at the mercy of rng for that buff specifically
JUSTICE for SCHOLAR!!!

One thing I know about healing is don't play healer so I don't have to deal with dice.
even tho I'm a healer main that's been raiding for years; nice video. I hope more people learn of this coz u see mistakes to this every day xD
Yay!!!! So glad that a veteran approves of this! ♥️♥️❤️🩹❤️🩹
Super cool and useful info, but when does my glare get to do as much damage as a limit break?
Huh. Seems I've been using Zoe wrong. And thanks for the tip with the level 90 skill!
Happy to help!
I honestly didn't know that about the Asylum Bubble, making Cure II heal for more. Thank you.

That Zoe + EP shield is so strong and I love that it last for a long time too.
Yea that is good for pre pull boss shields
you should be using zoe on pneuma as it makes the 600 potency heal into a 900 potency heal
Yeee it’s fine either way, as most people don’t use Zoe at all so if there using it, on the path for good healing 😅
@@dubs6889 I have used it on pheuma but I barely ever have to use it bc Sage kit is already very competent with its other abilities.
Thanks for doing the tests for me, didnt feel like it myself :]
Listening to this and a lightbulb went off for me as to why Sage felt so garbage to me despite everyone claiming it’s prowess.

correct, we are just talking about healing in this video :)

Tbh games need to remove 1 hit and "check" mechanics and bring back REAL challenges. They need to also remove alot of healing off of tanks

I read my skills, but hard to remember that "action" and such are specific keywords if I'm not used to it, instead of just... well things you use
Unfortunately this is true. I did it because I was tired of having healers in dungeons who were bad. Can't get a bad healer if I am the healer.

If u wanna heal good just use 2b leggings...everyone else is doin it
