Star Fox Adventures is a game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo in 2002 for the GameCube. Originally intended to be a title that bears no relation to the Star Fox franchise named Dinosaur Planet, it stars Krystal, who receives a distress signal from Dinosaur Planet and decides to investigate the incident, as well as Fox McCloud, who gets called by General Pepper to repair Dinosaur Planet by putting the broken pieces back in place.
Lobsterzelda ( tasvideos.org/... ) does so whilst avoiding a glitch that skips most of the game (called Void Travel) and instead relies on other pretty significant glitches, like OoB, and defeats the culprit in record time. Please read the author's comments ( tasvideos.org/... ) for more details.
A video encode with voice commentary by the author can be found here ( • [TAS] Star Fox Adventu... ).
Fox's model still holds up despite being an old game. Rare devs were truly masters of their craft.
Fox looks best in this game
Never knew I needed a Star Fox Adventures TAS movie until now. Thank you for your hard work!
Ah, Krystal. The fox that launched a thousand furries.
37:20 Okay now every looks like we’re in a funhouse.
I'm not really into long TAS, but this one is really worth a watch! This run sure break the rules of how you are supposed to progress into the game, lmao. The skips are pretty nuts! Not to talk about the various ways to save time here and there. And wth are those visual glitches? Truly weird to see Fox swimming around a land made of colored textures (starting around 2:18:20 ). I was not ready for this!
I liked this game back then, one of my friend gave me this game, it was my first Starfox actually! Glad to see this TAS.
Those happen when you bypass loading triggers. You end up in a map whose models and textures aren't loaded so they show up as rainbow cubes.
Been waiting a long time for this.
Talk about a huge sequence break and these breaks are huge leaps! Of course General Pepper was all like Where are you going, Fox you still need to get the Spell Stone Dark Ice Mines! When all of that was essentially skipped entirely! Not to mention Staff Quake Lvl 2 was skipped and the Staff Magic Meter wasn't fully filled. 100%? Maybe. Great upload and Lobsterzelda did a great job doing this.
The flawless ship section is so satisfying to watch.
Rainbow Box Adventures: Swim-in-the-Air Planet
1:57:03 The WarpStone never could count very well. At least he was right about "one to go."
2:04:08 The robot's all, "Hey I was supposed to pick that up! Give that back!"
Items pick up scenes are hilariously cheesy
\🦊/
Looking back, the fake language used in the game is middle-schooler fanfiction levels of cringe...
@@therealfriday13th glad I'm not the only one that noticed. In what world does it make sense to have them saying ""Kiah shaj deke lu, eedou su tavuk, General Scales!". Why not make up a word for "general", and make up a unique name in that language. "Skalius", or whatever.
@@therealfriday13th Al bhed from FFX and Klonoa Phantomille
@@therealfriday13th what? I don't think u know what cringe is the dinosaur language was perfectly executed
Legend of Star Fox! Loved this game when I played it
56:42 just imagining a Something About series where fox just salutes him as he falls to his death (i have never played this game)
I wish Elite Dangerous Odyssey were this immersive
After the recent-ish Dinosaur Planet leaks, its hard to see this game as anything but flawed, missed potential, and they did Krystal dirty. But there's still a lot to like here as well.
Its no wonder the Furry Prawn (algospeak for something else ;) ) community has run the furthest with this game's content and characters. No thinking about this game's flaws, no hard thinking about the game at all really, just vibes and thirst. And really, that's when its at its best, isn't it?
Also this TAS goes hard.
Looking at the code you can really tell the game is only half finished. Such a shame.
This came out of nowhere and I'm so hype about it. Used to own it on GameCube.
Man, watching this game again, this really was “Star Fox Adventure, the Legend of Zelda” and I love that about it.
@David Jameson Krystal for sure was the pioneer of “they knew what they were doing” back when that wasn’t even a thing yet.
Her original design had a lot more clothing and a lot less hair, but apparently Miyamoto decided she should have more sex appeal, or so say one of the devs.
@David Jameson 😐
Don't understand the Zelda comparisons too much, all adventure games are executed like this
I just noticed....Falco was missing during that entire intro.
I am now compelled to watch the whole thing as i coulda sworn, Falco was in the intro...i wonder what happened.
The manual explains that falco just sort of got bored and left for parts unknown. From what I've heard, there's also a japanese only manga that explains it in more detail.
This game was my childhood. I could care less about the fact that this doesn't feel like a Star Fox game. The game's gorgeous for 2002, fun gameplay, interesting story, and was the last Rare title to be published on a Nintendo console before their acquisition by Microsoft.
Plus, if it wasn't for this game we wouldn't have gotten Assault, another favorite game from back then!
It really is a beautiful game. Puts Nintendo to shame - this game can do detailed fur/grass/water at 60 FPS, while Wind Waker's cel shading is only 30!
(Sure, WW looks good too, but it's not as computationally intensive, so it should have been able to hit 60...)
I really wish Rare had been able to make more GC games without such severe time constraints. They could have made Stop'n'Swop actually work with discs!
Sadly the overall game design really suffers from that time crunch. So much got cut that what's left is awkward.
Glad Star Fox Assault has a level to revisit Sauria planet and seeing an older Tricky as the new king.
Kind of crazy how they basically remade this entire game for GameCube.
why the heck would he not only give a speech but also reveal his origin?!
Shout out to the jarring save data load where Krystal jumps off a cliff while screaming for her life. Before abruptly cutting back to Fox
I beat this game over and over again and I still don't like it, yet I play it still. It's an odd relationship.
50:17 HOW?
I'm glad Fox was there to explain what the crap was going on, 'cause I barely understood it back when I played this game casually. And I was in my early 20's back then!
Corporate interference sure lends itself to some convoluted, cockamamie plots, huh?
STAIR FAX TEMPERATURES
I'd really love see someone explain this run because I don't understand the saving and resting to warp somewhere else thing.
If you go to the submission page, the author has linked a commentated version there.
There's a glitch where you can save, reset, load a different save file, and then warp back into the previous file to copy some of the game state. It's pretty weird.
Xtrawdktra yes you are a bye-bye
30:15
Let's save ourselves the trouble of rewatching the start of the game, shall we?
2:50:04
It all comes down to this.
stubby little arms, itty bitty baby arms
Man, the 'dino speech' in this is just terrible. Bad on the ears, jarring every time a proper noun is said in plain english in the middle of it, just. Eurgh. It causes such a strong negative reaction for me...
A number of languages actually do similar with certain terms being said in English, actually. It's fairly common.
My fave is when their own native names end up being in English anyways. Having them suddenly say in perfect english "Krazoa Palace" was always humorous to my family. The fact that Dino's don't have a word for certain things that are native to their planet was my coveted trash.
The worst part of this game is that they taunt you with an on-rails shooter then, well that's it...ugh. I think I know why I liked star fox zero
Timestamps for the Arwing sections please
Love it
I remember that tricky changed color, does anyone knows why?😅 or is justa a Mandela effect!? 😅
When you play with Tricky and throw his ball around, he changes color after a while. Not sure if it does anything though
@@awesomeboss2020gameplay wise? Did nothing. Probably would have if the game were “finished” but oh well. :(
Every 10 ball throws he changes to a different color. My favorite is the white/light blue one
@@MinyaKinar I believe gameplay wise, it does nothing 😂
That thumbnail looks like a totally different character and species, ngl
2:54:54 "OH FUCKS!"
YEAH THIS GOT PUBLISHED!
now publish NSMB2
1:31:42 woooooooooah
1:08:30
I'm no furry BUT...
Is this a furry game?
saved
As yes the "worst star fox game". This franchise did get me into drawing an animation funnily enough.
This game would have been improved massively if it didn't have voice acting worse than Resident Evil 1
Tem algum problema cara? Não pode andar com o personagem sem ficar rolando o tempo todo, que irritante isso 🤮
It’s a TAS, rolling is faster than running, so gotta go fast
Wooooooooow, you're so good, like it says, you're hacking the game you fucking tyrant!
Somebody TAS’d the fake Starfox game? Lol
It's actually a great star fox game. It was fun and had great graphics and gameplay for its time, and it still holds up today.
You jumped off the cliff as crystal and then respawned back as fox?!?? What happened lol
I recommend watching the run with commentary: ruclips.net/video/a0L_ON_r8Mg/видео.html
