I myself am Catholic from the UK but plan to move to the US and am seriously considering converting to Orthodoxy and want to try and establish/help fund a Church congregation somewhere to expand the sphere of influence. Catholics these days are such hypocrites (especially what I call the California “Catholics” that are just Catholic in name only). Born Greek of an agnostic father that gave up all faith and hope.
My Mother was English and when my Grandparents returned to Cyrus before the War started,
I stopped speaking Greek...as my Father worked 65 hours a week and to be honest never tried to speak or talk in Greek.
I only learned the ways of Orthodox Christmas visiting my God Father.
I am now here because the family is gone disintegrated in sin and modern western nonsense spite hatred and sadness.
These chants cleanse my spirit.
This encourages me to learn Greek again as I spoke till I was nearly 5.
I may even learn Russian first as it will be easy to read Greek and Bulgarian and Russian.
I never understood the words.

You are a bit mistaken. Bulgarian and Russian are similar as they are both slavik languages bassed on the cyrilic alphabet. Cyrilic shares some some characters with Greek as it was originally bsedon it but Greek is a whole other beast and much more complicated.
As a converted brother of yous, I used to be a Muslim until the beginning of this year. I'd been a deist between January and Aprll. This month however, I converted to Christianity. May God's grace be with you.

You are not alone, God and all your christian brothers and sisters love and support you. Stay strong and have faith and love of God and humanity. Nothing else heals.
Read the new testament, read easypeasymethod and have fear of going to hell so you avoid sinning. I wish somebody gave me this advice when I was in high school.
You can overcome high school. Your education matters. You will unfortunately face with so many hard situations as you grow up. However don’t give up. I have been depressed for years. Even had thoughts about doing something to myself. However ending your life or abandoning your education are the results of escapism that the modern media encourages. “If something is hard , just drop it “ mentality damages everyone. Plus, the media glorifying very normal things (such as high school) yet when you experience it and things don’t go as the way you have seen on media you feel like that isn’t normal and therefore you feel like should quit.
I assume you live in the states or west. Believe me your conditions are muuuch better than ours. I live in Middle East. Basically everything is on nightmare mode. Try to appreciate what you have and what is given to you by God.
Try to workout. Get a hobby. Also get hormone tested because hormonal imbalances can cause depression. Such as irregular scales of testosterone, thyroid (TSH) , ACTH etc
Instead of jumping on anti depressants get your hormones checked.
Out of tangent but studies have shown that a good chunk/percentage of people who got prescribed with anti depressants are actually don’t need it and their depression is caused by their TSH hormone irregularities.
Same hoes with estrogen/testosterone irregularities aswell.
It’s hard to give positive energy or advices here but don’t let yourself go. Removing high school and education from your life will give you a temporary relaxation from stress. However you’ll have bigger problems/stress due to being a high school drop out and struggling with finding a job and money.

@@paladinhansen137 It seems like the largest hurdle for Orthodoxy in the US is the barrier to entry. Like, I'd go go an Orthodox mass in a heartbeat (There's three Orthodox churches in my area) but I'd have no idea what I'm doing and I'm afraid of always feeling like an outsider since these churches are either a majority Ukrainian or Russian.
It seems like unless you were born into Orthodoxy there's really no way to be a part of it. Meanwhile, the Protestant churches are aggressively trying to recruit people everywhere and it's extremely easy to assimilate into these communities regardless of your background.

@@johnlabonte5469 honestly, thats not entirely true in all places. The OCA is the Orthodox Church in America which is a jurisdiction of mostly American converts. I also find that once the russians in my parish warmed up to my being in attendance that they're usually very happy to see me there. Its not incorrect to say that there's still some ethno-philetism in some parishes but as I understand it, this is becoming less and less the case as more converts come into the church.

Attend Orthodox services in areas of English speaking folks and you will hear all the chants you could possibly want!! The hymns in Orthodox churches are all chanted. When the choir is particularly good, close your eyes and the sound is amazing without the distractions of seeing anything. May God continue to bless you with the sensitivity for Orthodox chant!!

Even though I'm not Orthodox, I'm a protestant, I absolutely love the style of worship songs that the Orthodox church has. What I've always disliked about protestant Christian music is I think it lacks the reverence that songs of worship should have. The Orthodox church has no such problem.
I certainly don't think that's a universal issue in Protestant churches, but I think that's definitely true in various big megachurches that a lot of sincere Protestabts would barely consider Christian themselves anyway.

Idk why, but I've felt like I've had a lump in my throat the whole week - the kind you feel when you want to cry. Not sure why I had it. I clicked this when I was in the car not really knowing what to expect. The second I heard clear chanting in English I welled up with tears of joy. Made me feel so welcomed.

Find an Orthodox parish near you. Nearly all Antiochians and all Orthodox Church in America parishes will have services in English. You found this for a reason.
I say from an experience not dissimilar to yours that you should start attending services in the nearest Orthodox parish near you. I’ve already gone to more services, mostly liturgies and vespers, than I can count but they always leave in me a feeling of awe and meaning. The eastern services are absolutely full of meaning. Every little thing literally means something from the way you cross yourself to the way that the priest is dressed. God bless you, Christ is born!
Hold fast onto the teachings of Christ! Remember, there is good reason to have hope! All the authorities had to do in order to shut christianity down was to produce the body! The Lord is alive and well today and well you know the emptiness without him as explained in Ecclesiastes and as Paul writes, eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die, but not so for the believer! Existential meaning can only come from God most high, the self existing self sufficient one, we know that there can be no infinite regression of causes to form this reality, God most high is your maker. The thumbnail looks like some Mexican Cowboy with the beard, hat, and scarf that almost looks like a poncho. American cowboys wore the same type of shirt but a different (usually curved brim) hat, a neckerchief, and only sported a mustache. Other than that though, I'm eternally grateful for these English chants as there aren't nearly enough of them and I hope Orthodoxy one day spreads in America.

I used to be a Presbyterian but over the last half year due to distance from my old church, circumstances regarding my family, and the follies of my old denomination I was left lost in stress, confusion, and anguish. Orthodoxy changed my life. I’m so glad I found it. If you’re a Protestant or Catholic and found yourself falling out of favor with the church, visit an Orthodox Church. I promise, you won’t regret it.
I ageee. I think its a perfect fit for many people.
My concern is about apostasy. I do not want to betray my Lord. I have my concerns about the RCC, but the only way I could even rationalize abandoning it is if the Church itself as an organization fundamentally rejected Christ openly. It’s had many poor leaders and times of crisis, but Catholicism has always bounced back and survived despite all rational evidence showing that it should’ve collapsed under its own weight. In my mind the only way it could survive is divine intervention.
These days have brought me great concern, pray for me friend that my choices will be Christ’s choices not mine or the world’s. It’d be appreciated.
As a Catholic I love my Orthodox brothers and I wish it would happen.

Honestly the US has worse problems than Protestantism, the degeneracy and Godlessness in our country should be sickening to any who calls themself Christian.
The genesis of the Protestant reformation is that there was incredible heresy and corruption in the Catholic church that dishonored the name of the Lord. Luther didnt intend to cause a schism, but to address serious flaws and ungodly behavior, but the Catholic church at the time doubled down, accelerating the rift.

@@Mars20231 I agree, but I would imagine the onset of this degeneracy and its prominence within our country may very well come from the fact that the most prominent Christian "Churches" are weak Protestant ones, which are almost all misguided in some way, usually spread false teachings, or don't have backbone to stand up for true Orthodox Christian teachings. Without a strong unified Church in this country it seems the American people are divided on moral grounds or have been led astray, particularly by major cults like the JW and LDS "churches." In addition to that there are all these "Progressive Christian Churches" like the United Methodists, ELCA, and whatever the heck Universalists are, which push this degeneracy that we see becoming prominent throughout our society and teach that it is actually moral and virtuous.
The lack of a proper and unified Church due to the prominence of Protestantism, and thus the lack of true Christian morals being taught to younger generations, might be one of the major reasons why all this degenerate behaviour and massive corruption has spread so quickly. Many people in our country seem to have forgotten God...

Luther may have intended to do something good in addressing internal heresy and corruption, but it likely ended up unintentionally creating something far worse. All I mean by referring to Protestantism is that based upon my experiences most Protestant Churches do not really spread God's teachings or are just soulless. Everytime I have entered a Protestant Church there was a distinct lack of God or feeling that the people were really praying to the Lord, instead it seemed like everyone was just putting on a show. The only time I have walked into a church and felt the presence of God within the Church itself, its members, and its clergy was when I entered a Traditional Catholic Church and an Orthodox Church.

As a Greek orthodox Christian, I hope America changes their ways and joins us, not forcefully as they are always welcomed to join anti-degeneracy.
I’m thankful that there is an Antiochian Orthodox Church in my city and a Russian Orthodox Church closer to my house. And although my city/state is predominantly Mormon and Catholic I know which path is the right one the orthodox way

As someone who was raised agnostic, I wish America held onto it's fleeting Christian values. Hopefully, if I have children, they'll learn to love Christ. But then again, I read the title of this video and it reminds me how lost the last few generations have been to our Lord (including myself, by the way), and it makes me fear for our successors. Maybe we must all walk in the darkness, to finally be engulfed by the light

I've been listening to orthodox chants for days and they have all been in different languages gages that I don't speak, but it's been so awesome to put in during prayer. This is the first time I've heard these in english and I absolutely am moved. Please tell me where I can find more of these
