    Just found your channel.. I'm 5'2" and I have a GSXR600 ... I rode it at stock height for a few months then decided to get it lowered... It helped me out a ton. After about a year I am considering getting it raised back to stock freight height.... But I also wear boots that have a raised heel for a little help reaching the ground ALMOST A flat foot.

    • @ReeseRides
      @ReeseRides  3 года назад +2

      Ultimately, do what you're most comfortable with!! I'm so happy I started with it lowered just to adjust to learning to ride itself-and over time I practiced one foot down/pretending it was already back to stock before I actually got it raised-and that helped a TON. Just getting that muscle memory of switching which foot I have down and learning the bikes center of gravity just helped a lot, and then when I was ready adjusting to it raised was much easier! Whatever decision you make I know it'll be the right one. Best of luck to you, and ride safe!👍🏻

    I love how you told yourself “good job” at the stop! Gotta cheer yourself on 🙌🏽 And woop woop to practicing riding at stock height! You never know what you’re capable of until you try. I don’t think I’ll ever own a liter either but it’s fun to give yourself the option of test-riding/borrowing bikes in the future. I had that same feeling of “smoothness” when I went from lowered to raised. I definitely did a lot of stretching to prevent getting random cramps ups while tip toeing. I also walked around ALOT in my tall boots to be able to flex a liiiiittle bit more. Also I can’t agree more-you don’t HAVE to ride any way or any bike but it can be a really good time trying new things. Dude, Colorado is so beautiful! Love all the scenery! And I SEE YOU with the editing 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 get it girl!

      Ahhh thank you so much Lei!!🙌🏻😭❤️ I really appreciate it. It's very strange to say, but I've actually felt more stable/confident since having it raised and practicing one foot down. With it being stock it's also forced me to get better at coming to a smooth stop and getting better at my take offs. I was SUPER open to lowering it again if I didn't like it, but so far I'm actually really enjoying it.🙌🏻
      I think there are many different ways to safely ride a motorcycle, and I just love that it's so customizable.🎉
      Thanks for watching as always girl!🙏🏻💗

      I think the best thing I did to prepare for raising my bike back up was practicing one foot down with the bike lowered. It felt silly being almost "dramatic" when I'd get one butt cheek completely off the seat even though I could flat foot on both sides at the time-but it just really helped build confidence and muscle memory especially.
      I've done maybe 4ish rides since raising it (weather has been far too cold and snowy!😩) and it's already feeling so much more natural. Excited to keep practicing!!

    • @carlo_cali

      I was worried about the same thing. I'm only 5'6" and like 155 lbs. I've seen some bikes parked that just look too large for me to ride; then that gas tank hump is huge it looks like it would be up against my chest. I live in NYC and no longer have a driver's license. I stopped driving and never paid my tickets (one stop I got 4 tickets in Brooklyn; I was being harassed). Now my license is revoked. I was wondering if you know if a motorcycle license is a separate entity than a car? They are both under DMV, so will I be able to get a motorbike license if my regular license has been revoked?
      P.S. one summer night when I was living downtown I saw this girl pull up on a CBR 600 or 650 RR. It gave me hope that maybe I could ride a bike comfortably. Everyone was in awe when she pulled up to go into a store. Then she went on the sidewalk to the end of a one way street so she could head north. It was illegal" but this is N.Y. and if the cops don't see you and no one gets hurt, it's kind of considered legal. I'm convinced I want a bike. I watch many of these videos and really like yours, but I think I should start on a Ninja 250; I've seen them under $2000 around here.

    • @ReeseRides
      @ReeseRides  3 года назад +1

      @@carlo_cali you do have to have a driver's license in order to get your motorcycle endorsement-however I'd call the dmv just to confirm as I could be mistaken. (Could possibly just be for my state, or across the board.)
      As for starting on a ninja 250, go with your gut 100%. Starting on a 250 can seriously teach you so so much-and I've heard of so many 300cc riders out-riding 1000cc riders through the twisties-they have to really perfect their riding technique while some 1000cc riders can be sloppy through the turns but make up for it in straightaways...(not that everyone wants to ride like track riders haha.🤣) Also depending on the area you live, you just might not need a lot of power if your hitting lots stoplights/city street riding. A 250 can always be sold, new riders are always on the hunt for them so don't worry about the day you outgrow it! Enjoy the time you have and learn/practice as much as possible-thats your most powerful tool. Best of luck to you!!🙌🏻

      I'm 5'6" 135lbs (too light for stock springs) w/ 28" inseam on a stock seat height R6 of 33.5" as first bike. The bike can be annoying to move around at low speed (ie out of garage, parking space, etc) but overall it's manageable. Only drops have been from the classic kickstand not all the way down mistake and having frame sliders makes those a non-issue.

    I’m a 5’4 man. My dream bike is an r6. And so many people have told me that it is too big for me, that if I can’t flat foot both feet then I won’t be able to control it. It’s really discouraging. I’m determined not to let it deter me. But to be honest I have never even sat on a sport bike. I used to ride dirt bikes but from my understanding sport bikes like the r6 have wide seats so it makes it harder to reach the ground. I really need to find someone to let me sit on one. There are no motorcycle dealers near me, I have no friends that ride, and I don’t know if someone selling their r6 will let me just come test fit it 😂

    • @ReeseRides
      @ReeseRides  2 года назад

      If someone is selling an R6 near you at some point, a test ride would be appropriate and I'm sure they'd let you sit on the bike and take it around the block, if they didn't, they're shady and I wouldn't trust them haha.
      My bike's seat height is 32.2 inches, and the R6 seat height is 33.5 inches. I've got a 28 inch inseam, and now that I'm comfortable with my CBR stock, it's absolutely doable!!! I'd take a look at your inseam, and even if it's a 29 or 30 inch, it's so doable with practice on a 33.5 inch bike like the R6. It's intimidating for a loooot of people, but don't let another person's limiting beliefs stop you. If you think you can do it, then you CAN, it absolutely takes a lot of practice and facing intimidating situations, but it is by NO means impossible. I say go for that dream bike no matter what, and even if you don't like it stock, just get some lowering links on it, make it comfortable for yourself. I actually made a separate video talking about dropping my bike and my experience behind it, and why I did NOT let it stop me. (The video is called "Why I don't care and neither should you").
      Either way, best of luck to you, enjoy the journey of searching for that dream bike!🎉🤙🏻

      I am biased, but I personally think if you set yourself up for success (so openness to learn, patience, discipline, LOTS of practice, putting yourself in safe riding conditions) and respect the bikes power, a 600cc can be a great fit for many! It all depends on the rider. The major benefits of starting on a 300cc is really honing in riding technique which WILL make you a better rider than most (seriously, so many 300cc riders can easily out-ride 600cc-1000cc owners through the twisties and its a thing of beauty haha.) There are excellent opportunities and benefits to both, definitely. A bike I was STRONGLY considering (and I still wanna ride it) was the Ninja 400. Sat on one at a dealership and I still remember how incredibly comfortable it was! I've heard such great things from other riders, so maybe consider checking that one out if you get the chance. Best of luck on your hunt for the perfect fit, girl!! :D

    Have you ever stopped in a very steep incline? If so, how you did it? Can you flat foot your bike?

    • @ReeseRides
      @ReeseRides  2 года назад +1

      I can't flatfoot this bike on both sides, with one foot down I can if I adjust all the way over.
      And I've stopped on many slanted hills/drives/areas before, (CO has a lot of those) and the way I go about them mostly is the same! I use both brakes when stopping, left foot then comes down and right foot keeps the rear brake engaged, stopping the bike from rolling back. When it's time to go, I bring up the RPMS and begin to release the clutch slowly until I start to feel the bike begin to engage, and let off the rear brake about the same time. I let off the rear brake slowly as I get up to speed.😄 Hope that helps!🙏🏻

    Hey what other sport bikes do you recommend for short riders apart from your own? I own a v-star 650 but I'm thinking of buying another bike.

    • @ReeseRides
      @ReeseRides  3 года назад +1

      If we're going strictly off seat height-I would recommend maybe a Kawasaki ZX6R. Very popular bike and I *think* the seat height is similar to my CBRs. If I'm not mistaken the R6 has a higher sear height of the 600 class. Not sure about the GSXR 600, though.🤔
      So although I don't have the exact specifications for each bike, I'm hoping that can give you a good general sense of direction as to where to start. :) Good luck!!
