- For those of you who have either read the explorer notes, or followed the series on my channel, you know how deep and amazing the story of ARK is. As promised, I'm bringing you a summary and wrap up of the entire story of the Island before we jump in to Scorched Earth.

Hunter sadly only on pc, console used to have it, but they took it off to make any non ps+, Xbox live multiplayer suck.
Firenze 64 to be fair Minecraft is much much more simple although the tether is still bullshit.

It’s so awesome but sends chills down my spine every time I watch a final cutscene or listen to the music
So basically four main humans, or “the authors”, ascended on an unknown island with no previous knowledge as to where they are, why they’re there, and how they got there. More survivors started showing up, and they began to govern themselves, making separate tribes and etc. The authors each had unique aspects about them and their purpose on the island. One of the authors, who was a scientist/chemist, discovered an artifact that matched the structure of one of the obelisks (the large floating landmark pillars). The authors all wanted to find the remaining artifacts, and as they did, disputes broke out which led to wars, which then led to the discovery of the portal and finally the overseer. Your character, which was following along the path of the authors, survived long enough to kill the overseer and thus causing a malfunction on the Ark. He/she was immediately transported out of the artificial ecosystem, and placed into a new one, which continues into the story of the Scorched Earth DLC.
Wow, that’s a lot deeper than I thought. I thought this game was just a plain survival game where all you do is become the strongest organism on the island but nope!

If you put your settings to ultra and look at the stars. You can see the other arks floating around. Hard to make out but they've had it in there since the beginning.

oh i got a story for this one. ahem. back in my first ark world when i forst bought the game, i was but a smol beach bob. i had a wood hut and tamed a parasaur. life was good. i decided to pack everything up and find a better place to build. and continued along th beach since i knew a spot from a youtuber i watched. right on the beach there (right acrodd from herbi island) where i wanted to build there was a level 120 alpha rex wrecking absolute havoc on anything and everything in that area. destroying spinos and a metric fuck ton of terror birds. but the thing is i didnt get to that point with my parasaur intact. because as soon as i set off a fookin therizino killed my para and my hut that i was hiding in and then killed me. i uhhh...was not prepared for that first experience. but ill tell you what i eventually made a base and erected stone walls on that little corner and was able to tame that alpha rex wich i named Helga. and just as i was getting ready to move my base and all my dinos to the center of the three mountains ARK did a fucky wucky and deleted all my save data. so now im on ragnarok. still singleplayer.

This was fantastic. Thanks for this. I'd never payed attention to any of the writings in game, because when I play Ark all I want to do is tame and build and ignore the rest but this makes me realize I missed quite a lot by overlooking the notes and entries. Had only wondered if there was something of a story and have now found a lot more than I imagined there would be.

How dope of a game it would've been, if we had the opportunity to converse, and deal with tribes as a single player. Imagine actually seeing tribes with you as you go for the bosses, or having a favored ally or even tribe. Even being a chieftain. Dude makes me feel like ark has that potential now, but I know it probably won't do it, til either ark 2 or sum. Suchhhhh Aaaaa Shammmmmmeeee

There are mods that add human npcs to the game. You can even ''tame'' them and have them work for you like dinos.

Since when is it possible to transfer between pvp and pve XD yes but its true, we are building up like one moth now. we where taming, building and stuff but after a short while many guys came and beginn to destroy us or alliance partners. we decided to change servers wich was our full destruction yesterday... foundation wipe of a tribe wich we killed 1 guy and his mount and he was back with the same thing 2 mins later. those guys ran with 200kmh through the woods wich was making sniping impossible but they landed every shot perfect. dont get me wrong i love ark and i love the pvp but when the pvp starts getting frustrating cause you can do what you want but you lose everytime only cause your tribe isnt able to get this big ammount of stuff it sucks hard.

I'm going to point this out because you didn't, but when the solar system appears it shows earth being the second closest planet to the sun, that would raise the tepature to barely liveable conditions, also I have a theory, all the survivors on the arks, since they're clones(hence the infinite spawning and it says so in aberration) if the creator's clone the survivors as those survivors had shown they can survive against the worst the earth can throw at them, therefore creating an unbeatable super race

"Why is there an entrance to the ARK?"... Well, same reason you make an entrance to anything you built. You gotta get in and out, and just because you can get in and out of somewhere does not mean you should go there..
This is one of the most beautiful but unfortunately underrated comment I may have ever read.
well he did mention, if they're here to protect humans, or something like that. why would the overseer attack who its protecting. The military wont attack civilians. The fact that there is an entrance for the survivors and they can open it through artifacts etc, suggests the area was curated to be discovered by survivors. I feel like the overseer's attack isnt a defense mechanism, its a continuation of the challenges of ark. Passing that challenge, you move on to the next world.
In the end, there isnt a clear reason given for why ark was created and for what purpose, beyond maybe aliens are using ark to test humans' survival skill or something, inside little flat earths.
The arks also serve as a test for survivors, to prepare them to fight off the titans on extinction. Each ark in the course prepares survivors for some aspect or scenario they will face when they eventually are sent off to fight the titans. the overseer exists as part of this test, and respawns after it is "killed".

The strange mysterious figure and the human holograms were decoded, it says that humans themselves have gone extinct, but the "mystery figure" is an incredibly endangered species called the homo deus (man of god).
There is a theory stating how you are not even human at all, but rather homo deus.
I speculate how this is most likely the case because of the "ability" upgrade you can get such as increasing speed to an un-human level (that could just be unrelated but I like to think that you are rather not human, but instead an entirely different species)

Story time~~~~
I legit played that game from the second it was downloadable (for PS4)
I played that game 24/7 my entire winter break and would literally spend every second online when I wasn’t studying or in lectures. My tribe and 3 others formed an Alpha alliance and ruled that server for months. We welcomed beginners and created large farms and hid vaults all over the map with the valuable resources and amazing eggs.
We then sent half our members to Scorched to create a wyvern farm. Our members there joined an alpha alliance and soon we were practically indestructible as a tribe.
That was until the multiplier glitch. We had members from US, AUS, ENG, GER and FRA. there was always at least 10 members on in a server. One night server hoppers came in with a shit ton of Gigas, wyverns, Rex’s, and Rock Elems. Our Aussie members told us that they didn’t just have turtles to tank but had an army of raptors and quetz (before the speed nerf, apparently they were faster than any of our pteros) that rushed the main bases.
That was one night.
We figured whatever, we’ll just tap into our vaults and raise the eggs and rebuild in a couple days.
Apparently a server hopper stayed and followed one of the members to our vaults and they raided again late that night.
We still had more resources to rebuild easily, but at that point the politics in the game were getting restless. All the tribe leaders were arguing, even my PSN friends of like 3/4 years and I were arguing. I ended up just quitting (mostly because I had school, but also due to the stupid drama) but I kid you not if I bring up Ark around those PSN friends that drama will always come back up
Cindy S It’s a lot of fun but when I was obsessed during my last winter break, I would start to tame a Paracer, and when it was done I would look at the clock and see it’s now 5 am. Just play single player now because of how much time official servers take
-KIMG- for real. I remember taming a lvl 105 quetz my first week back in uni and I saw the clock when i finished and realized I had invertebrate zoology in 30 minutes

When it comes to aesthetics, "perfect" can be subjective. Some non-human species messing around with human genetics might think humans look better if they're squat and hairy with a face that makes Moe from the Simpsons look like Humphrey Bogart.
In my opinion I think ARK has the best lore for a survival game

My theory is that Ark is like a game show. Humans have perfected time travel and have colonized other places, and earth was left behind. So, they go back in time to get people from all walks of life, and see how they do. It would be like Naked and Afraid for humans in the future, seeing how they would survive.
so maybe like the hunger games?

I played this with my older brother and it was the best 2 player game we’ve ever played we spawned by a beach and we didn’t know what to do the first thing we did was try to kill a trike with nothing it took us 5 lives to kill then we didn’t know what to do he picked berries and I was just punching dodos we kept on eating the black berries ( the one that knocks you out) after that I searched up why I was getting o to sleep and we found out it was a narcotic after that we made some basic tools and tamed a para (forgot the name with a red crest on it) after that we tamed a raptor I wanted to take a pack of raptors as Jurassic world just released after that it took us 4 real days to finish our house (we had school) after that we started to tame other big dinosaurs our first place we explored was the swamp as we lived by it I found a carnotaurous and tried to tame it but it died after that we had some medium sized dinosaurs btw spoiler we never had a pack of 4 raptors then we tried to tame a queztadactlus sorry for spelling we almost died so we explored for mountains where my brother tamed a sabretooth and I tamed 2 arges to get metal and that is how we slowly got metal tools I also tried to make a baby raptor but it died after that we explored the snowy mountains and man did we get lucky with death we tamed 2 dire wolfs while getting attacked by the pack so we had to retreat btw we took our Argee so we could just grab them after that I made my first beef jerky so we switched to scorched earth we spawned right next to a oasis with a bunch of cactus and 50 raptors it was a massacre we bought along our arge dire wolf a spino and a rex it took us forever to kill them all and we died 2 times but we eventually killed them I discovered that the cactus sap was the best food so I mainly lived of that so we explored more and tamed the devil lizard then we ran into a golem and we almost died after that my brother slowly stopped playing with me as he started to become a softmore so we stopped playing it when we came back a year later every thing got messed up we were in a wrong clan so the stuff we Owned wasn’t ours so we officially stopped playing that game but we still played other games together just less since by the time he was more focused in the gym now he is in his first year of college

Yaghi Ziad Sounds like you and your bro aren’t much gamers. Even if you never played a game before, the experience from playing previous games, translates to other games as they generally all use similar mechanics. This game has similar mechanics with many games out there, especially games of the same genre. But trying to kill a trike out of all things, bear handed, right at the start of the game at that? Continually Eating berries called NARCOberries and not quickly understanding why you kept falling unconscious? Sounds like you two have a low IQ problem, no a lack of gaming experience...
My theory is this:
The Earth; after many centuries if not millennia, has died and the remaining humans built the Ark as a catalog or documentation of Earth's history. It's a series of 'how would this react if it encountered 'x'?' and 'would someone from 'y' time accept the way the world was in 'z' time?' A way to see how, when, where, and why things went so wrong that they killed their own home and how things might have gone differently.
By the time your survivor comes to creation, the originators are long gone and only their automated creations remain to continue their research. Thus the reason why it attacks you when you enter the final boss chambers.
You're not supposed to be out of the simulation because it skews the machines research. It considers you an anomaly that it can not leave unchecked.
Bella Luna Perhaps the dinos populate the area because they are far more formidable killing machines and the goal was to try to force humans to get along and work together peacefully to progress and prove they can be trusted to rebuild society.
But when you ascend to scorched earth Is is clear that your where supposed to. I say this because why would the implant be able to do this ( travel through space ) or why would the “overseers” or something implement a way to travel between arks or “ascend”
Your survivor is generated by the machine, but who's to say the machine doesn't drop people into different Ark domes from time to time?
But it would also make sense that the survivor can travel from Ark to Ark. It's a test after all. Once your survivor completes one test, they get 'ascended' to the next.

You forgot to mention the strange hexagonal codes in the Ascension platform, which explain a couple of things. The three boss arenas are visible, and each one is labeled 'Fire Lizard' for the dragon, 'Giant Ape' for the megapithicus, and 'Broodmother' for the broodmother, all of which are labeled 'Status: Dormant'. After that, the second room shows 'Prehistorical Species' and 'Extra Hominid Preservation Record: Extinct'. The third room shows 'Ancestral Records' and 'Homo Sapiens Preservation Record: Extinct'. The fourth and final room before the Overseer reads 'Homo Deus' and 'Homo Deus Colonist Groups: Endangered'.
Homo Sapiens (us) are extinct. Homo Deus, however they came to be, are represented by the glowing ghost hologram. Might explain why we can have such horrifically deformed player models :P
So we really ARE inbred then... lovely. Now the devs have an excuse not to make more decent looking character models.
Maybe, Homo Deus is a perfect mixture (unlike rockwell...) of humanity and tek? Homo Saphiens may be what you play as, because it says the dinosaurs are extinct too. So this species "Homo Deus" may not be a human form? Just an idea
Deus means god though, so they are gods or think of themselves as such.
@@thedreamteam5995 yes you do play as a homo sapien in Ark because I have the mobile version and if I check my specimen implant it says homo sapien (last time I checked)
And if you beat extinction, you too become Homo deus.
Ark actually has a really interacting story and I would love a book series on it, just the concepts alone are right up there in terms of sci fi
Pleaaase continue the series you told the history and lore so well, i went to other channels to relinquish my thirst for this amazing lore but they leave me wanting more !

I always thought that the ARK flashing red was Aberration because of its damage atmosphere.
Some of this is off but your the first person really to tackle the lore, you just need a more help from other lore followers to help set it straight

when this game was early access all i could talk about is how alien those drop crates were, and how alien the whole waking up with an implant. very obvious to me aliens are a theme

Everything we've thought of for aliens is all futuristic technology we never have thought possible. Aliens in the way we know them dont actually exist therefore all the "alien technology" is just human future concepts. My guess is an A.I. controls it all and we have no memory of anything because our memories from earth wont save us or help us on our adventure. All we need to know is what is in this Ark.
Thank you so much for making this video! I was so confused about everything in Ark, and why the survivor is there and where he/she came from, and who these other inhabitants were! This cleared up so many things and answered so many questions, so thank you! Also, I think I agree with your theory that Ark is set far in the future and the survivor that you play as is brought back to life, but he/she is genetically modified to be able to survive there with so many predators.
I still play Ark and love it, I got ddicted to finding these notes when I first started, I love the lore of any game but I love these synopses of the lore, thankyou so much, and I love how you use the actual music from the game.... great

WOW! After i have been playing ARK for 3 years now. This really puts it in another perspective than just surviving and taming dinosaurs. I have never really cared about the story of ARK, but after seeing this video i can never look at ARK the same way. Amazing job explaining the story!

I always had a theory that since every thing except humans are extinct in the game and it's called an "ark" that would mean this is a post apocalyptic time when humans are gone meaning they're preserved. Even thought this when the game was new

All the current survivors do retain their memories. I just finished playing for a bit today and I can assure you my memory is quite intact.
Hey has anyone else thought that maybe the arks are trials to develop the smartest and strongest humans of all time or to create them to one day beat the arks and be returned to earth to rebuild and restore the human race and that the authors are either not real but have had the memories of those people put into them or they are just clones with fake identity’s and memories or are their note created by the ark to guide you to the next ark and also going away from that but are the dinosaurs also part the the trial system I mentioned or in that timeline Jurassic Park or something like or similar to that happened on earth but the dinosaurs cause an apocalypse or their are similar creatures like dinosaurs that have taken of earth eradicateing the human population but those are just some theory’s I’ve created thanks to your video which I must say was good and well done.

Started playing this for the first time yesterday and while it was very fun and very disastrous I'm super excited to continue the island and eventually play the other maps

0:42 There’s is a single player mode I’ve been playing it. it’s the same as playing on a server except it’s just you and your tames, you can have friends join if you want but it’s your ark and they’re visiting. It’s in the host area. I know that you probably got this comment before and I was late to the party
