I don't know if you have done a video on rekeying or not. But if you haven't, you definitely should! Maybe not on something you are going to use, but I think it would make a interesting video nonetheless.
@@GoatzombieBubba I think it's more he doesn't want to show the pins for a lock in his own home (as someone could manufacture a key from the pin heights). But he could definitely show it on another lock that he wasn't using himself.
Trying to watch all of you videos, so many. So proud..I was able to pick 3 locks this weekend that were in MY little naughty bucket. Thanks for teaching us, we appreciate your time.🗝
I'm impressed with how you set up a relatively inexpensive but very secure padlock. My feeling about the Interactive locks is that they are good enough for many applications, but there are a lot of people that can pick them reliably. There's probably an optimum balance of lock strength and pick resistance - I don't know what it is, but this seems like a good setup.
There's always the problem of awakening illicit interest by having a serious lock on something. Could make a villain think there was some item of value behind that lock. You need a balance.
I replaced my builders’ deadbolts with Mul-T-Lock deadbolts and cylinders for my doors. It gives me tremendous peace of mind that my favorite lock picker, Is using these cylinders on locks he uses. I can sleep care free now…. LOVE your videos, always interesting… I have never picked or plan to pick a lock, but you make your videos very interesting.
How cool! Its always fun to come up with your own interesting combination of lock when choosing something for personal use. I have a few cool combos myself that one typically would not think would go together....
I did this to one of mine a while back with a Jr., then recently I put a interactive in it. The only problem other than the cam, is you have to leave the security nut a little loose so it doesn't bind up the core.
If you take a schlage Primus KIK and put spools and serrated pins in it, then put it into a solid steel Stanley padlock (preferably the 60mm lock) now you have a good lock
Nice pick and interesting lock. I have never tried to pick one but it looks difficult learn. One day I will get one and learn. Great video. Good luck with your new lock.
Ha, I did the same thing a while ago, but with MTL Jr KIKs. I have this lock, and the solid-bodied 24/7. I pinned two MTL Jr KIKs alike and put them in these Stanleys. I use the solid version on my storage unit. Not sure about the economics: this was about $54 . . . I can get an Abus 20/70 for $8 less, or an MTL TSR with a Jr core for $5 more. An interactive core with keys is probably at least $30 more (both KIK or in a real MTL padlock). Fun, though.
Could be the luck of the draw, but its the first time I've seen this core and I have no idea what the "interactive" part is. Also, thanks for the tip on the Stanley lock. I would have liked to have seen what kind of rear end it takes, though. I know this is all stuff I could look up, but still.
The price seems to go up on things algorithmically depending on their popularity. You can still get the non-shrouded ones for about $15. They do have the CD8820, which is a non-laminated version thats cheaper (for some reason) but appears to have all the same re-keying features and the same decent standard core. I don't really make videos myself, just trying to help in whatever limited way I can. Let me know if its actually not helping or being counter-productive.
I wish you would. have. shown how you did it after the repinning. like what else you have to do to put it in the padlock. thanks for the video all the same.
Hi, me again. I was just wanted to point out that I'm surprised you never got around to removing the flashing off of the vise you use. I have the same type of vise, but mine is metal and doesn't have that issue.
Can you do a pick after you re-key this lock to see if you have improved its pick resistance? We know how long the original bitting/pinning took to pick from this video.
Well, you inspired me to try this, and I feel like maybe I hit a snag. I had a spare junior core, but it’s activator nubbin (?) is clocked differently than the Schlage core, can’t seem to get the back hollow wafer piece to line up. Any tips?
8 mins for average expert yes, not the average LPL though! With stuff like..."nothing on 1, 2 is binding, nothing on 3, counter-rotation on 4, click on 5, click on 6, back to 1, some counter-rotation with a click, click on 2, 3 is binding...its open!" this guy is a pro ace!👍🏆
How are you gonna fit this cylinder into that padlock? It has, what it seems to, a non-spinnable anti-drill-plate that is made for a vertical keyway, and the Mul-T-lock has a horizontal keyway, making it impossible to insert the key once you have installed the Mul-T-lock into it.
+Sebastian Nielsen the drill plate rotates. Think about it... if it didn't rotate, how would the lock ever open regardless of the orientation of the keyway?
I'm actually more wondering about the tailpiece and how it would interact with the Mul-T-Lock KIK cylinder. Would this be more or less a drop-in replacement for the factory Stanley cylinder?
Nice job LPL! I've started picking these myself (trying to at least). Could you tell me the dimensions of the flag you use, and do you use the same one on classics & interactives?
In the electrical field we use interlocks called generically Kirk keys. Are you familiar with this technology? If so, how about doing a video on it, please.
Can you recommend any cheap padlocks that I can replace the core with a standard Kwikset 5-pin cylinder? I'd like to have a padlock that's keyed alike to my house but don't trust the smart key locks at all.
Thank you. I don't trust the smartkeys. I have a decoder and I know how easy those things are to defeat. Not only that, with the decoder, someone could use my gate lock to get the code to my door locks.
Brian Grant It's a direct drop in replacement, you take the actuator off the core that's in there if you need to. The stanley is schlage Sc4, very easy swap.
It would be a total bad ass to capture one invader, while he's lock picking your door under the instructions of your own video from a mounted on a selfy stick phone.... (2 is binding, 3 and 4 are lose..., and move to the beginning....) . You: "Freezzz! You've missed 1!, Let me show you again..."
Lock picking lawyer, do you think Mul-T-Lock interactive is safe enough for door of workshop located in slightly unsafe part of city (underground passage)? Thanks
Yeah it would not be a very good idea to show the key pins because I’m not one of them but I’ll bet you got a lot of people that could look at them and say OK we can make that and then look up your address Realistically it’s probably one and 100,000 people but why risk it ?
+Joe McPhail, It's all good I was being a bit of a bitch it just gets annoying sometimes seeing these comments on thousands of different videos, there are literally thousands of people each day who make the exact same comment on other videos, its obvious your're a fan of the channel like me and many others, so maybe you should try and separate yourself from the rest? for example rather than being "first" aim for always being, say, number 69, or 44, or 303, or 351 etc, find a number you really like and aim to be that view every single time to prove you're really watching and a fan? That would show more dedication than just being "first" :)
Nicky Winters Don't you understand the mindset? Dude! There's no comments yet! But yea it's really a bad habit that 1/3 of RUclips users have, and they need to cut it out. But another thing is is that really the top rated comments are just the first ones. So cancer all around.
Almost 1 minute for the Lockpicking Lawyer is at least 8 minutes for all other mere mortals.

8 minute pick lock
Watch as I pick it in 1 minute just cause

How many locks would be 8 minute pick resistant to LPL?
I was so disapointed you werent going to pick the Stanley. Then you decided to pick it! Yay! Two locks in one vid! ;)

If you're looking on Amazon, just look for "CD8823". Its about $25 on prime. You can find it cheaper, but the shipping undoes most of that.

I tought it was non-rotatable since it had that X-shaped hole, which allows for 10 degree key rotation even if it wouldn't be spinnable.
