Got a HomePod mini and have been unable to effectuate a Handoff. Called Apple Support. After an hour and a half of restarts, returning the HP to factory defaults, and playing with settings, the Support tech found a suggestion that even she thought was pretty weird-on the iPhone, I went to Settings>Privacy>Motion & Fitness and enabled Fitness Tracking. Voilà! Handoff now works as advertised. I would love to understand why that worked-the Support tech had no idea...and couldn't stop laughing. Definitely the weirdest solution I've ever encountered in almost 35 years of working with Macs.
That tech deserves a raise! Just got my homepod mini today and I went crazy trying to figure it out. Tried all the solutions all over the internet but nothing worked until I found your comment! Thanks for sharing!

What I can’t see in any of these videos is the actual delay between music on my phone and it switching to the HomePods. People keep using words like “instantly” and mine certainly are not instant. Handoff pauses the music for several seconds before the HomePods will pick it up, and often it’ll start playing on only one speaker for a few seconds before the other of the stereo pair kicks in. Is this how it works for everyone or do I have bad homepods?
I am quite annoyed with handoff after the update. Bought it yesterday, I thought my homepod mini is not working as it should. Your video cleared up everything. Thanks man!

My Xs max just doesn’t work handoff feature with my HomePod. I called apple and they checked my iPhone but they found nothing wrong. They just told me to wait for the next iOS update but it still doesn’t work. I spent 3 hours on the phone with apple support but nothing was fixed.:(

@@OneTechMind got the culprit. I live in Indonesia, for some reason in our country the u1 chip turned off. The handoff in 14.4 rely on the u1 chip, hence its no longer working.
@@randyturker But before updated to 14.4, the handoff worked nicely. I don't get why they have to messed up with 14.4. I mean apple suppose to be unlike android where every place you will annoyingly have different experience with hardware/software.

I’m kind of annoyed how iOS 15 didn’t fix any of the issues with the HomePod mini. The hand off feature is great but when you have them setup next to your laptop it becomes an annoyance. Also stereo pairing kinds of adds more issues than it is being solo.
but my handoff is never work , and I'd already tired for 3 HomePod mini, but the handoff works fine with my iPhone 12 Pro max and MacBook Pro.... can you help? even I put my iPhone on the top of the HomePod mini, it never works....
I would try restarting your phone and HomePod mini (if you haven’t already). If that doesn’t work, try removing and re-adding your HomePod in the Home app.

Handoff stopped work for RUclips videos. I use to be able to watch RUclips and handoff the audio. It stopped working after update. Is anyone else having that problem?
Yes! I noticed this yesterday as well when using the RUclips app. If you’re playing a RUclips video in Safari, it will still hand off correctly (workaround for now).
I hear you. Apple is going to release their iOS 14.5 update very soon (maybe even this coming week), which will include a HomePod mini update. I’m hoping this will improve the consistency and address some of the bugs.
this update was unnecessary and just added more bugs and issues. Come on apple 🤦🏽♂️ edit: i cant even transfer music from my phone to my homepod mini after the update and i have an iphone 11. I get the pop up but the music just doesnt sync. Thanks apple 🍎
These flipping bafoons literally get bored when they make something perfect so then do an update which breaks that perfect thing just to FUCKING PISSSSS ME OFFFF or as you call it grind you gears i flippin hate apple sometimes. I am now forced in to turning this feature off completely and have to the the stupidestqay to play through homepod mini. Control centre now playing airplay logo (even when it’s inactive) choose home pod mini set up. In onw poxy ipdate they have brokey my homepod experience
It’s awful, I feel like I wasted money on these dumb things. They’re not even wireless. And they don’t play the audio from my phone as easily as I would’ve expected. These are junk. Apple do better.

Are you also facing the lighting issue when you invoke siri ? The light kinda lag's. This has started happening since the 14.4 update

Sorry to hear that. It should definitely still work with the old Handoff. Did you try resetting the HomePod completely?

Honestly, I stopped using the new handoff because it was so buggy. I’ve seen a little improvement with 14.5, but not enough for sure.

Hey there. Your phone doesn’t have the U1 chip required for the updated Handoff proximity feature, but it still should hand music off the old way.

I would try restarting your phone and HomePod mini (if you haven’t already). If that doesn’t work, try removing and re-adding your HomePod in the Home app.

Yeah, they still are a bit buggy. Hopefully the experience catches up with the above average sound quality.
