    Today I’m planting a gorgeous Salix Brauded Willow trained in a harlequin design and here’s a link to a really good video I found on how you can do this yourself if you have access to some willow branch cuttings:

      Hi Jasmine. It’s lovely isn’t it? I fell in love at the garden centre. Shame the daffodils don’t last very long. I’m thinking of digging them all up and dividing them this year because quite a few have come up blind so they probably need that. Hope you’re having a happy week 💚

    Hi Janette, the daffodils are so beautiful but sad that they disappear so quickly. The Manly is particularly gorgeous. Your braided willow is amazing and how great that you can just chop it off and take it with you if you move house. So lucky your Mum was able to pick it up for you. The grouping of three is perfect. Have a good day. See you tonight. Love Bron xx

      Hello Bron, thank you! I fell in love seeing them at the garden centre. I know what you mean about the daffodils and then you have to put up with the leaves dying for ages too which is a pain. But I must admit I usually give up and chop the leaves down to about 4” which you’re not supposed to do but mine seem to come back ok the following year. Hope you had a great Easter 💚

However, after seeing how lovely your one looks I might think about getting one in the future. I still need to try the cloud pruning at some point. I am also still fighting of box caterpillars. Nasty little beasts. 😟 I should have done what you did and stopped planting box. Looking forward to the next video 😊

      Hello Pauline, I had never seen those braided willows for sale anywhere until last weekend, we turned the corner in the garden centre and I thought wow! I hope you get one too. And give the cloud pruning a go because it always grows back if you make a mistake and don’t like it. Sorry you have the box caterpillars, as you know I really did try with mine but 2 years later my little euonymus plants have grown such a lot and they are on the way to being the same size as the boxwoods were so now I’m pleased I got rid of them. It’s a tough decision because plants are expensive. Anyway, hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend 🐣💚

I haven’t seen them for sale before and I fell in love on immediate sight and just had to have one. When I google it tells me they are very frost hardy, but will be much less hardy if they are in a pot, so might be better in the ground for you. Also I’ve noticed little shoots popping up further down the stems so I’m making sure to rub those off if I see them. And they like water, water, and then more water 😊 hope you have a very happy day. Happy Easter! I was just wondering how big does your willow branches get? Here willow trees get huge. If you keep pruning does it keep the size down? There is are a problem here Canada, with the roots getting into drainage pipes, they crave water. They are beautiful in parks, and along country roads. My Dad always said keep willow trees away from your house. I don’t mean to sound negative, because I really like your plant. I don’t always do what my Dad said, but…most of the time I do.

    • @TheEnthusiasticGardener
      @TheEnthusiasticGardener  2 месяца назад

      Hello Nancy and thanks for your comments. These willow branches are never going to grow taller, they’ll stay the exact same size as now, and it’s just the shoots and new leaves which grow or die off in the winter and regrow again in Spring. I’m not sure though how bushy it’s actually going to get, but I think if it’s too bushy at the top then I can trim it a bit. That’s what I’ve been researching anyway. I hope I’m right! 😂 they do crave water though I’m told. Have a happy Easter 🐣

      Yes, it says “Even if planted in the ground, the ‘bonsai effect’ of trimming the tops of your Wand means the root run stays proportionate in size, so never get too big either. The stem will also say fixed in length.” 💚

    if you take the willow sculpture as a bunch of flowers , or an annual , or a bulb OK makes sense .Rip it out after a years or so and plant it in a park . But as a long term plant , its a very vigorous ,"competitive" tree that will overpower everything you have in your garden unless you like a lot of maintenance . If you have lots of space ( for 10M native trees) for trees great why not .booohhh soz , that's some bad party poop there , forgive me , its easter ;)

      Hi Alan, never fear, I have researched these braided willow stems which confirms “Even if planted in the ground, the ‘bonsai effect’ of trimming the tops of your Wand means the root run stays proportionate in size, so never get too big either. The stem will also say fixed in length.” So both the roots and height are forced into staying under control. But, thank you for worrying about mine, I have faith it’s going to be ok!! 👍😊 hope you had a Happy Easter 💚
