HI I HOPE YOU ARE IN IT FOR THE LONG RUN PLEASE. (LONG COMMENT) Sorry im 2 weeks late or so, the reason (for me) that detective conan never took off as much as One Piece (which is shorter btw) is cuz the plot is much more realistic, yes Shinichi shrinks and there are many gatgets. but this show (manga adapted cases) make you think and sometimes connect to the larger plot at the end of an arc, there are no anime fights (tho there are some action moments) and if you @weaintseenitreactions are in it for the long haul blind i would love you for it. there is also the fact that the dub in english changed names and stuff so that also would make it feel more silly than it should, plus it stopped literally before a major character starts making things more interesting. I personally would not be mad if you skipped anime only cases both to make the journey a bit shorter, so development doesn't drag and makes you stop and because following only the manga cases is a way to get consistant character traits the anime episodes might change for the sake of an episode also there are currently 27 movies and specially later ones are much more treated as canon so i'd watch those too if you find a guide as to where to place them and again THANKS AND I HOPE YOUR IN IT TILL THE END

The ticket sales for the latest movie (the 27th one in the franchise) brought the total viewership of the entire series over the course of its lifetime to 100 MILLION viewers! Yeah. The whole Sleeping Kogoru thing is Shinichi/Conan’s very drawn-out humbling experience. Ironic, really, as Sherlock Holmes was also very humble about staying out of the overt limelights, content with Solving Crimes/Puzzles For Solving’s Own Sake and letting justice be done.
I absolutely adore detective Conan reactions they're so hard to find like I mod for another person who watches it on occasion & have even made him a checklist for the entire series that has every episode in order with when you can watch every opening or ending without spoilers not to mention the proper placement for every movie OVA special & spin off I absolutely adore this series it is so good at times sure can drag but it is worth it in the long run. Like seriously one piece might be my favorite anime but my all-time favorite anime character comes from this franchise

Wow, I am so happy to see you have decided to dive into the world of Detective Conan and give this awesome series a go! I really like your review of both of these episodes. Some of the questions you had about things would be explained in the manga though, as the anime took quite a few liberties with the source material in the first season or so. Your question about Shinichi's parents were answered in a way when Ran reminded her drunkard dad that his parents moved to America three years before the events in the series. Since Shinichi & Ran are sixteen at this point, that means his parents left him in Japan to raise himself when he was only thirteen. I know the Japanese instill self-accountability and responsibility in their children at a young age, but still, poor Shinichi, living on his own while just a young teenager. (As someone who grew up as a latchkey kid, I can relate to Shinichi a little bit at least on that part of his life.) As the series progresses and he gets used to living with Ran and her father, his opinion on the situation gradually changes over time. He never speaks of it, but you can tell by his behavior how it becomes more natural for him, and you can tell that he actually enjoys having a little family to belong to again. You will be meeting and get to know Shinichi's actual parents in time though. Just be patient.
There's actually a special episode where they remade this whole episode 1 and it gave much more depth to the whole thing as well as foreshadow some things in the show

@@WeAINTseenITREACTIONS The manga doesn't use any such filters or censors, you just see the gushing blood as it was realistically portrayed, which made the first couple of chapters of the manga so shocking. Definitely a memorable way to begin a mystery series!

Which I never understand why people are so discouraged by an ongoing series. I usually don't want a show to end if it's consistently pushing out good stories. So I'm in it for the long run.
Love Detective Conan, although the cases are so complicated that I completely solve a case only like once every 50 episodes. It's especially hard when the solution to the case demands knolwedge of kanji or obscure japanese facts.
Also, while Conan's first name comes from Conan Doyle, his last name come from Edogawa Ranpo who's also a famous mystery writer. Kogoro is named after a character from Ranpo's novels.
I actually managed to solve the case with the three "killers" of the actor as soon as I heard of it. Mainly because an old disney comic had a similar plot. Only there it was a kidnapping.
I Remenber this series i like it this show its has alot dark murder case and solve mystery and drama now this has over 1100 episodes plus its has many movies too

As a fan of Detective Conan (more specifically a fan of a character that shows up in episode 76, not spoiling who), I can't wait to see how your journey with this show hold. Detective Conan reactions are always welcomed. Only advice is to enjoy the ride because the "plot" is rather spaced out. It's better to just have fun with the trivia that gets sprinkled around each mystery.
this randomly popped up on my recommendations. for a show that has been running for 28 years to this day, i'm quite surprised to see someone reacting to the series. this has 1,139 episodes and 27 movies to this day and is still an ongoing series with movies released every year. i'm looking forward to your 'case closed' journey! subscribed! also, the movies are not canon but all 27 movies are worth watching specially when the artstyle kept improving so much. will you also watch the movies?
I remember seeing a clip of this in your TMNT 2003 reactions and thinking now this is a fellow man of culture! Glad to hear you might be continuing with this show on the channel.
To answer your question of how the show handles romance. Ran never finds out that Conan is Shinichi. She comes close several times where she believes he is or may be Shinichi, but each time Conan or one of his allies finds a way to keep up his charade. Yes other than Agasa, some other characters find out Conan is Shinichi. Beyond them more and more still realize that he's likely the smartest person in whatever group he is in, if they don't realize outright he has been solving the cases all along. As the series progresses, Conan still finds a way to keep in touch with Ran. Then there are the times when he is able to turn back into Shinichi briefly. The romance progresses, but slowly and only between "Shinichi" and Ran, not Conan and Ran.
Just a heads up, despite the main theme of this anime being murder mystery, there is a main story plot line, however, the quality of these crime stories, well, let’s say it drop sometimes. I can assure you you will have a great time, but just a head up that these anime will have it flaws when it is 1000 episodes long and writers are going to run out of ideas
Finally! Nothing against new anime, but there's so many great ones I grew up with in the 90s! This is one of them. I wasn't super into it cause I had other ones at the time but now I am!

Maybe they could do new anime series with alternate universe versions of DC, like what would have happened if Shinichi's parents had not been so accommodating to him, and his location had been changed? What if the rest of the kids aged in a normal timeline, and Conan and Ai did not? What if one set of Shinichi's grandparents had come by for a visit and had found their grandson missing, but then met Conan? What if any of the law/intelligence agencies who eventually come into contact with Conan had decided to do a background investigation into the mysteriously bright little boy? Of course, they could just do a series with Shinichi being a detective as a grown adult eventually if he ever finds a solution to his problem, but a lot of the fun of the series comes from the juxtaposition of this little boy being the catalyst to all these mysteries getting solved, as well as all the cloak & dagger & intrigue that surrounds him as well.
I'm going to get a lot of hate for this but I love the English dub for this show. They only did five seasons of it but something about the funimation voice actors is so nostalgic for me.

Also I am also recommend you to watch movie. Movie 1~9 are really great. A lot of people like movie 6. For me personally , movies 4 is the best. (In case series became hard to catch up)
