I applied for a job that I met 100% of the job description. My resume was tailored exactly to it. I sent a personal note talking about how I love what they do and how much autism means to me. I was instantly rejected.
Sometimes, it's not about your skills. It's about if you'll be a good fit, and by that I mean if you're the "right" race. Keep applying to other companies, regardless.
yes that's happened to me both recently and past situations as well. From my experience...either they may already have somebody lined up internally to take that position or working with a recruiter they are partnered with…they just have to put the job posting out there and let it stay up for certain period of time but slow on taking the job posting down. I've seen it happen before in previous jobs situations or it could be some AI bot thats processing stuff lol you never know what AI is doing these days lol . But anyway I know one thing.....what ever God has for you is for you brother keep digging till you strike gold
I think it happened to me a couple of times. I agree with you Kevin, hiring managers and even HR people, could take a few minutes to learn about a candidate and given them a shot.
Maybe I'm one of the lucky folks but that hasn't happened to me yet... I work in IT in NY and always get a call or email requesting an interview when I apply for places. Not to mention the many recruiters that reach out to me on linkedin..No college degree with 7 years of experience. Crazy how you haven't been able to find anything yet.
If this was a position in healthcare IT, i would say that sounds about right. I know some HR depts are just incompitent but a big reason is IT depts trying to promote from within and hold these positions open on job sites as a formality. Hospitals do this for union members when postings come out. If I see a position open at my place, I'll keep.you in mind.
It could be a couple of things, the ATS system could be looking at your employment length in your previous jobs and exclude you because you didn't stay at your job for a certain amount of time. Some recruiters and hiring managers will see that as a flight risk, where you'll get bored and look for a new job within 1 or 2 years. Another reason is the jobs you are applying to are not looking to be filled by the company who posted them. This is a common tactic to show that a company is growing and expanding to investors. It can be viewed that if a company doesn't have active recruitments, then they are stagnating, and their stocks can take a negative hit.
They can blacklist your name. It happened to me 2 weeks ago. I left my company 4 months ago due to my manager's abusive and unethical tactics,. I gave my job a 4 weeks notice. Although I don't need a job, I wanted to test the job market and I have been getting rejections left and right. I got a rejection email in less than a minute. I thought it was ATS, so I had 3 different people send the same resume but of course, their names and other info were changed, and they haven't got a rejection yet. I believe they can blacklist your name.
As an 50 yr old trying to transition into IT from a 21yr law enforcment career, this is very deflating. If someone with your knowledge, experience and ability is having difficulty getting a position, how does someone with no experience even get a look. At times learning and studying for all these certs just seems pointless. Hate to be a downer but I can be too much of a realist.
I happened to me here in the caribbean, company advertise anonymously in the newspaper. I applied, got the interview and when they saw where i lived on resume, I was instantly rejected because it was too far from their office. Now mind you, when I attended the interview I got to their office 4hrs before they opened. It's crazy out here. I wish I was told all these stupid tricks these companies play while attending school growing up so i could've been better prepared. Getting ready to move on from my current job, since it is not going anywhere

Only time I had this happen is because I was applying for a position that I definitely wasn't qualified for. Doesn't sound like that was the case for you so idk that really isn't a good system that they have in place.
Happened to me, spend time to made the resume then checked it hour later to know how many applied, says not selected. I was like 80% qualified and checked the description, even tailored it.

@jameslos4733 you can't really get work experience on citrix. You can signed up for an account and do training and probably watch some videos on RUclips. Old videos on citrix.
You're not entitled to a job just because you feel you are qualified. Companies don't need to respond or provide feedback. Also, you might get better audio out of your Blue Yeti if you turn the logo facing your mouth.
These companies want unicorns with multiple Masters degrees and 10+ years of experience for entry-level roles. It's ridiculous.
And then these same companies cry about labour shortages. Bunch of 🤡s

It has been may be rejected by ATS resume checker.

That's also true
bs, stop playing the victim and be better.
@patman4917 that's a real thing. I was discriminated in a job because I'm hispanic. Please don't judge people if you never were in there shoes.
I've experienced this before and it absolutely sucks.
They reject simply because they have obligation to keep the job advertizement going. yet don't rly need someone
