One commenter, a female I might add, was told she was abused as a child and this woman said "in her case, it was justified!". You made changes in this world Sinead. You touched so many lives. I hope you are happy where you are now. It was such a successful life you had spiritually and worldly.
When the Catholic Church held all the power, some four hundred years ago, she would have been burned at the stake. It is incredibly disturbing to hear a crowd in the twentieth century react in that way. She spoke the truth regardless of the impact on her, because she knew what the abuse of children was actually like. I was not a fan of her music, but I have been very moved by her tragic death and the struggles she went though which few of us perhaps really appreciate. She dies an icon. I have just watched an interview with the director of a documentary about her. She said that when she premiered the documentary in Ireland, at the moment when Sinead tore up a photo of the Pope, the entire audience stood up and cheered. It is a shame that most of those at the Dylan concert, despite Dylan being himself an iconic protest singer in his youth, did not see what she was standing for and just how right she was.
I loved this woman, but she was not right here. The Pope was no supporting the child abuse. Neither the Church. The vast majority of priest don't practice it. The Catholic Church have been suffering a discredit campaign since the XVIII century and Sinead was a prey of this campaign.
@@bushratbeachbum Agreed. It should have been him that went out there. He should have spoken to the crowd. What she did was expose the institutionalised abuse within the Catholic Church. Dylan for all his sub-Woody Guthrie protest songs never as far as I know, make such a direct and challenging public statement.
Bob Dylan and his fan were straight up rude to Sinéad O'Connor, a protest singer (wasn't that what Bob wanted to be?) and a rebel who spoke up for civil rights and against abusers. Did she give up? Did she sell out? She did not. She endured and continued to sing protest songs. Rest in Peace and in Power, Sinéad. ❤💚 💔💜
RIP - Nothing compares may be her most famous song among casual listeners . But this moment right here thou, this moment when it feels like the whole world is against you but you spoke out what you knew was right. And to be right years later when the truth is undeniable. Powerful.
Fuck yes!!!! She was courageous and bold, despite those who tried to break her spirit from a young age. Through her trauma she rose, and shared her voice for those who had none, for the vulnerable, the abused, the disadvantaged, the underdog. It was about something much bigger than her. She was here to help open peoples eyes and she did that. RIP Sinead. May god bless all of us as we try to make sense of this earthly life.

The Dylan fans, who I guess would have described themselves as left radicals once about at time, really show their true colours here. They should really be ashamed of themselves. The look of contempt on Sineads face just before she walks off is magical.
What a bad ass. She was talking about things that people were completely oblivious to and didn't give a crap to understand... and they tried to destroy her for it. What do those people think about the roman church abusing children now? It makes me angry how someone who is such a beautiful artist and popular artist a couple of years before this can get trashed by so many. And the horrible thing is you can see now what this did to her life, and now she just lost her son.
Yes they should hang their heads in shame. Easy to boo in a crowd. Sinead stood on stage steadfast. She bowed to no one. One brave lady. Sinead as an Irish person very proud of you. Sleep in peace you beautiful, courageous lady. 💜🙏

She was RIGHT!!! It is the finest blades that are most easily blunted, bent, or broken. And thank you for your initial real courage Sinead. Informing the world of factual abuse and atrocities, way before we were prepared to hear it, so forcefully. As an abused child, this warrior refused to roll a blind eye. "Through their own words, they will be exposed!" STRENGTH & COURAGE! And mental illness doesn't mean someone is "crazy or a loonie." Blessings to all! 🥰
As a matter of fact Sinead is someone I've had plenty of personal contact with, and someone I am lucky enough to have known, and I've yet to meet a human being on this earth who even slightly compares to her. She doesn't suffer fools gladly as we all know, yet too,few know also that she's a profound genius born years ahead of her time. Music aside, Sinead is a kind, warm, fragile soul who doesn't even know herself how unique she is, nor.the she has the most beautiful eyes I've ever looked into
She was probs staring dylan down cause that coward sat in the audience and did nothing for his crowds booing her. Kris done more to help when he said don't let the b get you down. Dylan sat there like a cowardly stooge.
She was soooo beyond her years and before her time. Her ferocity, her creed and her honesty are beyond measure. The world is a better place because of Sinéad O’Connor.
As she's singing the last word and shooting that look at the audience around 12 sec. from the end, something kind of amazing happens. I don't know to call it - just every time I watch it, I see it.
I think I see it too. It's a really complicated look. But she knows she's right. She knows that, in adapting the Bob Marley lyrics to address child abuse specifically, she was speaking for God.

Well said
I loved this woman, but she was not right here. The Pope was no supporting the child abuse. Neither the Church. The vast majority of priest don't practice it. The Catholic Church have been suffering a discredit campaign since the XVIII century and Sinead was a prey of this campaign.
And Dylan standing in the wings doing nothing.
I lost a lot of respect for him after this.
@@bushratbeachbum Agreed. It should have been him that went out there. He should have spoken to the crowd. What she did was expose the institutionalised abuse within the Catholic Church. Dylan for all his sub-Woody Guthrie protest songs never as far as I know, make such a direct and challenging public statement.
were just a few in the crowd. hardly the whole crowd. she was being cheered in the beginning mostly.
People are afraid of the truth and bravery to talk about things that they just want to cover up! Beautiful, courageous Sinead. An inspiration.
what does bob have to do with this, dumbass
and when did he want to be a protest singer
Thank you!!
Bob Dylan, fake american " realness "...easier to sell records by faking protest songs I guess
Beautiful
was Dylan even there? Did he Boo?
❤
That´s what integrity is about. What a soul, and what a human being!! By the way, she was right...
she got tegridy
Now she's a Muslim so she doesn't care about women's and LGBTQ rights. Such a hypocrite.
Respect Sinead!...Sound of Freedom.....
This artist new truth way before the rest of us....May she RIP with her beloved Son & may God watch over her children...Bless you Sinead. YOU WILL BE MISSED!
The Dylan fans, who I guess would have described themselves as left radicals once about at time, really show their true colours here. They should really be ashamed of themselves. The look of contempt on Sineads face just before she walks off is magical.
One of the most iconic performances in music history.
May Sinead Rest In Peace.
🇮🇪 To those of you who booed that night I say: Shame on you. Sinead was right all along. You were wrong. Rest in Peace dear Sinead🌹 🇮🇪
They were the child abusers booing
May Allah have mercy upon her
Thank you
Yes they should hang their heads in shame. Easy to boo in a crowd. Sinead stood on stage steadfast. She bowed to no one. One brave lady. Sinead as an Irish person very proud of you. Sleep in peace you beautiful, courageous lady. 💜🙏
So true God bless with all my heart ❤
That is so incredibly brave! What an impressive person, even at such a young age. Chapeau Sinead O'Connor!

Bien dicho.

"Don’t let the bastards get you down" - RIP Kris Kristofferson
As a matter of fact Sinead is someone I've had plenty of personal contact with, and someone I am lucky enough to have known, and I've yet to meet a human being on this earth who even slightly compares to her. She doesn't suffer fools gladly as we all know, yet too,few know also that she's a profound genius born years ahead of her time. Music aside, Sinead is a kind, warm, fragile soul who doesn't even know herself how unique she is, nor.the she has the most beautiful eyes I've ever looked into
Proof?

Shame those who knew her couldn't help in her desperate hour of need 😢

An incredibly brave woman. We didn't deserve her.
Thank you, Sinead. Youre always inspiring me. ❤❤❤
Youre all around us now.
The defiant look on her face at 3:37 is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
Way to go, Sinead! In their face, NO FEAR!
Yes no fear, thank you
Little Girl with big balls! Respect.
the Pope retired today, too much pressure from the truth about the Catholic church's child abuse practices. Sinead is one strong, truth telling woman.
Forever grateful for your advocacy when nobody else would....Rest in Power Queen!
They weren't ready for you, Sinead. And some of them still aren't. You were so far ahead of the rest of us. Good journey, beautiful angel.
" this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you" .....
So much courage, bravery and integrity ♥️ rest in peace
She was brave and courageous! 🙌🏾 She spoke the truth…! Rest with the angels
Sinéad O'Connor. 🕊️🤍🌻
As she's singing the last word and shooting that look at the audience around 12 sec. from the end, something kind of amazing happens. I don't know to call it - just every time I watch it, I see it.
?
I think I see it too. It's a really complicated look. But she knows she's right. She knows that, in adapting the Bob Marley lyrics to address child abuse specifically, she was speaking for God.
Kris: “Don’t let the bastards get you down”
Sinead: “I’m not down!”
A defiant, proud Queen until the end 💪🏼 She fought the power and was ahead of her time. ارقد في سلام Shuhada' Sadaqat ☪️

May you see her again today .

Saw this at the time on tv news, it was incredible. I was a big fan of Sinead since mandkinka, was lucky to see her live on one of her tours. She had an incredible voice live both with music behind her or accapella. A tiny figure on the stage with a huge vouch and yet vulnerable and fragile. Love you Sinead ❤
Just amazing. Her strength, dignity and her incredible artistry in the face of a hostile, ignorant mob, to just bust out Marley's War acapella, SMH. Thank God for the rare people like her who make a stand for the right thing and pay the price.
Powerful woman who stood for her rights and freedom of speech with no compromise. Troubled, but beautiful mind with the siren voice of an archangel. I hope she found her peace.🙏🏻
Not troubled.
Just witch-hunted.
Same old, same old.
Beautifully said.
Thank you
Wow, i dont really know what to sayy about the whole ripping the picture incident. But the way she bravely stood in front of this crowd was amazing.
As a kid in a catholic kids home I applauded her I yelled thank you !!! my sisters and I were all sexually abused by the sick church
Brought tears to my eyes. She was so talented and so beautiful.
Sinead…you are a warrior for real peace, justice and human hope. Thank you for giving a voice to so many!
This woman was ahead of her time, it's maddening to see how the world condemned her but time proved her right and all these idiots who at some point pointed at her had to swallow their words, Sinéad O'Connor you were a brave and great woman. This world was very small for you and I hope that you and your son are in a better place, where there is happiness and no suffering. R.I.P
She was ridiculed for it. It wasn’t Bob Dylan’s finest hour. He said nothing. It was another signal that rock music was dying from within. Poor Sinead, she’s gone from one tragic episode to the next. I hope she finds peace one day.
Why was it not Bob Dylans finest hour? I'm proud of her for doing what she done and if you don't YOU are part of the problem.
@@marinaharding2789 Umm, it was his benefit, if any of the performers were to speak out over the crucifying Sinead unfairly took, yeah, should've been Bob, especially w his history of standing up against the establishment
@cwcody2364 Was he even there..? This kinda backclapping stuff really isn't his scene.
@@dylanthompson8511 Yes, he was. Kris was the only person who stood up for Sinead that night.

was pissed off how she was treated and I'm still pissed off,
she was an angel, she was a human being and had a voice of an angel 🙏
que mujer tan admirable, valiente, coherente con lo que siente y piensa, la admiro mucho y tiene una voz preciosa
Brave soul… at peace at last. So blessed to have seen her live on several occasions.
Unbelievable how much courage she had to do that.
Brave person - this was the absolute tough crowd scenario true artists are faced with - but few actually face physically. She did. RIP x
She was right all the time and the people make fun of it all really stupid and didn’t understood what was going on at that time and days. Kris stood up for her he was a real man to do that for her. So glad we have woman and heroes like Sinead. ❤❤❤
she didn't insult a billion people. she insulted one man. to think otherwise would be toxic masculinity rearing its ugly egotistical head.
Yeah, it’s always best to keep your mouth and let abusers carry on abusing.
I suppose protest singers need to only stick to the truths that are comfortable right? In the spirit of honouring Bob Dylan she was the most honest voice to pay respect.
Weird, why would a bob Dylan, a Jew have a fierce catholic fanbase?
@@mberg9076I disagree. She had the courage of her convictions. Bravo to her.
Sinead kept her head in the face of undeserved adversity. The whole celebrity crowd back stage should have come out and given her a standing ovation in support after this. Sinead the Braveheart.
man, I got shivers just watching this and the SNL vid. I can't imagine what it felt like for her!
She is everything we wish we could be. Strength, fire, truth.
People are such a bunch of pricks.
I've the deepest respect for this woman!
I don't understand these people who came to the Bob Dylan Tribute, even Bob Dylan himself was attacked, and Sinead who was abused as a teenager by the Catholic Church was booed by the audience that should be for her, imo she is an angel and a warrior, sleep well dear, I hope you are in a better place now.
wow.she i an amazing woman, she was so young back then and its amazing how strong she was..when im that age i wish i could have that amount of courage.
Thank you for making this dramatic film available as we reflect on the life of a person who spoke to the evil in this world, and who was willing to take steps few of us would take to symbolize the rejection of that evil.
I'll never forget watching her and I couldn't have loved Sinead anymore than I did in that moment. WAR! Damn fucking straight!
This beautiful woman had it all, really all, what a loss. No one will ever match her.
As americans we take pride in our right of freedom speech. But this is how people react when someone actually has something important to say?
Firstly she’s NOT even American why should we respect someone who doesn’t even respect our anthem. Yeah, whomever is here has every right to say whatever. And everyone else has just as much a right to trash the fck outta them.
Access denied 🙅♂️
I had the privilege of seeing Sinead on 3 occasions. 2 around the Lion and one much later in Australia. She was a powerhouse of creative and cathartic passion. A wonderous honesty in a see of lambs to the slaughter. The world is brighter because of her, and darker in her absence. Watch the courage and others' shame.
