- Hey guys, You asked for it, you got it! A lot of you requested that I react to the Sonisphere concert... well here it is! I decided to do the entire BM performance because why not?! Ha ha ha! Let's go!!!
many have talked about how confident Su is in front of a crowd. in the song Gimmie Chocolate she has so much confidence that she had a foreign crowd singing japanese with her. that is confidence and stage presence. not many can do what she does. 5 songs that changed metal forever. their merch outsold all other bands even Metallica and other big name bands for even three days after this performance.
I heard that they were the top talking point too that weekend.

Yeah, BabyMetal songs mean a lot to metal heads it's true metal core and positive unlike some of the angsty teen metal core, something for us older metal fans is great.
Me too. As we know the journey it took to get there all starting from the festival from the previous year.
When you consider their ages , it's amazing what they did there. The bravery to do it is one thing ,but crowd was under control within a couple of songs. Brilliant.

Great stuff. I was at this gig as my wife is a massive Iron Maiden fan. We weren’t too far from the stage ( the girl with purple hair was not far from us). Imagine our surprise when the highlight was three tiny little Japanese girls and their band of masterful musicians. I have never fully recovered and although I have seen them a few times since (and they have improved greatly) I will never forget the impact they had that day. The happy smiles on their faces at the end was worth the ticket price alone. 🦊

Thanks Henrik, I had to do it. One song would have left me wanting more. Plus, I wanted to see the crowds reaction from start to finish and compare.
@@FilAmConnections, there was a slightly longer fancam compilation that had nearly a million views before it was taken down. In it, at the end just after the trio did their exit stage right, the festival announcer comes on the PA system. You hear him laugh and then say "Holy sh!t!" 🤣
Smart move...this performance is the golden ticket for babymetal. It was a confident booster they needed
I think the crowd were really into it when they started Catch Me If You Can song.
most of us were stunned and stuck in that wtf moment during BMD but came around in the middle of gimme chocolate but yea catch me if you can the place just goes nuts,its such a brilliant song for getting a crowd going.

A lot of fans said about the "nervous" thing, but in reality the girls weren't like that, they said they were more like interested and surprised about this, a little bit with anxiety for MoaMetal but that's it, the girls had some troubles on stage thou, so is almost unavoidable not worried about it but they carried this through with so much professionalism.
For example at 3:11 you see YuiMetal having some trouble with the flag stucking in her head, I think MoaMetal saw this and later at 3:23 you see she's making a mistake not opening her arms on time.
Later on IDZ troubles with the IEM device for MoaMetal and falling down when doing the battle choreo, YuiMetal got her skirt ripped off, you can see the red piece floating around, our tomato princess, that's why we call her Yuibot, she keeps going on and on no matter what, tomorrow June 20 is her birthday.

Hey Jake, you're welcome! I did noticed some "mistakes", but it was pretty minimal in my opinion. It's the sort of stuff that happens during a lot of live shows, so not a big deal. I liked that Yui continued to do her thing despite a piece of her skirt was torn. It made her looked more bad ass; more metal! Overall, a very satisfying set from BM. I'm glad that nobody threw anything or booed them. It looked like everyone had a good time!
@@FilAmConnections Yeah I'm glad that too, but unfortunately there was a case when someone threw a bottle and other things when live tour in other countries, that's pretty dangerous because the girls can slip when doing the choreo, that's why MoaMetal said "Throwing, Dame, Zettai" 😂🤘
I think the IEM issue occurred during Babymetal Death intro, which is why Moa missed her cue.
Yeah moas earpiece wasn't working and she missed the opening choreo. You can see yui notice it at 3:28. It was so close to disaster and then they just obliterated it ❤️

Fun reaction and great choice. Stripped down, no huge production, unknown crowd and…it just works. They just bring it every time they perform. I would suggest at least on your own watching Ijime Damme Zettai from this show. It is on their page. You can get the full sound and crowd much better.
Excellent content , well done on finding and reacting to the whole set. The fan cam audio doesn't do them (especially Su) justice of course, but you got how the atmosphere was and how hard the girls and the Kami Band were working.
The opening number was 'BABYMETAL Death'. I would recommend the live at Legend 1997 version where they played it for the finale rather than (as was most usual) the opening number.

Amazing! Babymetal is heavy, fast and, at the same time, sweet. I thought the live version of the song "Karate" was part of the same performance. I recommend this live version of Karate and in the studio, because it is also charming! Yui and Mikio guitar are unforgettable. I've watched this performance several times. It's amazing! Long live Babymetal!!!!
Sonisphere, UK was in 2014, Karate was part of the album released in 2016, You are probably thinking of Download, UK 2016
I feel ya bro. ❤️When you see tears you know it's a genuine reaction. First time I saw them live, i couldn't breath for the whole hour. I fell in love with this band so much, i followed their tour 5 years in a row. I've been to 20 shows, including Japan. And i cry every time I see them. They're amazing, humble, and talented young women. I'm a fan for life.

Yui struggling with her hoodie towel and getting late to the first pose of BMD is soooooo cute. Not to mention Moa missing her cue. But as she did something similar on their very first live performance this can be considered a feature LoL

Moa didn't have sound on her in-ear-monitor, so corrected for it quickly and got sound moments later by the sound person.
This happened because this was Babymetal's first western festival and they didn't really have good communication with the festival on when they were allowed and in what way to set up, sound check, etc. Which is also why the Kami band did the sound check. And Kobametal was on stage helping with set up as well.

It's been a while since I have watched this.The cool thing about fancam videos is that we can hear how stable Su's vocals really are live, despite the dancing and jumping.
I wonder whether Moa and Yui's vocals were 100% live at this show. It sounded to me like they were.
There is a photo of the trio looking pretty grim just before they went on.
I am sure it helped that there were several hundred existing fans (or more) already up front, including a contingent from Japan. But there is a story that goes: Su- knew they were winning the crowd during the first song. Yui knew a couple/few songs in. Moa maintained a determined attitude the whole set.
Yui took a peek at the crowd and ran back to Moa concerned or rumours are she said have you seen them we are "rude word" lol
No idea why they were playing this gig it was either a stroke of genius on their agents part or the guy was a loony sending 3 school girls to what essentially was a Slayer/Maiden gig.
Su took the moment like she had been waiting for it all her life,sadly the cam footage never does reality justice with the sound.

the giant mug at 12:40 surprised tf out of me. Also if u want u could react to the Moabanger and Yuibanger "Headbanger" specials they did for their birthdays. Unlike Yui's, Moa's own is pretty recent so there are pretty good quality videos. But they are both worth watching if you have not. Great reaction vid and please do more if you can find more concerts, this was amazing!

Sonisphere Festival:-
The Sonisphere Festival was a touring rock music festival which took place across Europe between the months of June and August. The festival are owned by John Jackson and Kilimanjaro Live. It was jointly promoted by K2 and Kilimanjaro Live. It hosted heavy metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Mötley Crüe, Slayer, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Avenged Sevenfold and BABYMETAL (the latter group would make their UK debut at the 2014 event).
Sonisphere Festival:-
•Genre: Heavy metal, rock, punk rock. comedy
•Dates: June / July / August.
•Location: Europe.
•Years active- 2009-2016.
The festival has not taken place in the UK since 2014. Stuart Galbraith, CEO of Kilimanjaro Live, revealed in 2018 that Sonisphere will not return to the UK, due to financial issues.

Since you saw the Sonisphere show, you aught to look at the Kami bands sound check where they entice the crowd with their skills, it's only a minute or two tho, and Koba is on stage too.
