I feel like Catalyst's wall will probably be less effective against Crypto, since he can pilot his drone over the wall to bypass the anti-scan. Maybe this'll see him become a little more useful as a soft counter to Catalyst? Also wondering if his EMP can destroy Catalyst's tactical

The IRL science behind an EMP and ferrofluid he should be able to destroy the wall with a EMP. But because this is a video game, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Some key take aways which I believe will make her A tier very quickly -
During a gun fight you throw her spike strip down, now your opponent not only has to focus on you but also avoiding the wall of fluid. Huge advantage seeing as catalyst and move freely around her own spike strip.
If you need to get the res on a downed mate. Use her ultimate and anyone that comes through will get straight beamed by you because not only will be that be disoriented from crossing through the wall they won't know your exact position. Easy change for you to get a key knock.
The reinforcement ability is so clutch because it's a passive so you can use it over and over again with no cool down. So you basically have infinite doors in building fights which is a huge advantage while being pushed by a team who wants in that building.
Plus just the fact she is the only legend that can prevent scans.
She will definitely be S tier.
1. Her spike strip is basically a small section...unless you're fighting in a tight corridor you can literally just walk around it. It's a slightly better Ash tactical, and Ash's tactical sucks lol.
2. You can only reinforce two doors at a time. Most buildings in Apex worth bunkering have like, 3-5 doors in them. It's not something you can use "over and over and over again"
She's a bunker legend. She'll be B tier at most, on par with Wattson or Caustic. Catch her anywhere out in the open and she's useless unless she uses her ult.

She has two charges on her tactical so she will be able to put a lot more use than you’d expect in those situations compared to Ash and not only that but there’s a huge difference between Cat and Ash’s tacticals. Ash only binds her enemies to an area while still allowing them full movement in that area while enemies trapped by Cat’s tactical are slowed which will force the enemy to either focus you with horrible strafe speed, break the tactical and risk getting beamed, or try to slowly get out of it.
2. You actually can keep using her reinforce passive over and over again because she can still lock down doorways that have been destroyed as shown in her character trailer. Sure she can only do it once or twice at a time depending on if it’s a double or single door but once the enemy is about to break it or she gets flanked she can set up another one to reset herself once again rinse and repeat style, sure a coordinated team can probably take care of business but it’s a super strong ability in a lot of situations.
S tier legend. She has the best abilities in the game hands down.

scans mostly are used to just know enemies are around, we dont need to know the exact location. a massive black wall will tell us "oh there is a man on the other side, time to kill" there are so many ways to get over a wall. this ult will be most useful trapping people outside zone, rather than stopping poeople from knowing where you are
it's only going to be strong in doors, it's a camping ability. plop up your wall in a hallway and then plop caustic traps or wattson fences on the other side as a nice surprise for teams who push through the wall. catalyst is entirely a camping character, she's basically like a reinterpretation of caustic.
@@telvanniis Camping only if it's late game necessary or the player is just bad honestly. Caustic has great aggro potential under the right circumstances, and wattson's ult can be used to better hold positions when taking engagements. Catalyst's kit looks like it could work great for aggressive plays as well, but only time will tell.
I disagree mostly with this statement. Any time I've ever used a bloodhound scan, I already know the general area someone is (you're already going to be able to hear them or know a battle is going on or something by the time you use the scan). Bloodhounds scan is most effective with finding the exact location and number of enemies. So blocking the scan is at least somewhat helpful. Especially in areas with verticality
@@YoBrand15 i guess i speak for a small percentage of players, i generally am able to predict movement of most players. will take a while to learn to do it again on the new map but wont be too long
@@Myst_iii well I mean I can too. I know the maps by heart. But still you can also predict the general movement of players in a general area too... so in that sense bloodhound scans would always be useless right? To me scans are useful for thr PRECISE location of every enemy. You're not always going to predict the exact location of every enemy, especially since not everyone rotates in an area in the same way.
She definitely has the possibility to be incredibly strong maybe even op when the new season drops. Also do we know if the wall blocks Seer's passive?

Nah, probably played on release by people then dropped, I don't see her pick rate being higher than 2%. Totally boring legend for pubs and situational in ranked
She lacks mobility so she wont be crazy strong. However she is anti-mobility so maybe I'm wrong

God the fact that they added a red hue to teammates walls makes me slightly mad, since we've asked for a way to distinguish friendly and enemy gas for over 10 seasons now

Bang mains bag for non scannable smoke for 15 seasons now. But hey at least a tiny minority on this planet has now a character they can identify with as if biology wasnt a thing :D
I wish that they would just add such an anti-scan ability to Bangalore. My idea is to just give her the electric smoke from Titanfall, which would stun enemies that attempt to push through it. Since it's electric smoke, it would damage Crypto drones and seer's micro-drones (effectively negating his tactical and ult if you're in the smoke) . However, Bloodhound scans should still go through since it's sonar based.
I imagine such an ability would be better balanced without the stun, due to how fast she can actually pull out and shoot the smoke. Maybe a speed debuff that increases over time instead?

Bangalore is ok, her passive and ult greatly outweighs the tactical, plus the smoke is literally the best combo for the passive, you get shot at? You get speed boost and something that confuses and blinds enemies.
Are we forgetting mirage exists with a single holo and a mid ultimate?
Bangalore is already balanced. No buff or nerf required. Also catalyst *ult* is the one that block scanning. It doesn’t makes sense to make bangalore’s *tactical* to be able to prevent the scan.
A subtle buff for Bloodhound in there as well. Amusing 😉
Will be interesting when you’re in a building and have to move out cause of zone and have to walk through the wall of fluid. Interested to see this in ALGS final circle battles

I am 1000000% maining catalyst maybe not as my primary main but 100% my secondary/tertiary I used to play a tiny bit of valorant I hated the game but viper was just so fun to me and there was nothing else like her in any other game and it was mainly because of her wall
*they're adding a legend with viper's wall from valorant into a game where I enjoy the core gameplay I am feeling like my guardian angel decided that I deserve to experience heaven without actually dying*
Her ultimate and tactical could help for third parties.slow them down before they get a chance to get any damage in

Well it certainly makes the character stand out compared to the other defensive legends.
Her whole kit reminds me of controller characters from valorant where she can divide up locations for fights, i think that on its own would make her incredibly powerful
Maggie could be a really good counter to her wall since you can highlight characters you damage

Catalyst sounds like a Wattson/Caustic class defender that's best used to hold an advantageous building. Makes a clear divide between 2 types of defense; barrier defense and trapping defense.
Ult seems like a blend of Bang smoke and Nox Gas, breaking the line of sight, slowing, and blinding.

Her tactical is basically a smaller wattson fence. People are saying she can lock a chokepoint when wattson can essentially lock entire buildings.
She might not be able to stop all scans. IF crypto's drone can go through the wall, simply throw it through for free scans.
Her wall ult seems strong but we don't know how long it'll last, or the cooldown. If it has a short lifespan then she'll just be an average legend.
Many uncertanties, but we'll only know how truly strong she is until she comes out.
May be a smaller version, but it is a projectile; which is to be used in similarity of an arc snare
She is like a well designed, time spent and less annoying caustic copy 😂.

Can you rotate the wall though, before placing it, and place it horizontally, or you can just place it in a straight line ahead of you??
Kinda cool that iron does actually have the ability to stop signals. They use ferrite tiles on anechoic chambers and things to keep out noisy signals. But considering that ferrofluid is manipulated using magnetic fields, Wattson should technically not be affected by it.
The best part of these legends is the reduction of the non-stop pushing by aggressive legends
I wonder if seers cancel ability still goes through the wall, I also think that lifeline catalyst combo will be pretty strong

She’s going to have a brutal release though since her abilities (besides her passive) won’t even work the first week or so she’s out. Since Catalyst is immune, so your wall/spikes that is supposed to defend won’t be useful when a Catalyst will just run right through, destroy the spikes for her team, kill you when you try to rez. So this will be an interesting release, I can’t see ppl sticking with her long unless they wait till everyone has “tried” her so the lobby goes back to normal.

@@jisooism sorry, I feel like I explained why. But basically because every squad will have a Catalyst at release so it won’t actually do it’s purpose of holding a team back while you heal/rez/etc since the other squads Catalyst will just stroll past to attack and/or destroying the spikes for her team to attack as well..So until her pick rate dies down so that she can actually hold teams back, she won’t feel very effective. Which might actually drop quicker than usual b/c of this. Hopefully ppl give her a second shot later if that’s the case.
See Caustic didn’t have this issue b/c he was part of release so he never had the whole “new legend hype/fill whole lobby” thing. Even if he did, Caustic may be immune but he can’t destroy the enemy Caustic’s gas immediately for his team. So it will buy some time no matter what, even if they destroy the canisters. Or else Caustic has to go in alone and be separated from his team, which is risky. These factors are what make the same mechanic very different. Caustic’s still does it’s job, Catalyst’s wont’t (at least the tact, her ult will still separate her from her squad since she can’t destroy it for them).

I think this ult has serious potential to be good since not all players will have an ability to get through/around it and in some situations like having to go through a choke point into zone and a catalyst is ahead of you or your in a building and she cuts it in half so you just have to go around

I can immediately see more use for her than the last character; she had nothing to offer other than her movement ability.
Can you only place the ult in a straight line from your POV? or can you change the orientation? Kind of like symmetras ult from OW

Recon has to do with gaining surveillance, not evading it. What you said isn’t incorrect, but it has nothing to do with the roles of the legends.

Reallyyy hope there’s a way to change the orientation of the wall. It would be really awkward to only be able to place it in front of you vertically.
Even if her ultimate can block scans, that's really only good against seers passive. Unless you've already placed her ult, you've most likely already been scanned.
I can see the Ult being good for mid fight to block information but think of all the times you been jumped by a bloodhound or Seer squad cause they scanned you before you even noticed them.

How does the ultimate work with mirage decoys? For example, if a decoy is sent through the wall, and the enemy shoots it from the other side, will they be pinged?
I also guess that it doesnt affect ash’s passive because that is a direct ping rather than a scan. I am also interested to see how it interacts with a seer ult in various placements, as well as the extremely niche valkyrie skydive passive.
Apart from that it seems very good

Or another thing, if the crypto drone can see them but you cant see them or the drone and they are behind her ult, does it still send you the scan? Very curious about how it all works
kinda wondering if crypto will be a counter to her i mean antiscan wall just fly the drone over it spike strip doesnt activate till your near but will the drone highlight it and the drone can like hack doors open will that hack open the doors she barricades and overall will the emp desroy all these ferro-fluid constructs

She isn't anything special just average people hyping it up like every season just to get destroyed when they start playing it then drop the legend and go back to someone else. Apex community is one big joke.
Sounds like the Ultimate is really similar to Rhapsody's from Apex Mobile, just tweaked a bit.

Question. How does the wall interact with Crypto's drone, since it scans everything IT sees in radius, and it therefor doesn't "go through" the wall itself.

Wattson + Loba + Catalyst meta lets go, Wattson can use her door trick to fry people breaching doors and Catalyst can rebuild doors or reinforce flank-side doors. Loba is mostly for black market to facilitate bunkering and using bracelet to take angles during cleanup/chasing. Catalyst provides anti-scan, Wattson provides anti-nade, ammo from Loba.
This team suffers from no info/movement/repositioning, but it should have toxic levels of sustain in a bunker if you get ahead of your ring opponents the old fashioned way. It could use Valk instead of Loba but losing black market is a huge loss. This squad does get completely dunked on by Crypto who was already becoming meta, but it could also play flexibly with a Crypto of its own too, if it wants to play more aggressively.
Realistically though she just plays like a more aggro version of caustic.

Well based on that Ig every1 should look forward to alot of ppl solo dropping with her since she has so much "I'm by myself defense capabilities " and yet apex wasn't planning to add solos mode yet make a legend that excels in just that

I feel like 4 kicks isn't enough. Basically you need to 2 stack a door for the regular 2 kicks.

There is a bug where crypto uses vantages voice lines and animations when picking up the sentinel. There is a video of this happening in the crypto mains sub reddit
