This battle pass change is not a bad change but I'll only explain if you are down to listen otherwise I'm not gonna have a meaningless conversation here but I have actual evidence it's better
We have to buy two battle passes.
-Imagine going to the supermarket to buy chocolate candy.
-You don't need candy to live, but you enjoy candy.
-The cashier brings out 8 boxes and tells you, that only one of the boxes is a chocolate candy, rest is candy you don't like.
-Than the cashier tells you, that if you pay X dollars, you get a random box.
-On top of it all, the cashier tells you, that if you buy all 8 boxes (7 of them useless to you), you will get the best chocolate candy out there, BUT ONLY THIS WEEK.

This is called conditioning. EA and Respawn are slowly introducing these systems, over time, anticipating and calculating the impact of backlash, then either making really minor adjustments to then say "we listened to the community" or to just full send it and tank the negative PR... bc we all know that it's still a net positive for their bottom line, at the end of the day.
Sadly you are absolutely right. That's how we got to AAA Games costing full price and have micro transactions. Something gamers would have never accepted 15 years ago.
What we've seen over the past 10 years in the industry is this: companies pushing the bar on monetization and if there's backlash, they back down a bit but not all the way. Then people feel like they were listened to and praise the companies choice. But they repeat this over and over. Right now we are seeing mobile game levels of manipulative design being forced into triple a games.
I think Respawn has to do whatever EA tells them to do because EA is their publishers
what I hate the most is that apex players dont complain enough about all of this and just like you said it conditions some to make it think like this is all fair
@@vamirinoon This is definitely not just an Apex player-base problem. Complacency is everywhere and the newer generation of gamers is questioning it even less.
The game has seemingly entered the infamous death spiral. Less people play it thus less people are spending money in the shops causing Respawn to cash grab even more which ends up driving more people away.

My favorite thing in games is taking a break for a year or two, then on revisiting the game there are now a bunch of new, bolted-on currency systems that have been reworked, modified or removed multiple times.
That's so real it's actually depressing lol. I've literally been playing online competitive shooters for 2/3 of my life at this point, that is the only genre of game I find myself crawling back to time and time again. And seeing every game I love being fucked into the ground by executives that belong in a guillotine instead of an office chair hurts my soul. TF2, Overwatch, Apex, Fortnite and whatever else. It's awful.
Dont forget , they dont update old prestige skins with sky dives trails, they introduce new recolors heirloom with finishers but dont update wraith and Revenant with heirloom recolor finisher

they won't give finishers to heirloom recolors, cause they had banner frames, the new one's don't have it. They just changed the stuff that comes with recolors. It's a bad change, since we have another finisher in prestige skins, but that's how it is

@@Doveman777 my bad, not frame - newer recolors don't have emote, like wraith have this training dummy that she hits with her kunai, and revenant have those skulls flying around him, while octane and crypto have new finisher (which is uselles if you have prestige skin who also have finisher)

Yeah E.A are the O.G blood suckers. They’ve been bleeding their customers dry everywhere they go. They give you a taste of what you want and lure you into a position to convince you spending the money is a great idea.
Before I feel like apex devs cared about the players base. They used to have devs stream and it was nice to keep us in the loop of what’s going on , but now it’s all gone :(

Glad someone finally made a video in detail on the progression of monetisation in apex becuase people seem to forget about things like the iron crown event and respawn know that which is why it always gets worse and they just stay quiet about it... hopefully now the community realise how scummy and predatory the monetisation in apex is and will finally take a stand
At the end of the day I don’t give a f about battle passes,skins, trails, badges, heirlooms, trackers, stickers, etc. I care about the gameplay, game health + ranked. Which is obviously what respawn cares the least about.
The game is on an engine from almost 20 years ago, it literally can't be updated properly which is why bugs have been there since day 1; it was a huge f up on their part to do this. The game is just a huge mess at this point.

The issue is that people know how to hack Source for 20 years now. However, it is never impossible to rework anything in any game engine. It is not sur that reworking their Source-based engine would take more time and money than migrating to a new engine that no one knows how to use at respawn / EA. The only engine they may switch to is Frostbite as it is Ea's property.

That's why overwatch had to remove lootboxes when they released ow2. Even though it's functionally the same game, being "new" means it can't skirt past things like lootboxes being illegal, or "discounted" bundles which were never at full price and don't let you individually buy items.
its just annoying because for like 17 seasons, from like season 3 all the way until like season 19 when the gacha stuff started, they had a mostly alright monetization system. they're just suddenly changing it into this weird cash grab gacha stuff and it sucks. it's so greedy all of the sudden for no reason.
Of course there is a reason, silly. Most noobs got enough coins now to buy the battlepass from the free 100 coins at the start of a battlepass, so naturally they changed it because...greed.
😂 I played from S3-S18ish also. For me, the writing had been on the wall for years. My frustration at that time was mostly with the MM, glad I wasn't around for the last year or so. So is my mental health 😂

@SixJayy I believe the term originates from Japanese gachapon machines, which are little capsule toy machines like you might see in a mall. It's mainly used for games like Genshin Impact where you essentially gamble for random characters, but I'm not sure about the Apex usage, as I haven't played in a few years

i cannot express enough how much i respect you as a content creator for these videos, it show how much you like the game and want it to live and succeed in a healthy way (even tho EA puts a lot of effort to end it.)
One thing I'll never forget is how the first anniversary event we got 24 reskins and heirloom shards while today half of the anniversary items are banners and holosprays completely not worth it

6:30 Dont forget that firsst heirloom recolour was half price in coins and crafting. I thought it would have set a precedence for recolour events in the future but no straight back to full price

I still find this so hard to believe as a Titanfall veteran that this is the same studio that used to sell prime Titans skins for $5, nose art packs were $4, camo packs were $3 and elite weapons skins that were $5 that give you 1 extra merit to you an your teammates and a chance to get double XP back in Titanfall 2. It’s disappointing to see the studio that I held such high standards for to turn out like this.

One thing I find funny no one brings up is the random addition of the Crypto Heirloom recolor, just dropped in the store. And what it strange is they gave him NO new animations with it. So it's probably why it didn't go in an event. It didn't have the same perceived value as the other recolors.
But like why..Why Crypto..Why insta dropped in the Mythic Shop..They say a finisher is hard to make and takes a lot of time but makes one for a random recolor that randomly dropped in the Mythic Shop..Like WTF..
@@Mr_Tensaiit’s all a cost saving measure. Making a fully fledged finisher is simply more expensive than changing the RGB values.
When it comes to game development something being ‘hard’ or ‘impossible to code’ is just doublespeak for it nit being cost-effective.
If I remember correctly, original WoW devs said that coding the ability to swap factions is impossible due to the way the code was structured. Yet when they started bleeding copious amounts of players that functionality suddenly became a possibility.

I didn't even start playing Apex until s16, I'm truly upset that I never got to experience peak Apex and just have to watch a game that I've grown to love plummet to the ground. I spend more time in the range than I do in actual games now
You're better off that way. Unlike us players who started preseason you haven't had to suffer constant disappointment.
The peaks were always surrounded by massive droughts. And sadly nothing can last forever.

In the past , they create recolor skins for we players can buy with red coins , but now they create recolor skins for drain our wallets, in the past create stats trackers, now they dont care, etc i give up of this , they dont update old prestige skins with sky, dives trails , i love arenas , duos and they take from the game , they see we players save the crafiting matirials for buy nice skins from events , they just create a way to create events and make sure we cant buy with crafting materials 😢 its sad , i have around 2500 hours , around 700 legenderys , im very disapoiting with the game ,
They are missing out on having a daily or 42hr shop with new Emotes,Skydive Emptes, banners,finishers. Apex also needs to evolve

Thank you Apex and Garet for the wonderful time I have spent on this game and community but the greed and mishandling of the game has grown too much for a casual like me. I'd rather enjoy watching Pros play ALGS than to scream at my screen because a shite with cheats 1 mag headshotted me across the map. This channel kept me up to date from leaks to changes to events.

What these companies realize now, is that its their game,and no one can say anything about it because who is to stand in their way? even then everything IRL is getting even more expensive, this is just Capitalism at its finest.

EA has never once cared about this game. They've been slowly monetizing more and more of this game. Eventually it'll probably be like overwatch in that you can't buy skins at all without spending real money.

5:00 That was the best part. I got heirloom shards and choose the Bangalore heirloom. And two months later I got heirloom shards back to back from a single pack.( I thought it was a bug so I immediately bought 2 heirlooms)
The deathbox in the ff event can only be used if you use the sword. So the heirloom that came after with all the tiers cant use that and the deathbox from last event thats pure greed. It should be two separate things in the menu. And wraith still dont have a dive trail

Bruh, Exotic Shards are pretty much useless if EA doesn’t allow players to use Exotic Shards to craft:
- Mythic Heirloom Recolors if you already have the original one
- Mythic Heirloom Banners for OG Heirlooms
- Mythic Heirloom Emotes
- Mythic Intro and Kill Quips

Apex has been destroyed for awhile, it just took awhile for everyone to see it.
Wish they did the same event for the reactive flatline skin by allowing us to grind over the course of the season, but instead of a reactive skin, it would be heirloom shards. This would bring back a lot of people. There are over 20 heirlooms if you count skins, they can give one heirloom shards away by having us grind in game.
Whenever I get stickers, they look cool at first, so I put them onto all of my healing items but I never notice them in-game. It's pretty disappointing
