  • In this video we get the hood, inner fenders and fenders loosely mounted on the 84 Chevy K10 Square Body!! Not perfect and not all the way aligned but wow what a difference in how the truck looks. Coming along!!

    I’ve also just received my premium fenders for my ‘85 K10 from LMC and I really appreciate the comments in the video about fitting and alignment and being a little more realistic about my rebuild and more specifically the fact that I’m not building a “Show truck”.
    Sincerely humbled,
    Kelevra 🤙🏽

    Great video series. A lot of tweaking to be done but fun to see the process.

      I got this one back on the road and sold it. I hated to do it but I was overcrowded and had to thin the herd a bit. JD

    Loving the progress and your detailed lessons along the way!!! I also love the yellow-jackets !

      Yeah those yellow jackets are bad this year, I got bit once earlier and they always seem to want to come around when I'm filming. I thought that was funny so I left it in the video. Good to hear from you brother. JD

    The front end is looking great! As far as the fenders meeting the door and cab at the top, they didnt line up too well from new. I have oem fenders on my 86 k20 and they are a mess too 🤣

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  2 года назад

      Yeah and I'm not trying to get them perfect to be honest but I know I can get them closer to where they are now. Sounds like you have a nice rig, love the K20's. JD

      Thanks for this! I’m dealing with the same thing with my premium LMC fenders and doors. Feels better knowing they were never perfect to begin with!😂

    I just ran across your feed. Good job from what I've seen. As far as your doors, and fenders lining up...Welcome to Squarebodies...LOL You can weld your edges to close your gaps. Don't get radical with the welding and warp your panels. Slow and easy, and smooth it out. As far as your windshield gap...I have never seen one perfect that hasn't had a ton of molding, and shaping done to it. Great job.... I just put a 85 K5 Blazer in my shop today

    You can hog out the hinge holes for more clearence for the door to be where it meets both upper and lower part the right way

    That is a very difficult job. A quarter inch here moves it a quarter somewhere else. 🤦‍♂️. As long as you are happy with it. I don't think it detracts from the coolness. 😎👍

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  2 года назад

      Yes it is very difficult and you have to accept (unless you want to do some bodywork on the panels) that it is just not going to line up perfectly on an old truck like this. I agree it is still very cool!!! Thanks for checking out the video. JD

    How is the quality of the lmc truck fenders vs oem... ive been looking for an 8ft bed side panel and haven't been able to find one..

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  Год назад

      I got the "premium" fenders and I feel like they are just like OEM fenders to be honest. They do sell non premium fenders and those are supposed to work but not be as good. I didn't have any issues with mine. I got the premium hood as well. If you can find good OEM fenders it will probably save you some $$ over the LMC premiums especially once you add shipping etc. Hope this helps. JD

    Aftermarket body panels are garbage and never fit right always source original parts from a wrecking yard

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  24 дня назад

      Can't disagree with you. The premium LMC parts are not bad and the closest I have found to factory. JD

    Yeah. Welcome to the world of cheap Chinese repop square body sheet-metal. After my experience with bed sides, wheel tubs, and tailgate, and front fenders and hood, on a friend's 79, I will never, ever, buy these remanufactured sheet-metal pieces for my truck. And it doesn't matter where you get them from, Auto Metal Direct, LMC, wherever, they are all manufactured by the same idiot Chinese who use worn out presses, bad blueprints and wrong bolt locations. I don't care what it takes to fix my original sheet-metal, I will never replace it with this crap.

      A lot of people agree with you!! I had decent luck with the LMC "premium" parts. JD
