I was in Scotty's position in 2014, its a very long story how I got there, the only option I had to get myself any sort of help was rob a bookies. Probation got me into a living accommodation where you had to be clean from drink and drugs or your out on your ear. and take a 3 month course where you share with others in the same boat how life went downhill and how to never go down that path again. Being at rock bottom is a dark and lonely place to me almost 5 years to build my life back. I'm 10 years clean from a very crazy cocaine addiction that I'm lucky to be writing this comment.
