When I first saw the Flip my immediate thought was how it looked like something I'd expect from Google. It looks great!
Funny how when the Samsung name is on the back that look is "awesome". When it was googles name on the back that design was "boring" and "utilitarian".
@@ShaneBales It's not the Samsung branding lol. I mean despite the resemblance, Google Pixel 2 does look really plain and dull. The panda colour does excites many including me but overall it was very dull design. At least Samsung here put more flare into the design like the sleek metal frame and more creative color pallette. The convenient second screen also added cool factor to an otherwise blank design piece of that black glass half. Hot take, the design actually makes so much more sense, more purposeful on Z Flip 3 than Pixel 2. My 2 cents ...

These are not reviews, these are only Hands On videos. There is a big difference, you just get to know the specs, looks, price here, but he couldn't do actual tests.

It's really amazing to see how much the fold improves in every generation. Specially compared to regular phones, that just have small updates every year. And the Fold is going to get even better in the future! Can't wait to see what they do next

Flip 3 is a looker. Also the colour schema is perfect. I've had an experience with the OG Flip and i loved the versatility it offered. Hoping for Prices to come down with the ensuing generations.
I'm still using my Blackberry KeyOne Black Edition - that fold is looking nice despite not having a keyboard.

After getting one of your videos about the Z Flip in my recommendeds a few months back, I've been quite looking forward to the next Flip as possibly my next phone. Sad to see that most decided to just cover the Fold.

If the stylus was dockable inside the phone, I would have upgraded from my Note 10+ in a heartbeat. I guess I'll wait for the next effort, and hopefully it's a rollout screen and not a foldable one (same concept, less bulky)

The Flip 3 looks amazing, reminds me a 24th century tricorder for some reason. If I had the money to buy it, I would because my old Galaxy S8 is slowly starting to show it's age.

I feel they missed a trick with the no pen in the device. Definitely feel they are becoming mainstream though. Still more of a fan of the duo folding for what I need (note user) but see the plus side of both flip and fold.

Hey Mr Fisher, i was wondering what's your stance on the whole Right to repair movement? It's fascinating that FINALLY someone is fighting for that.
Everybody should have the right to take their device to a competing shop to have it repaired. It keeps repair costs down and affordability up. The manufacturers don't want others repairing their devices because they are worried about proprietary trade secrets and security issues but should not preclude getting your phone fixed for a cheaper price. Also, aftermarket repair is usually, not always, after warranty.
This is what I have been waiting for! I've wanted a fold since the first one but couldn't justify the price to myself, I think I'll finally pick one up this year.
(Edit: Pre-ordered the fold 3!)
You're better off buying a way cheaper Z Fold 2 or waiting for the Z Fold 4 in 2022 for that Exynos AMD SoC unless you lack self control and desperately want S-pen functionality.

I was waiting for this reveal, been watching the fold series well..."unfold" since the first iteration but...think I'll have to wait until 4th gen to spring for it. Once this device has a built in s-pen and is dust proof I'll likely purchase, though, I've heard rumors of a Google Pixel foldable. Regardless, I'm excited for the folding phone market.
What you want is never happening. 🤷 There's simply no room for a stylus bay in folding phones and proper dust resistance is pretty much technologically impossible. The latter is almost entirely a non-issue though. Dust/debris getting into the hinge and causing problems hasn't been a major problem with foldables since the very original Fold. Just don't go throwing your phone in the sand.
I'm excited for the fold, with some waterproofing it's about to replace my tablet and phone for travel, if the price is right.
The fold 2 is also waterproof with the same protective layer on the internals. The only minor difference is if you leave the fold 2 in water for longer than 30 minutes you'll get a fogged up camera lens for a few hours after you take it out of the water.
This fold 3 does exactly the same. Nothing has changed, other than now you have an official rating.
There was a guy on youtube who not only put the phone in water overnight, he then put it in water in the freezer so the next morning it was encased in ice. He left it to melt away and the only casualty was the bottom speaker. As far as I'm aware there are no ratings that deal with being solidified in ice, so it's a non-issue.

@@theigpugamer yeh the lack of GMS is the only reason why I'm not switching to Huawei device, damn we never realized how dependant an Android device to GMS until the whole Huawei drama happened. I hope someday Huawei will find the light to gain right to use GMS once again before it's too late (cough HTC, LG etc)

Already preorder my Fold 3, sadly the 512GB version is only avaliable in black, I would love to have that white one.
So with the case and s-pen ($99 one), the price is close to the Fold2? A bit of jiggery-pokery by Samsung to make you feel like the price has fallen? At effectively the same price I would expect the normal yearly upgrades and we get some like 120Hz front display and the latest SD888 but miss out on cameras. I assume Samsung is not aiming this at the media creator market, more for those wanting an s-pen on a bigger display? Fair enough, Samsung should know better than me what their target audience is?
Not into foldable phones at all but sounds like Samsung have concentrated on the important stuff like water resistance, durability and hopefully reliability. Def an iterate upgrade that fixes stuff rather than doing anything revolutionary, much like the S21 line, and in Pandemic times probably an ideal opportunity to do this. Like the s20 line, it may mean a big drop in sales, but by saving the big changes to next year they should rebound in demand next round?
Samsung gives you 200$ store credit when you pre-order. I picked up the spen case and a more minimal one. Additional I grabbed the 3 way wireless charger. So, no. It is not the price of the z fold 2.
@@joemiester31 In the UK we get no where near the deals you get. We only get £600 for a Fold2 that originally cost £1800 a year ago! We get a £100 discount for pre-orders and £79 in gifts! Not enough to offset the £1700 price! Samsung give good deals in the US to hold onto their large Samsung fan base, which they do not have in Europe as we have far more choices. If they start losing flagship sales in the US after the 50% drop in sales since the S10 (-v- S21) then more than the management will be moved on at Samsung!

That's another 155.88. That's $1155.88 in total savings with the cost down to $644.12. I had to go for it man!
@@joemiester31 Yes, that is an excellent deal especially as you could not be sure how the Fold2 will hold up in the next year! It looks like they have done a lot of improvements to quality and durability and I am impressed Samsung decided to concentrate on this rather than upgrading the cameras.
As someone who grew up with the RAZR and the GameBoy Advance SP, the Flip 3 speaks to me... I really hope Samsung and other manufacturers continue with this form factor, and perfect them!!
When it comes to foldable's Mr Mobile is my go-to and his impressions are actually the only that count in my books, he lives the foldable's via thick n thin.🐐

The fact that the Note 21 was ditched in favour of a very iterative Fold 3 that doesn't really solve anything major kinda hurts.
🤦 This was such a shit take. The Fold 3 was MILLLLLES beyond the "shatters if you even look at it funny" Fold 2! Durability was MASSIVELY improved with MUCH stronger 2nd Gen UTG glass and proper IP rated waterproofing, 120Hz on the front display was a big fucking deal, having a proper edge-to-edge display without a big ol hole punch in the middle of your content (ESPECIALLY video) was awesome, and S Pen support was the cherry on top.
It wasn't quite Fold 1 to 2 big but Fold 3 was still a DRAMATIC overall upgrade. Saying it didn't solve anything major when arguably the biggest gen-on-gen foldable durability improvement we've ever got was its biggest upgrade makes you look like an absolute Grade A Dumbass lol. It was Fold 4 and 5 that were iterative. And Note's were completely fucking pointless in a post-Galaxy S Ultra world. 🤷
