Nice review thanks ! My 2 cents of opinion is that Pagani making really nice watches plus are abortable for the masses ! I have 5 Pagani watches and still going strong. My first was back in 2013 was an homage of Rolex datejust fluted watch with a Citizen 8210 movement ! Yes back in the days before they start installing Seiko NH movements they had 8210's that was the workhorse of Citizen. The watch still kicking after 11 years of use. Then after all these years got another 4 Pagani with the most recent the Speedy. I can't understand how some people complaining and put the watch under the microscope that has very good build quality Seiko "engines" and most important are cheap as chips ! And not only that they judge Pagani like they have an Omega in their hands and the same people praising the plastic toy that Swatch released that is 5-6 times more expensive than the Pagani ! Unbelievable ! As Mr.Spock would say ........ "It is not Logical"
Around 1978 I owned an Omega Speedmaster, I just ordered a Pagani Design V3. I love the look and feel of a Speedmaster and with a Seiko VK64 workhorse as it's engine, i should escape the maintenance nightmare that's the Omega Speedmaster.
Just bought a v3, arrived yesterday. Its pretty good, easy to size and the bracelet is ok and comfortable. The quality NATO strap included was a bonus.
This video was nicely done. It was to the point and had useful information. I just got this watch and it really is beautiful. I have about 13 watches and this is my favorite.
I have that exact same PD1701 V3 in three colors: the black and white one which you have reviewed, but also the blue/white one and the grey dial/golden hands. Btw you forgot to show the nicely engraved screw-in stainless steel case back. These are great homage watches for the price, they feel good on the wrist and have a classic sports-chic look. The only possible problem is - like all Chinese watches - the almost total absence of quality control. Make sure you buy from a reseller that offers a "free return" option, in case you receive a lemon.
I have a fairly recent version of the Pagani Speedy which I really enjoy. Had no idea of which version it was, but when you mentioned a black date wheel I realised I must have version three as well (?). Funny thing is that I have 6.5 inch wrist, which usually sucks: I tend to take out usually all links and hopefully be able to adjust the micro adjust clasp. But here it was a no-no. Bracelet was still a slight too big for me. So next step was to try on the nato strap which was included. I'm usually not a fan of nato straps (unless they're single straps) but this one is pretty nice. The brushing on the steel details and the fabric itself is way better quality than the usual cheap ones I've experienced before. To my surprise I wear this Speedy homage on that nato strap and it feels really good. Great reveiw, and keep up the good work. You've got yourself a new subscriber here, btw.
Thank you...I really appreciate that!! I was actually at the doctor's this afternoon and guess what he was wearing.... This watch!! Unbelievable!!! Hahahah
I wish someone could clear up for me why some of the V3 s have the chronograph numbers starting at 500 and are stepped , as you show in your video of the Ali Express sale page , whereas the watch you are reviewing , like mine , has the Chrono numbers starting at 400 and circling the bezel . Other PD watches with a similar bezel are said to be sapphire crystal not ceramic . Just wonder why or is the one you are reviewing a V3.5 ? Thanks for the review .
pretty sure they changed the bezel to avoid any legal issues with the watch being deemed a direct 1:1 copy. This is my personal theory and the most logical reason. I have the 400 bezel and I dont mind it as much, though I do wish I had the 500 one. The bezel on the panda/meteorite dial version is the 500 bezel and I am thinking of swapping it onto my black on black watch.
the "tachymeter" text is also different. On the omega and older Pagani it reads "tachymetré" in French and on the current Pagani it reads "tachymeter" in English. Not too big of a deal, but would prefer the original.
And dang, they've messed with the v3's original tachymeter bezel (Tachymeter now instead of Tachymetre, and 400 instead of 500...).. Why would they do that?
Probably a silly question but does anyone know how long these watches last? I am thinking of buying one of these or a citizen Orca with a 5 Yr guarantee. Any advice in helping me decide would be much appreciated. Thanks
I had this watch but sold it the bracelet is bad as as people say it is, very uncomfortable, chunky unless you want to use an uncle Seiko bracelet which cost 125 and doesn't fit properly though not noticable you can only wear it on rubber or leather
I have an Omega Seamaster, bought in 2001 for £1200. Look at the prices now. In 2020 I put it in for service and was offered a new Speedmaster for £4400. Look at the prices now. It's become ridiculous and frankly most of what you pay is advertising, franchise costs, celebrity endorsements and sponsorship. I've just bought this Pagani. It's a bargain. Imagine if they started to make them with a quality mechanical movement, hesalite.... it'd still be under £200.
THERE ARE MANY VERSIONS OF V3. Your BEZEL is not the same as in real Speedmaster. Some 1701 V3 have no dots at 12 o'clock. I purchased mine on Ebay with correct Bezel and dots (paid a little more 😊)
@@TheWatchChannelAU makes no sense. The back shows it to be an Omega Moon Watch clone and with so many others copying the two dot at 12 look I see nothing to gain by this.
@@jeffreymumm4483jeffrey if it helps, i have this watch and the Corgeut speedy, and the Corgeut is as close as you can get to an original Speedmaster, but unfortunately the Corgeut is not water resistent but the looks is spot on to the Omega.
A bloody stupid watch, this. I ordered mine in the "Alaska" version because i wanted a Mars SwatchxOmega and there is no Swatch shop within hundreds of km from me and I did not want to pay the scalpers a premium. Should not have done that. This watch made me realise, that you don'thave to pay thousands for a good watch. Honestly, what's not to like? Sapphire crystal, creamic bezel, 316L stainless steel case, reasonable bracelet, reliable mecaquartz movement. Hell, my wife would declare me stupid for spending Omega money (or Rolex money) on a watch. And, frankly, after buying that Pagani, I would never buy a watch that is 60 times the price of a Pagani for ... what? Slightly better case brushing? Slightly less rattly bracelet? No. I won´t splurge for minimal benefits, I rather buy me 15 Paganis and have the styles that I always wanted for 1% - one hundreth! - ofnthe cost.
@@TheWatchChannelAUIndeed. I have to admit, "name brand"watches ARE better. Better lume, better attention to detail, better QC, but I don't want to shell out thousands if I can get away with two hundred - or less. I ordered the Zulu Time homage and the Lunar Pilot homage last week. Never got along with that heft that the original Bulova is. But Pagani comes in nice 40mm.
@@karstentopp absolutely! The problem is the price factor you have to pay to get that better lume and finishing..if Pagani added another 15% to their prices I think people would be happy to pay that for those extras
@@TheWatchChannelAU Thought about that again and came to the conclusion that they will not do it. Currently, they have the low end market on their own. Anything lower than Pagani - even their own brands Pagrne and Benyar - and you go into bubble gum machine teritory. Moving up will put them in competition with San Martin and others. I feel they ejoy their territory. I don´t know, if there is brand loyality in this market. I buy Pagani - and I have bought 10+ Pagani watches - because it is perfectly acceptable quality for a perfectly accepable price. I would definitively not go below Pagani. TMI movements, sapphire crystal, 316L cases and a decent quality is the minimum I would seltle for. If they would get into San Martin territory pricewise, Pagani would have to offer a much, much better product than they have now. I see a moderate opportunity to trade up, offering better lume and QC - but stay decisively below San Martin. In my market (EU), that would be a hard ceiling of €200 for a Pagaini.
No, we don't. Quartz watches are grab'n'go and you do not have to set time and date every time you want to have it on your wrist. Life is easier with quartz. 😊
That would easily double the price, for one, and the only way they'd be able to keep it under 200 bucks would be by using a Seagull ST19, which is unreliable AF. If you want a Chinese Moonwatch homage with an automatic, buy the Phylida.
Nice review thanks !
