@@huongga729 Talking about being stupid. You are such a person. The term Southeast Asia wasn't invented before World War 2. But since you know little about the history of the geographical and political map, let me try to educate you on this matter. Southeast Asia was invented by the Anglo-American collaboration during World War 2 to fight against the Japanese(Axis power); thus, they divided the geographical line that particularly included all the Western colonized (British, French, Dutch and the U.S.) territories at the time between China and India, with the exception of Thailand (which at the time was a British diplomatic country). Therefore, Southeast Asia is a new term made by the Western power to control these regions in Asia via the Pacific Rim, and again it was created during World War 2. There was "NO" Southeast Asia before World War 2. And even today, ASEAN was also an association made up by the same Western power house to control the Asian Pacific region. I guess you've now learned a new lesson that your stupidity didn't bother to check. Bet you never learn the phrase "Divide and Conquer"? Don't be clueless!

@@lmvietnamchannel8715 In terms of culture, we belong to the East Asian sphere aka Sinosphere. On the other hand, Vietnam is a Southeast Asian country geographically
Maybe all people from vietnam you see different from East asia countries because they from the south vietnam they mix with cham or khmer people so they not real vietnamese 100%
So Jerry with the domination of China, it depends on if China shows it avarice of water and territories or simply called “expansionism” like past centuries or not. It’s already a superpower, so it has enough strength and resources to do so, like Europe colonialism and American imperialism but in another way. Once China does that, neighbors include 3 main others nations in this video don’t have any other choice but fight back to protect their territories and sovereignty.
For those who do not know, the Vietnamese were invaded by China and underwent the Northern period 1000 years. Therefore, our culture is greatly influenced by East Asian culture (such as Japan, Korea or Korea). I know someone will ask why we don't use the letter Nom. [Nôm (𡨸 喃), also known as Quoc phon (國 音) is a system of phonetic elements used to write Vietnamese (different from Quoc Ngu, Vietnamese Latin is the onomatopoeic script). Nôm was created on the basis of Chinese characters (mainly traditional), using the method of creating Chinese characters to create new characters for writing and expressions. achieve pure Vietnamese words that were not included in the original Chinese character set.] Because it took us almost 100 years of French colonization to use the Latin alphabet. Although geographically in Southeast Asia, culture is deeply influenced by East Asia. This is the opinion of a Vietnamese person and I know my country very well. (I use Google translation so it might be wrong, please understand.)
Culturally, Vietnam is exact East Asian. Thanks to Vietnam, Sinosphere has expanded from Red river delta to Mekong delta where previously belonged to Indianized peoples.

+Wolf Are there any Chinese characters in a Korean passport? No! North Korea abolished the usage and learning of Chinese characters (HanJa). Does this make them less East Asian? No! (Btw, Korea has their own writing system called "Hangul" as you may know. Isn't it also a script based on an alphabet? Does an alphabet based script make them less East Asian? No!) Let's take a look at Europe. All European countries use the Roman alphabet. Except Greece and Russia, they have their very own alphabet. Does this make them less European? No! Because culture is also about the lifestyle and practised customs! It has nothing to do with the country's script!
No, Vietnamese absolutely does not sound East Asian. This is what Vietnamese sounds like: vocaroo.com/i/s1MuinxxK41Y This is what Chinese sounds like: vocaroo.com/i/s1C4cwZIYQmf Hangul is an East Asian script, Quoc Ngu is not. You are not East Asian. Your cuisine is Southeast Asian with lots of tropical Southeast Asian spices and herbs (durians, lemongrass, coconuts, thai basil, cardamam, tamarind, lime, mint etc). Your climate is mostly Southeast Asian. Vietnamese also don't play Weiqi / Igo / Baduk as a hobby. +Wolf Just because there's a large percentage of Chinese people that doesn't mean that the whole city/country has the same culture since it's also inhabited by Indians/Malays and other nationalities. On the other hand, Vietnamese people in Vietnam who don't belong to the "Chinese" race just like Koreans and Japanese belong to their own group of race practise the East Asian culture (Confucianism, eating with chopsticks on a regular basis, believing in Mahayana Buddhism, the usage of Chinese charcters and their own respective modifications like characters only invented/made and used in Japan(Kokuji)/Korea(Gukja)/Vietnam(ChuNom) which even Chinese can't read, the temples have a similar architecture and all of these 4 countries had a long lasting kingdom in the past with its different dynasties and its emperos/empresses and a main palace for their royals for example in China: forbidden city/Japan: Kokyo/Korea: Gyeongbokgung/Vietnam: Imperial city Hue)
What? Vietnam also has these minorities like Cham, Tai, Muong, Tay, Khmer Krom who don't practice "East Asian culture" (which is basically Chinese). I think you need to be proud of being Vietnamese rather than attaching to some "East Asian" concept to feel good about yourself. Like you want to associate with Japanese and Koreans (and to a lesser extent, Chinese) to improve your confidence as a person, is really pathetic. It seems like many Vietnamese are only proud of being Vietnamese only if they forcefully squeeze their identity into a generic East Asian theme. Furthermore, you don't even use Chinese characters or Hantu / Chunom. That's over, so stop being like an annoying parasite to East Asia. And also Vietnamese can't even hold their chopsticks properly. many seem to hold them in a weird way (usually crossed and opens like a scissors). You are not East Asian, but a tropical person. You don't even have four distinct seasons to be considered East Asia, so please go join your Lao and Tai (not Thai, but Tai) friends (who are also pale skinned but are short midgets, have flat and wide noses and jutting mouths).
+Wolf sorry for rebort you because my stupid phone. so you say vn is not in sinosphere right. so do you know about our history.where we actually came from . and what our country did for more than 4000 years.
Tran Bao Yes you came from the Red River Delta which is NOT in East Asia. You are an Indochinese people, who genetically cluster with Northern Lao, Tai, Dai and Daic speaking peoples. I consider these popuations to be Southeast Asian. They usually have pale skin but their noses are flat and concave, they are SHORT, have no necks, and jutting / protruding mouths. They also speak hiccup languages like this: nguac ngoc luc doc doi dum ngaw nguac. And besides many Vietnamese are mixed with Cham populations especially those not from Hanoi. But Hanoi people are Southeast Asian because nobody considers the Tai-Kadai to be East Asian, same for Vietnamese. And Singapore isn't really East Asian either so Vietnam is a truly SEA country so stop denying it. Oh yeah and Vietnamese language is classed as Mon-Khmer.
@gian fer279 Thailand was never associated with East Asia, they were influenced by India and having the largest Chinese minority doesn’t count either since
Genetic: Vietnam, Korea, Japan are in the same group O2. China is O3. Culture: Vietnam, Korea, Japan, China share many similarities. Geography: Vietnam located in Southeast Asia. China, Korea, Japan located in East Asia.
+Wolf I stating fact here, genetic has nothing to do with Vietnamese wanted to be East Asian or not. Chinese belong to Y-Halogroup O3 close to Burmese Tibetan. Korean and Japanese are close to each other both have high frequency 47z ( O2b1a). Vietnamese is also O2 but different branch, M88 (O2a1a) . Do some research kid.
Shutter Speed I love how you think you know what you're talking about. Clades don't say much. It's better to look at atDNA. Genetically, North Vietnamese cluster with Daic populations, whereas South Vietnamese cluster with Cham populations. Both are SEA populations. Do some research, you stupid kid. Further, it's a common trope to see Vietnamese desperately trying to associate themselves with Japanese and Koreans (and to a lesser extent Chinese) to feel good about themselves, it's quite sad. Your O2 nonsense further propagates this "push Vietnam to Japan / Korea" trope. It's almost become a stereotype for Vietnamese. Vietnam: Geopolitically Southeast Asian. Genetically Southeast Asian i.e. Indochinese (cluster with Daic for North or Cham for South). Climate, Southeast Asian (tropical). Language / linguistic Southeast Asian (Mon-Khmer). Fruits Southeast Asian (coconuts, durians, other tropical fruit). Writing: Latin script with many exotic diacritics giving a Southeast Asian vibe. Wildlife: Southeast Asian. Seasons: one or two, Southeast Asian. Culture, East Asian. Sorry but overall you are a Southeast Asian country.
Typical of Vietnamese to insinuate they are related to Japanese and Koreans, they are NOT: genetiker.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/all-16-1.png?w=605 Vietnamese have nearly no North Asian genetic component in them. And they are not genetically closer to Japanese or Koreans but closer to (surprise, surprise), the DAICS.

So to finish this hell, I'll just say, Việt Nam is scientifically linked to South Asia, ONLY HALF OF THE COUNTRY, mainly in the south, while the north was more chinese since you know those 1000+ of domination by China sure would have brought something to it, so in the end, why Vietnamese are in the sino-sphere? They are in it because part of their culture is of Chinese descent while the other part is of South Asian descent, so I think that is fair that Vietnam should be included in the Sinosphere since they're language is more attached to China than the other countries in SEA, you see in SEA there is no really big relative of Vietnam language wise, but culturally wise Vietnam was influenced by both the Chinese and the South Asian, culturally wise there are only 2 countries in SEA that may link to Vietnam culturally and they are Cambodia and Laos, but just the culture, in the other stuff they are completely different. So in the end, Is Vietnam part of the Sinosphere aka Chinese culture? YES, even some names and surnames in Vietnamese are derived from China, we even had to write in Chinese in the most part of our lives, before the French came in, so we share many similarities to China, rather than to SEA, the only thing that they had in common was the south Asians people, but that's still not a valid reason onto why Vietnamese is not part of Sinosphere. We are part of it, people just neglect that, so even if the Vietnamese use the Latin, that doesn't mean anything OK, we just use Latin cuz it's simple than chinese alphabet, we are more linked to the Chinese than to the south east Asians, we are mostly derived from chinese mixed with South Asians just because the south part of Modern day Vietnam was under South Asians rule, we invaded it, mixed up the race there and boom we are now vietnamese, so you should consider us a between chinese culture (Sinosphere) and South Asians, but now the religion is mostly Buddhist and small religion, that's Buddhist because they were influenced by the South Asians, so it's a very wrong to say that we are not part of the Sinosphere, since we had thousands of years of domination, and also the northen part influenced the south much more hence why we are part of the Sinosphere. Also about that point where eyou said that we hate China, it's because of domination by them for those thousands of years, but we still retain big culture by them we should be thankful to them, event tho we hate them. So to clearify this whole mess, VIETNAM IS PART OF THE SINOSPHERE BECAUSE THEY HAD THOSUANDS OF YEARS OF DOMINATION BY THE CHINESE, THEY HAVE, MOSTLY, CHINESE DNA AND CULTURE IN THEM, THEY HARE CHINA JUST BECAUSE OF BEING DOMINATED BY ANRIEHR COUNTRY ITS NOT FUNNY PEOPLE WISE, BUT CULTURALLY WISE IT BRINGS A LOT OF CULTURES FROM THEIR FORMER OCCUPIERS, SO SAYING THAT VIETNAM IS NOT PART OF THE SINOSPHERE IS WRONG, SINCE THEY HAD THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF CHINESE CULTURE, EVEN WITHIN THEIR SURNAMES AND NAMES, like mine is Tran Hung Khánh, Trận is moslty like a chinese influenced surname, SO THINK ABOUT THOSE SWEET ASS THOUSANDS OF YEARS OF DOMINATION BY THE CHINESE THEY SURE HAVE BROUGHT LOTS OF CULTURE, SO READ AND THINK FIRST BEFORE STARTING SPITTING SHIT OUT YOUR BLOODY FUCKING MOUNTH.

If only China and Japan could get along again in real life.

Nôm was created on the basis of Chinese characters (mainly traditional), using the method of creating Chinese characters to create new characters for writing and expressions. achieve pure Vietnamese words that were not included in the original Chinese character set.]
Because it took us almost 100 years of French colonization to use the Latin alphabet.
Although geographically in Southeast Asia, culture is deeply influenced by East Asia.

Southeast Asia is just a term was created by the human. We are just on Earth.Mountains near mountains and rivers near rivers. Our appearance is changing due to food, climate and condition of life. lol. So please don't fighting with each other. One more thing is we human are not alway staying the same place because we have our legs to move to different places lol. From I was born, I know Vietnamese culture is similar to East Asia culture. And my parent say Vietnamese culture is A dong(亞東).It is the truth and Vietnamese culture is alway culture similar to East Asia than to Southern Asia culture of Cambodia,Laos,Thailand and Myanmar
But you just want to be East Asian because of prestige. Vietnamese cannot read Chinese characters, but look at you copying and pasting Chinese characters as if it's your writing. It is Chinese. Yes I obviously know Vietnamese used to use Chu Nom and Han Tu but even those are derived from China and modern day Vietnamese DO NOT LEARN Chinese characters and the Vietnamese government do not have Chinese script in any of their documents. Look at your Vietnamese passport, are there any Chinese characters? NO!

No!)
Let's take a look at Europe. All European countries use the Roman alphabet. Except Greece and Russia, they have their very own alphabet. Does this make them less European? No! Because culture is also about the lifestyle and practised customs! It has nothing to do with the country's script!

Hangul is an East Asian script, Quoc Ngu is not. You are not East Asian. Your language is a Mon-Khmer language. Your climate is tropical. +Wolf Just because there's a large percentage of Chinese people that
doesn't mean that the whole city/country has the same culture
since it's also inhabited by Indians/Malays and other
nationalities. On the other hand, Vietnamese people in Vietnam who
don't belong to the "Chinese" race just like
Koreans and Japanese belong to their own group of race practise the East
Asian culture (Confucianism, eating with chopsticks on a regular basis,
believing in Mahayana Buddhism, the usage of Chinese charcters and
their own respective modifications like characters only invented/made
and used in Japan(Kokuji)/Korea(Gukja)/Vietnam(ChuNom) which even
Chinese can't read, the temples have a similar architecture and
all of these 4 countries had a long lasting kingdom in the past with its
different dynasties and its emperos/empresses and a main palace for
their royals for example in China: forbidden
city/Japan: Kokyo/Korea: Gyeongbokgung/Vietnam: Imperial
city Hue)

+Shutter Speed I bet you're Vietnamese, because it's always Vietnamese who are desperate to be seen as East Asian.
Typical of Vietnamese to insinuate they are related to Japanese and Koreans, they are NOT:
genetiker.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/all-16-1.png?w=605
Vietnamese have nearly no North Asian genetic component in them.

This is very interesting. All of them are wearing Chinese national costumes in different periods of China. Starting from the Qin and Han dynasties. The Chinese began to rule Japan. Korea. North Vietnam. Become a Chinese territory and establish a Chinese regime. There are many Chinese buildings. For more than 2,000 years, Chinese language and Chinese characters have been used as the official text.
actually those costumes are not only Chinese. plus you han Chinese are mostly slave at the past

Everyone is talking about Vietnam, but what about Macau, Mongolia, and Thailand?
Thailand is not an East Asian culture
Love it from S. Korea💖
뒷계 Do Koreans think Vietnam belongs to East Asia?
@@niconico-kl3ht Actually they don't care much about the term "East Asia"
Let me present something for someone who still argue about *EA Cultural Sphere*
The only thing Distinguishes VN from other SEA is *not* language, climate, location,... that VN had used *Confucianism* in education. You can see just CN, SKR, JP & VN used Confucianism. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confucianism. So Vietnam's culture is seen as *encompassed* by cultural East Asia.
(That's why Mongolia , even though is located in East Asia, still recognized as Middle Asia culturally.)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Asian_cultural_sphere
+Tài Võ Excellent explanation bro :v :V
+Tài Võ Even Japanese do not use kanji for Vietnam or Vietnamese people. It means they do not consider you East Asian.
Xi Jinping in Japanese: 習近平
Park Geum-hye in Japanese: 朴槿恵
Abe Shinzo: 安倍 晋三
Nguyen Tan Dung: グエン・タン・ズン (note the katakana = FOREIGN / NOT EAST ASIAN!)
China in Japanese: 中国
Korea in Japanese: 韓国
Japan in Japanese: 日本
Vietnam in Japanese: ベトナム
Cambodia in Japanese: カンボジア
Philippines in Japanese: フィリピン (katakana = NOT EAST ASIAN!)
Wolf what the... i don't think it's important, doesn't prove anything, they use kanji as a *Habit* . Writing vnese in katakana is easier to read. Don't tell another, they will all laugh at you haha
But the vnese name u mentioned is a name borrowed from chinese
see this , every vnese name has a corresponding chinese name
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_Chinese_surnames
The "family name first" order follows the system of Chinese names and is common throughout the Chinese cultural sphere
Wolf its not proud to say that but kanji was formed in the 5th century via Korea while Namviet was still a province of the North empire as a cultural entity . Japanese was used to calling Nam Việt as Giao Châu 交州 or Jiaozhi (Giao Chỉ) 交趾郡
Việt Nam ベトナム is a new term since 1804 in the Nguyễn Dynasty
Your food is also Southeast Asian. Vietnamese prefer fish sauce over soy sauce. You eat lemongrass, tamarind, thai basil, lime and lots of these other exotic Southeast Asian / tropical herbs and spices that ARE NOT found in East Asia.
Korean Hanbok's sleeves are too long....I don't think it's hanbok....ㅠ Especially, it's weird that men's hanbok is a two-piece dress...and japan kimono or uniform...uniform is not traditional clothes!
I ' m from Vietnam
If not because of geography, Vietnam should belong to East Asia instead of Southeast Asia
Hope one day east Asia can be like EU, prosperous and harmonious, no more hatred.
Joshua Wong wtf is EU??? East Asia is already much much much better than fragmented EU!!!

Despite being part of the Southeast Asia, Vietnamese sure have this obsession of being a part of the East Asia.
A lot of contents on RUclips that are about East Asia cultural sphere or Sinosphere are made by Vietnamese...
Well I'm Vietnamese and I really don't care about this whole east asian thing whatever and I'm pretty sure most virts have the same feeling as mine. Maybe the ones who created the videos must have inferority complex or something.
it's not an obsession but rather an urge to inform/educate other ignorant people like you what Vietnam is really like
yes, it's an inferiority complex when other people group the Vietnamese together with Lao, Khmer, Indonesian and Phillipine people because well, have you ever seen a very dark skinned Vietnamese girl with curly hair and western looking face in a traditional áo dài in the media? I don't think so...
Indeed, many people are ignorant about Vietnam being part of the East Asia cultural sphere a.k.a. Sinosphere, which people usually think of only China, Japan and Korea.
Vietnam always got left out.
I'm a Sinophile, so I know Vietnam is part of the Sinosphere, what I said was based on my observation, many Vietnamese have this obsession or as you put it, "urge" of inform/educate people of they being of Sinosphere.
Anyway, I appreciate that Vietnamese making all these videos.
It means that they are appreciative of the East Asia cultures, that's a good thing.
And most likely Sinophilic, not like those Vietnamese with anti-China/Chinese sentiments.
Antithesis I wouldn't say that they are anti Chinese but more anti ccp
There are so many frikin arguments in this comment section. That's all I'm going to say.

Vietnam is Southeast Asia, I know they are culturally related to China but they are part of ASEAN.
yes, Vietnam is politically part of ASEAN due to the threat of China so VN needs like support from many other countries and the closest ones are the other Southeast Asian countries. In ancient times only China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam were in contact with one another very closely and shared lots of their traditions like the traditional clothes, Chinese script, customs and behaviour, confucianism, etc. which still lasts today
Northern Vietnam several thousand years ago was a East Asian country and eastern Asian culture! Nearly 300 in the past, Vietnam had expanded its territory to the south, so it had an S shape, but most of the territory was geographically located in Southeast Asia as it is now (before the new territory in the south of Vietnam belongs to Laos and Cambodia) .ok did you understand?
There is only a part of Vietnamese territory in Southeast Asia (part of the central region and the whole of southern Vietnam). Northern Vietnam in East Asia. Vietnamese culture belongs to East Asian culture. Ok!

Vietnam is an East Asian culture, Vietnamese culture is not like Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, indo ... in short, Vietnamese culture is not like ASEAN, but I think there is only Vietnamese culture in ASEAN. is east asia
Vietnam is a Southeast Asian country and a southeast Asian race. It has nothing to do with East Asia. Thank you

No, Vietnam is not East Asia.
Geography, culture and people belong to Southeast Asia. This is clear and there is no error.
What do you say about East Asian culture in Vietnam? I do not know.
Chinese characters are no longer used in Vietnam. Instead, it uses the Latin alphabet. Vietnam has also fully implemented "de-sinicization."
I don’t know where is the "East Asian culture" in Vietnam? Japan still retains Chinese characters, chopsticks, Chinese New Year, ancient Chinese architecture, kimono and beliefs.
People can still read ancient books. Vietnam can’t even read ancient books, but told me it retains the "East Asian culture", lol
Just being colonized does not mean that you are an East Asian country.
Could it be that when Indonesia was colonized by the Netherlands, it would become a Western European?
Could it be that when Indonesia was colonized by Japan, it would become East Asian?
This is totally illogical, lol

East Asia and Southeast Asia ? Both are the Far East area. ASEAN and East Asia are brothers, a bad thing happens to one of us, it will impact all of us! There were many wars and tragedies in our region, now we are back, stronger than ever! Our economy and human resources are the greatest, let's get our pride back as brothers and it's time to make 21st century as the Asian century, remember the motto the future is Asia
