A Radical Approach To Not Lose The Pine Logs - But Will It Work?

  • Approximately nine to eleven months before the production of this video, we cut down several pines, bucked them into logs, and stacked them on the yard. We have milled a good many of the logs yet we have many more to go. Time is really, really now of the essence. The worms are starting to dig in deep. Moisture is seeping into the fibers. If we can't get them milled soon it looks as if they could be lost. ‪@SawdustandSweatNC‬ a subscriber friend suggested a possible approach to saving the stash. After an analysis of my situation, im thinking, let's give it a shot. So here it is. It may not work, but at least it is worth trying. Let me know what you think after you have watched this episode.
It would be very simple if we had a crew of workers. We could knock these logs out in no time. But, I have a crew of one. And not only that, but I also have a day job. Time is of the essence. I've got to make the best use of it and this effort may be the ticket.

Thanks. Yeah, doing my best to lift by hand as little as possible on a manual Bandsaw. I appreciate it and appreciate your support.

for your request to build a shield over the head of your sawmill, i would buy a 12-24 carport garage tent from Harbour Freight that will give you the size that you want to build a small shop in the back before you build something you going to regret in building to small you need room to walk around in it you choose to make

@@jenniferwhite6089 Thanks. Certainly under consideration, my elderly neighbor friend suggested a similar approach. Thanks again

Thanks H.F. And thanks for subscribing. As far as the W.Mills, so far so good. So you have approximately 9 years with your mill. It's surely going to be interesting to see if there's 9 years in the W.M. I appreciate you subscribing and your kind words.

Like I said before the idea is to get the bark off the logs and make them into can't with the bark off them they will be fine until you are ready to use them I have been doing it for years.

So tell us what’s up with the tractor. No bark, no bugs here in southeast MO.

Guess we ought to find us a piece of ground in SE Missouri. The tractor, just thinking, planning ahead for old age when the back may not be able to mobilize as today. I'll be doing some stuff on the tractor, but right now, sort of in a race against the elements and the tiny destructive critters. Thanks for chatting and appreciate your support and hopefully long term friendship.

@@SawdustandSweatNC What I was meaning is that if you remove the bark my milling those logs into cants and storing the that way the bugs won’t bother them. We have bugs here too!

@bradhaggett Gotcha! My bad. As you may have seen from my last episode, that's what's happening on the yard right now. Thanks
