  • I've not been able to get the EVH wah pedal repaired, so I've replaced it with another newer version, which has the smaller rubber pad on top of the pedal.
So now the whole vintage EVH setup works again.

      Thanks man!
Getting another EVH wah has inspired me to get the Wolfgang out of the case and it's blown me away and taught me a lot about the EVH 5150 overdrive pedal.
It's so subtle in its enormous range of adjustment.
      EVH has blown me away.
      It's SO great 👍 👌

@@Gma7788 I always heard good things about evh gear. The only evh brand equipment I have is a Frankenstein pup in one guitar, and it's one of the best I've ever heard.

You want to know something, my honest opinion about that EVH pickup 😏
They somehow send an incomplete signal, and that signal requires an EVH pedal to complete it.
I don't know what the electrical trick is, but I've heard it's sound.
I plugged the guitar into a full set of EVH pedals and then into a marshall master volume amplifier, and it made electrical faults happen.
The unique EVH signal caused the guitar strings to go out of tune electrically.
The guitar was physically in tune but electrically out of tune.
I'll never use the guitars without the full set of pedals.
The whole thing doesn't work plugged into master volume amplifiers.
The electrical signal doesn't work well with master volume amplifiers.
I've learned the pickup requires 4 EVH pedals to send a signal that the amplifier can accept, but it must be either an EVH amplifier or a non-master volume marshall.
Nothing else can accept the EVH signal.
There's 3 Black & White flangers but only 1 of them will send a compatible signal for a marshall amplifier.
The other 2, send a unique signal that only an EVH amplifier can accept.
So if you've got just a pickup, then you'll have to finish buying the whole setup before you can activate that pickup sounds.
Eddie was in charge of this unique signal and it doesn't matter if you plug your pickup into other brands, the signal is unique and in complete out of the guitar.
The EVH pedals seem to complete or correct the incomplete pickup signal, and no other device can do that signal conversion.
The guitar by itself is useless to you.
The signal is in my opinion in complete and the pedals can only complete the signal.
But each pedal requires the other pedals in some way.
By themselves, they don't work and are useless to you.
The EVH amplifier only accepts this strange EVH signal and carries on if it gets a different signal.
Guys think this sound is a heavy metal type of sound but it's actually an electrical fault sound.
The guitar doesn't work by itself into the amplifier.
The pedals don't accept signals from other brands equipment.
Each EVH pedal requires its brothers in the set of pedals.
The amplifier requires the full set of pedals and guitar to be EVH brand.
Unfortunately no other brand of amplifier can convert the unique EVH signal so the speakers can play the sounds.
To activate the pickup signal you must buy the full setup.
So either you keep the pickup as an investment or you sell it.
Or you continue to finish buying 1 full EVH setup.
I had to go through this problem.
It took me years to finish buying 1 full setup from EVH so I could get the guitars to work properly 🙃
These EVH pickups aren't general purpose, in my experience.
Those last 3 videos I made was the first time I've heard 1 Eddie Van Halen type of sound coming from my equipment.
The sound I made yesterday, I considered to be very close to the CD 💿 sound.
It's taken many years to find 1 version.
You either finish buying a full setup or you stop buying any more or you buy as an investment in the brand.
