    Ultimately, Jake's estimate of refraction ( 1 / meter) is good, but approximate.
    I suggest complementing, this measurement, with a Snellen measurement.
    Real progress, must be confirmed by both methods.
    There is no need to "prove it", to any OD.
    You prove it to yourself, as I do it.

    An android app that really helped me is "Stay Focused." Not only does it track the time you spend on your phone, which includes individual apps and sites, it allows you to set limits on the time you spend on an app or site on a daily basis. I didn't realize how much time I really spent on my phone until the app showed me; it's a real shocker.
    Fun math: If you spend 5 minutes every day looking at a particular app, that's 1,825 minutes annually, or 30.4 hours/1.26 days. Thus, 10 minutes: 2.53 days, 20 minutes: 5.07 days, 40 minutes: 10.14 days.

    Thats why I recommend to set up the right eye environment: a big TV as a computer screen. Then all you need are the right glasses, text to read with the right font size, 1000 lux lights in front of you. If you surf on the net and read and search stuff all the time you automatically need to active focus (dont screw eyes or turn your head!). Best comfortable and efficient way in my opinion

    Hey Gemily, I'm Curious how and where do you buy your glasses cause you'd have to keep going down in prescription and how do you order the right prescription

    • @GemilyMez
      @GemilyMez  4 года назад +1

      I buy my glasses from Clearly (link in my video descriptions). The first correction you order for differentials (close up glasses) and normalised (distance glasses) can be a bit of a guess, based on your current optometrist-prescribed correction and your own measurements. I used the endmyopia calculator ( endmyopia.org/myopia-calculator-2/ ) to work out what my diopters were, and in my case I measured at exactly what my glasses correction was, so I felt quite reassured that I had measured correctly (although it is quite common to be overprescribed too). Then EndMyopia suggests how much you want to drop by (about 1.25 - 2 diopters for your differentials, and about 0.25 for your normalised, although if you have overcorrection or ciliary spasm, it could be as much as 0.75 even).

      @@paramjeetthakkar7088 No, it is not necessary. My reasons for paying for them were:
      1 - there were some questions I had that were kind of specific and I thought the paid videos may have some answers for me (they did!)
      2 - I just love Jake's videos and hated the thought of missing out on some
      3 - I had already made improvements in my vision so I knew this was legit, and I wanted to give some money to Jake for all his work to thank him anyway.
      You can definitely do this without the paid videos, especially if you join the free Le Meow forum, where there are loads of threads of people discussing their journey, what they have learned, and trouble shooting.

    My eyes are just over 2 ft away from my computer. Wouldn't it be better if I set up my work space so that the Monitors were 3 feet away? I'm probably going to try it and it'll change the differentials I use.

    • @GemilyMez
      @GemilyMez  4 года назад +1

      Yeah, that would be good. For people with higher myopia, the differentials are required for not only computer use, but also just reading books, writing, etc, so the differential correction needs to be correct to encompass all of that. If your myopia is low enough that you don't need glasses for phone use or for writing or reading a book, and you only really need them for computer use, then yeah, you can set up your computer further away and get slightly stronger diffs. Why not. :)

  • @Reannon5

    Love as always! And I don’t think you are bending any rules going and hour or two without glasses daily at your level of myopia, especially outside on a sunny day. In fact I feel like that is recommended somewhere... I will be returning to warm compress again soon. Been doing cool compress for the summer. It does really help 😊

    • @GemilyMez

      Thanks, Reannon. ❤️ A cool compress? That sounds very soothing. Is that for dry eyes too or something else?

    • @Reannon5
      @Reannon5 4 года назад

      @@GemilyMez the cool compress is so refreshing. I love the warm compress most of the time but in the dead of summer not so appealing... so I switched to the cool when the heat hit. I only have occupational dry eye. I use the humidifier in the winter to counteract the drying of the heat being on (helps with dry skin, allergies and more) and I use to castor oil as needed if I'm in a particularly bad patch for the dry eye. So the compresses are more of a refresh and relax for them eyes 😊

    • @GemilyMez

      Yeah, but it is not relaxing extra ocular muscles or the eye lids or relaxing so your eyes go out if focus. It is more like relaxing inside the eye - the ciliary muscle.

    It has stuck not improving. It improves then comes to normal.....plz help.

    • @GemilyMez
      @GemilyMez  4 года назад

      It's okay! It is quite normal when you do Active Focus that you can do it for moments, and not hold it for a longer time. Sounds like what you are doing is right! Also, double vision can be really annoying, but double vision is better than blur - the cycle of improvement goes Blur --> Double Vision --> Clear. So if you are getting some double vision, remember that is you brain sorting out the blur. It is great! Don't feel discouraged! Sounds like you are doing it right. Just be patient with it.

    Great idea to go without glasses!
    Congrats on left eye starting to improve again! Thanks for the mention. 🤗
    3 hr walk everyday must be something! I really wanna do that for atleast 3 months.
    Though, not for eyes...
    I feel like these walks are not really the best way to improve eyes. For example, you can see 50 cm, print pushing at 75 cm might be the best way to improve the eyes. Though I am sure that those 3 hr outdoor walks have many other benefits for health & mind. I am just not convinced that they are the best way to improve at moderate myopia. At less than 1 diopter myopia, that kind of walks may be the right thing. But, above 1 diopter, print pushing may be a better way to improve vision.
    Though, I will repeat the third time (I hope I am counting correctly 😅): I am not against those 3 hr walks. I am pretty sure they are very healthy and beneficial in other ways.

      You're probably right. I was doing a lot of print pushing at the beginning - I only started these walks when lockdown meant I worked from home and didn't have to keep office hours. Clearing up text when print pushing also feels very exciting, and you sure can feel it in your eyes. I do feel like the sunlight is helping me a lot though now, so that is nice.
