I am a Japanese subscriber who used to live in Maginhawa when I was studying in UPD as an exchange student. Of course I love this place and Rodics was also famous because it had another branch inside the UPD. I remembered those days there thanks to your video! Thank you and I'm happy you enjoyed this area!😍😍😍
So happy that you visited Maginhawa! If you plan to return in Maginhawa and would like to explore more areas, I'd recommend the following places: 1. Ate Fe's - Try their Sizzling Sisig 2. Friuli Trattoria - Try their 4 cheese Pizza 3. Buen Comer - (This place is already inside the village but their food is so good). Try their Kare-Kare Burrito. 4. Shao Kao
Jessica's content ideas ay napakahusay, very informative, entertaining and knowledgeable. The topic is very detailed and well explained. Kudos Jessica! You are the real/best influencer🇰🇷🇵🇭.🥰 💓❤️💓
you can also try getting the same type of food recommended by different people with the same price point so that you can compare which one is the best. you can probably do blind taste testing for those food items, too.
Thank you jessica for sharing this kind of series that shows different Filipino foods in different places in manila.. Sana malibot mo ang buong Pilipinas para matikman mo lahat ang mga ulams ng lahat ng lugar sa pinas. hehhe. ingat ka always🥰💙💓💙🥰
Hi Jessica, the Caldereta we cook always has coconut milk. It’s not a bicolano Caldereta. That’s just how we cook it….at least in the Luzon area (Bulacan, Pampanga). To us it’s not Caldereta unless it has coconut milk 👍🏻 Love your channel. Your heart is definitely “Pinoy” ❤ Keep it up.
You really can tell that the foods in Rodic's are good since they've been standing still since it's first day. Everything in this video is just stunning and wonderfully made. Kudos to the team 🫰
My friend said his tapsilog once had a cockroach inside the rice. From personal experience, i waited 45 minutes for my order over there until they told me it's not available. I'm sure it used to be good. I think nowadays, they rely too much on their popularity so they don't work as hard to maintain quality and service.
A few months ago, an aunt of mine said the exact same thing- once you've had French pastries in a Parisian cafe or patisserie, nothing will ever come close to that experience of pure heaven. Nothing will ever come close to that high. These are some excellent recommendations for the Teachers Village area. Will definitely check them out when I find myself on that side of town. And Rodic's kaldereta sounds like a winner. I'll trust your sensibility and sophisticated palate on that. Is it your ultimate favorite Super Saiyan dish?
Hi Jessica, all viewers (will probably subscribe) and subscribers will love this Series. And when you asked why the Adobo was so white, because in our place (Bicol) its called Adobo sa Gata (Adobo using Coco Milk), of course with Chilis. Actually, the original Adobo is really white because there's no Soy Sauce in it, only Garlic, Salt and Vinegar. BTW, continue talking with the Locals in Tagalog it's the only way you can hone your Tagalog and be fluent in no time. Good luck and be safe always. Next Vlog please!!!!

Excellent series thus far, Jessica! Always wanted a series like this and it is beyond my expectations for real! So many hidden gems that are locally owned. Will definitely use this and future episodes as reference if and when I come back. Hope it becomes a regular series. Lol I definitely cackled when the local dude and his companions suggested you get an iced americano because you’re Korean based on what they learned from Kdramas lol. So many neighborhoods and so many go-to spots! Thanks for this JL and crew.
Kudos to Jessica and her crew for picking small, independent businesses and promoting the local economy. Mom-and-pop shops, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and street food vendors need all the help they can get to bounce back from the pandemic and get through hard times. So thank you for featuring them in your series. Perhaps one day you get to check out other provinces and feature their local sites, traditions, and food. Looking forward to more creative ideas and content from your team. Well done, guys.
Love how it is so informative and same time funny not just for the foreigners but also to the filipinos!! Excited for the next episode of Paborito! Congrats Jessica ❤❤❤❤
Placing my food recos here as a Maginhawa resident! 1) For Pinoy food- Gubat. Superb kamayan food, hands down the best food in the area. Not technically in Maginhawa St. (it’s in Mayaman St.) (but counting it as one)! 2) For dessert - Papa Diddi’s Ice Cream! Try their homemade Tres Leches and Cheese Closed ice cream. 3) For healthy food - Shao Kao. Well seasoned barbecue, tamang price point, and you eat what you actually want to eat. :) Favorite ang grilled kalabasa and mushrooms. 4) For coffee, Chapter. Solid Spanish latte, good vibe, sobrang sarap ng kape. Must try din yung kanilang apple pie. :) 5) And of course, Maginhawa is Rodic’s. If there’s one iconic food of Maginhawa, Rodic’s talaga. :)
I love how jess is really at home talking to locals, like you can tell excellent Pinoy enthusiam vibe when she ask questions. Yun bang jolly na street smart. Good job jess, God bless.
Adobo with coconut milk is always the best version of adobo you will eat. It is what makes adobo light colored. A must include place for your series is Malabon. I think you'd need to categorize your visit there per visit per episode. An episode for desserts, episode for Pancit, episode for hole in the walls and an episode for Crispy Pata.
i highly recommend this show or vlogs to my kids and friends it was very wholesome and entertaining, Jessica is really versatile and smart she knows how to fill every Filipino's heart, i love her !

Special mention: Razons, Nathaniel's Bakeshop, and Susie's Cuisine
I have been watching in this channel for years now and I gotta be honest I feel like a proud mom hearing her kid sang ABC straight without missing a letter and tune when you spoke straight tagalog 😅💚
My Paboritos in Maginhawa would be: Ate Fe's for their Lechon Rice (it's right beside the 7eleven in the first shot of the video. One of the OGs even before Maginhawa became a food hub.) Buen Comer's Kare-Kare Burrito for Fil-Mex goodness (not on the main street tho, but same area) Rodic's, of course. Can't go wrong with their Tapsilog (They also have a branch inside UP near the theater) Friuli Trattoria for their pizza and pasta (Also one of the OGs and very close to our hangout back in college) All of these are really good, and very budget-friendly. 😀😀
The tapsilog is good but I like the more tradionally-marinated ones. My go-to order in Rodic's is the baconsilog. They used to have thicker, home-made cuts back then. I still like the one they serve now but the taste is very familiar and common. Prices used to be affordable. Should have tried Crazy Wings before.
My Bicolano side is intensifying. I think they call it "adobo sa gata" now, but as one commenter said, adobo wasn't originally with soy sauce. It's originally white. In Bicol, (where the put gata on everything, instead of soy sauce, we put gata. :) Also, that laing looks legit. I have introduced legit laing to someone who doesn't eat laing because of previous bad experience (itchy). I told her, before you order laing, ask first if a Bicolano did it because most non-bicolano cooks do not know how to handle gabi leaves. It should be well dryed so it won't itch.
My sister is from UP Diliman (I’m from UP Baguio hence the picture) But a little history/fun fact about Rodic’s is that one of their first stores opened inside of UP. It was located in the shopping center (which caught on fire a few years ago). Thanks to my sister, I’m lucky I was able to eat there and their tapsi was totally different from the modern Rodic’s restaurants now. The vibes is also very karinderia. It’s a shame that the place was burned down. Nonetheless, the modern day Rodic’s still is above most tapsi places.
I LOVE this new series. Jessica is just 😘. She's really way above your typical vloggers. I really think she is due for some of those year-end vlog/RUclips awards. I'm so looking forward to the other neighborhoods she'll be visiting.
From the trailer itself, I knew this series will be good. Really love Jessica's authentic reaction. It made me smile everytime she looks mindblown how good the food was. It was a great first episode. Cheers!
Food Places Recommendation here in Bicol: (Yung Pinaka-best for me) 1. Lola Feling's Restaurant Legazpi 2. Rose Special Kinalas at Sisig (Sto. Domingo, Albay) 3. Hi Jessica! Your vlog are always worth watching! I love how you come up with your brilliant ideas of your content! The last time I keep on tracking the trabaho series now I can't wait for the next episode of your Paborito series! And I love how you look so simple and very polite to my kababayan! For me you are the best vloggers your topics are always informative and fun! Keep it up and congratulations! 🥰
Its really hard to find a food place that not so will many knowthat is very good. Mostly if the resto or food store is good they will be packed because the food is really good and they dont need to advertise it. From word of mouth people will visit their places. Like Rodic's its been a popular tapsi ever since in UP area. I can attest to that its been one of the best tapsi places in PH. There are other good tapsi places, but Rodic's is really different. Since you really love eating. These series of yours will open up your palette to different resto that will certainly have your taste buds taste some of the best dishes in PH. Wait for more episodes.
Jessica Lee I’ve learned so much about the vibrant unique culture of the Philippines through your awesome content. Looking forward to a new year of awesomeness!🎉

thank you jessica for this series! loved your unscripted reactions to everything, super entertaining to watch! also, you’re promoting small businesses as well ❤❤❤
Your content/series ideas are amazing! Always a mixture of typical yet different in your own way. It always felt like 25mins isn't wasted when I watch you.
that kind of adobo in Manila we call Adobo sa gata that's why it's white. actually, there are many types of cooking Adobo some are sweet and salty like the adobo you used to eat the one with bay leaves. some are with onions and peppery. but then, the One we really cook is the one that is more on garlic and no soy sauce. lots of garlic, vinegar, salt, and pepper only. Caldereta makes Creamy because of the cheese and also it is supposed to be spicy. the others don't like spicy that's why sometimes they don't put chilies in it.
Adobo sa puti don't have soy sauce, they use only vinegar and whole garlic and sugar to cut off the acidity of the vinegar,. We also have adobong tagalog,in this dish we only use anato seed extract,it's very popular in many occasions like barrio fiesta,.btw i watched lots of food vlog but MENUDO are always missing to the menu,.
Hi Jessica, I enjoyed your Paborito series! More food reviews in the future please, just love how you articulate & express with how to food taste like. You're tagalog is getting better. Good job as always.
Woah! Maginhawa and Katipunan are literally the food haven for me as a UP student. I just hope Area 2 at UP is still as nice as before the pandemic happened.
I'm a big fan from Glendale California. Love your Paborito series. Go off the beaten path to find a gem. This is the best way to get to know a community.
Another nnman ng magiging favorite food ni Ate Jessica enjoy lang sa pag explore ng mga Filipino food surely na marami talagang masasarap na pagkaing pilipino ❤️❤️❤️
I love the way you inspect the food, it looks like you’re a chemist😂 it’s breakfast time here in Canada and I don’t usually eat breakfast but now you made me hungry😀
this is such an excellent idea for a series! I'll definitely try to stop by at the places that you've recommended the next time when I'm in Manila again :3
Do you know at the end of Retiro Street QC and Manila which is going to Blumentritt where the street is of Lechon restaurant side by side and you can see the lechons on bamboos display at the front of each restaurants line-up. This is Laloma lechonan is already established before the Cebu Lechon. They also lechon Baka. And you can see also part of the restaurant there is one area where you can see the pigs roasting on bamboo over the hot red charcoals. Maybe you can include in your episodes. Each restaurant has it own specialites.
THAT ADOBONG BIKOL WAS COLORED WHITE BCOZ IT WAS SAUTED WITH COCONUT MILK WHICH HERE IN BATANGAS WE CALLED IT ADOBO SA GATA IT IS MORE DELICIOUS WHEN YOU COOKED IT WITH SQUID OR ADOBONG PUSIT SA GATA.TNX NICE VLOG
A very good content series, not just helping her vlogs but also promoting the struggling businesses she visits. Keep it up! Korean by blood, but Pinoy by heart.
This content is so much fun to watch. Great interpersonal skills, Jessica. I hope you can also visit and vlog the best buffet in the country - SPIRAL BUFFET in SOFITEL PHILIPPINES PLAZA MANILA :)

For me you are the best vloggers your topics are always informative and fun! Keep it up and congratulations! 🥰
You're doing great with your tagalog words now! So proud of you 🥰 mabuhay ka Jessica!!
I love this new series! You're very articulate in giving your impressions and it makes your viewers crave to taste those restaurants! 🤭😅

damn much better series than what big media companies put out.
Your content/series ideas are amazing! Always a mixture of typical yet different in your own way. It always felt like 25mins isn't wasted when I watch you.
I luv this segment. You are actually informing me where to go and dine when I go to Manila ❤. Keep doing what you luv!
that kind of adobo in Manila we call Adobo sa gata that's why it's white. actually, there are many types of cooking Adobo some are sweet and salty like the adobo you used to eat the one with bay leaves. some are with onions and peppery. but then, the One we really cook is the one that is more on garlic and no soy sauce. lots of garlic, vinegar, salt, and pepper only. Caldereta makes Creamy because of the cheese and also it is supposed to be spicy. the others don't like spicy that's why sometimes they don't put chilies in it.
Wow, this video will make me go back to Maginhawa for another foodtrip fo' sure 🥰 Thank you Jessica 🌹
Her love for the Philippines is very authentic , just like her blogs. I love your contents 💖 kudos Jessica.
Her family are expats long living in the Philippines, though they live in Visayas I believe thats is why the obvious struggle speaking in tagalog
I love the reaction of ate Jessica it's so adorable
Naenjoy ko ng sobra ang vlog na to. Gumagaling ka na din magtagalog.
after watching Jessica eat at Rodic's & the way she described how good tapsi & caldereta is makes me crave for it. Hahaha 🤣😋
Your series is getting more and more enjoyable! More food to taste! You should also try the Marikina area soon.

Authentic reactions for authentic food. Good work to begin the series. :)
this is such an excellent idea for a series!
That surprised expression whenever she discovers a food she likes is quite endearing
I really admire you jessica b'coz of loving eating filipino foods ❤ thank you and keep safe 🙏

i love how you describe ate girl that suggested crazy wings as "busy ate" HAHAHAHHAHA
I love Jessica facial expression when she observes the food she ate and the positive feedback about the food ❤
