Did the recipe yesterday, it's really good! I'd advice anyone wanting to do it to prepare all the ingredients beforehand :) Also, if you don't have a razor-sharp knife, don't put the lemon slices in the jelly, but rather on top, so that you can remove them, and not ruin the cake trying to cut one :)
Lovely recipe! We just made it, it tastes amazing. For the cream cheese, we used a mix of mascarpone and ricotta and the taste was great. I personally think you can use a little less sugar in the cheese mix, we didn't use the amount in the recipe and it still ended up being very sweet. Overall, it's a great recipe that comes together fairily quickly. We heavily recommend it!
Wow - what a cake! LOVED at the end how you 'disected' the cake so we could see the texture. THAT WAS GREAT! Something else - noticed you lightly tamped the crust. I use a flat bottom glass to really compact it and find that really doesn't fall apart but shatters. I LOVE how you did that because the cake keeps it's form together - GREAT ! Going to try this......

Was the lemon curd cooled down before adding to the cake pan, or was it straight from the stove? I can't tell and there are no English captions yet. This looks so yummy
You are supposed to let it cool down at room temperature before pouring into the cake mould. You can also refrigerate the lemon curd for awhile but not too over as the lemon curd will turn into solid when chilled to long.

I wondered this too. I thought it was odd that they just added a raw yolk, but nobody else is really mentioning it so I'm assuming it's fine. I mean I eat raw cookie dough/cake batter all of the time so I guess it's not really like I care LOL. I was just curious cause I've never see it done with a cheesecake before.
You should add the yolk after it's cooled down so it doesnt cook. Cooking it would give the cream a weird consistency. Being just one egg yolk, it's not that big of a problem.
I was too impatient to let the cure cool to room temp so I tempered the egg yolk by adding a bit of the curd to the yolk and mixing it and going back and forth with the two and it did not congeal the yolk at all, it worked perfectly.
😭I wished this came out 6 hours earlier. Yesterday I made some homemade cream cheese. I decided to make a Japanese cheesecake today... But it didn't turn out well and I added mour self raising flour to make it less watery... Anyway, I'm gonna bake this tmr for mother's day woohoo

So i made this lemon cake like 5 days ago and it turned out AMAZING it was sooo good i ate like half of it while my parents & brother got to split the other half 😁😅 the middle lemon curd layer was soo good i made like three batches and stored it in the fridge. I would definitely say tho that the top layer wasn't necessary and it was really sour maybe bc i didn't sift powdered sugar on top but over all AMAZING

NikG I left my batter at room temp but we have air conditioning so it didn’t melt. I think if it just had to sit in the fridge for twenty minutes while the layers set it should still be able to spread. Honestly you could probably skip the freezer if you were very careful and gentle with how you applied each layer. As for the gelatin, I ordered some gelatin sheets from amazon specifically for making Cooking Tree recipes. 5grams of powdered gelatin is about 1.5 teaspoons. I’m not sure how you could get the powdered gelatin to mix properly in the cheesecake batter? Maybe melt it into the milk before adding.
I see there is no milk in the batter. I used kefir (fermented milk) instead of yogurt so I imagine a tablespoon of warm milk to bloom your gelatin would not mess up the recipe.
One thing we did differently than in the video is we used a spring pan with latches and we though it worked great! Other than that we followed the recipe and this is the most fun creative and most of all delicious cake we have ever made, tasted, or seen! :)
