Stephen, It is always a pleasant surprise to have David on your channel.😉 In this debate between Tacomas I would choose the Land Cruiser or 4Runner and pair it with a utility trailer. Today's 4Runner has a better back seat than the new Tacoma and the upcoming Land Cruiser has a huge 2nd row. 🥳🥳What is the point of a 4 door truck with such a cramped rear seat? 🤔

I just can't get over how much these trucks are going for these days. When I was younger in the early 90's you could buy a base Toyota Truck for $7400. $50k-$60k for a mid size 4x4 is freaking ridiculous yet they sell like hot ckaes.....And banks wonder why there are so many Repo's in the USA 🙄

@@ValkenDnB It depends on the trail. Black Bear Pass, Elwood Pass, Hell's Revenge, Poughkeepsie Gulch -- yes. Imogene, Fins & Things, Ophir, Pass -- no. Length is not a factor. Great to see the TRD Pro with a grey interior instead of the obnoxious red, but I'm still thinking just a regular TRD Off Road is the way to go. I agree with David, those seats on the Pro are way overkill and of no use for 90% of the people that buy these trucks. They should make them an option and not standard. Even my supercharged & tuned 4.0 V6 Tacoma feels like it has more lag. Aside from sentiments about hybrid engines, I don't think people are gonna miss those slow V6's. Ford, Chrysler and GM have been pushing out reliable applications for a while now so trust in Toyota to shine above them. I agree on just about everything except for the Fox shocks. They are notorious for premature failures, in our local 4x4 group we say " you are paying for a name brand sticker and shock made in china." My 19 trd pro 4runner had them fail three times in the front and once in the back all before 30k miles. I do love they put OME shocks on the trail hunter. I was really hoping they would put those into the pro. Most people toss the Fox shocks anyway and get Kings or something similar. Still I wish toyota would make all shocks/struts on every trim themselves. Toyota just has better quality.

If 10 years ago someone were to walk up to me and say that all the trucks will be strapping 4 bangers and electric motors into the best-selling midsize segment, I would tell you to go eat your hat. I get it, emissions, etc., but having a parts bin in your back pocket while durability testing versus running a personal vehicle with this much weight on a 4 cylinder is a dramatic difference in perspective and experience.
That said, what they've done with the Tacos looks fantastic aesthetically and the upgeared variants put the Tundra to shame. Make a Tundra-sized Trailhunter with a respectable engine, I'd be a buyer.

I can’t believe that this channel only has 143k subscribers. I’ve been following you since you were with TFL. Congrats on this channel, excellent job!
I really like the look of these trucks. However,I sat in one last time shopping for a new truck in 2018 but the seating position with your legs out front rather than below turned me off. Too much like a car feeling.
Having to duck your head to enter the new models cab is a deal breaker for me on this one. At 6’, I’ll just keep my 2018 f150 limited for now. I would like to move to a mid size but seating position and back seat room aren’t there yet.
    Keep up the good work!

When reviewing the rear seat legroom, it is great that you indicate how tall you are; however, please also indicate how far forward or back the front seat is. For the TRD Pro, it very much looked like the front seat was forward and not all the way back. Secondly, nobody every mentions the width between the wheel wells on the bed. Can you get a 4x8 sheet of plywood between the wheel wells?

Flexibility of the frame is a benefit for off roading.

Great review guys. 👍 I'm not a fan of the new "Terra" color either. I much prefer the Solar Octane or the Blue Crush. One thing you might want to get straight for your viewers though is regarding the leaf springs. I keep hearing people saying that they are still on the "lower grades," making people think SR class and such. And that is simply not true. The fact is that the leaf springs are on ALL the Extra Cab models regardless of grade and the coil springs are on ALL the Double Cabs regardless of grade, including the SR. Just thought I'd mention it because I keep hearing that mistake made on nearly all the reviews. Other than that, lot's of nice points brought out that I didn't get elsewhere! Thanks! I appreciate your work.

Iso dynamic seats are standard in the TRD Pro, but is there going to be an option to not get the seat in the trd pro?

I would have to drive both first.
I like the looks of the TRD PRO.

Nice to see the collaboration! My question is which truck will be smoother on gravel and forestry roads?

@Born… Almost certainly the Pro because of the new seat.

The shocks on the back of the 2 front seats should be optional. Very disappointing that it takes up leg room! This will be a deal breaker for people!

I was thinking a knee breaker for back seat passengers in a crash. Hard no on them.

@@dadventuretv2538 Exactly. Toyota screwed up if those seats are standard on all Taco trims. It should be optional for only people who want to race and drive fast off-road. I don’t need or want shock seats! What a gimmick!!
