People who like Kankens love the minimalistic outlook, it's simple, it provides maximum storage, and as an architect student who brings lots of supplies for drafting to school, Kanken holds everything I needed without looking too bulky and it won't feel as much heavy. People who like Doughnuts love the maximum storage and the organization of items as it has many pockets. It has a thicker fabric(but both Kankens and Doughnuts are durable when it comes to fabric), thicker straps and what sets Doughnuts apart from Kankens are their buckled designs which serves as a contrast to the Kankens' simplistic outlook. We all have our preferences. Let's respect what other people like. I still love the Kanken, but I'd still recommend Doughnuts to people, or either depending on what they want and need.

I have both a Fjallraven Kanken and a Doughnut and I can say that the Doughnut one is way more practical to use than Kanken. the Doughnut bag is water resistant, has a lot of compartments, and requires minimal maintenance. I rarely use my Kanken cause the color fades the more you use it (especially when you use it under the sun cause of the dye) and I hate seeing dirt on it (cause I have the light shade one) and it's so expensive

I bought a blue and white Himawari for college and it’s pretty durable. It holds :my 13 in laptop(and charger), a binder planner, 5 subject notebook, folder and 2 textbooks. Not to mention the many pockets it holds stores : my gum, pencil case, phone and calculator. It’s a very nice backpack and very cute!! My only concern is sometimes to open the front pouch the buttons are stubborn and requires a little force. Other then that it’s perfect for me! They have a variety of colors to pick from and it’s not too big or small in size.

i bought a doughnut just about 3 years ago now, even though covid hit, i went to a small school during that time and was able to stay hybrid so i used it still, for the amount of stuff the backpack has been through in the past 3 years of high school, it's held up absolutely amazing! the quality is well worth the price and it's very practical if you can minimize the amount of supplies you use for school (even though i overstuff mine every day). very much recommend it!
MY TAKE: I have a kanken mini and a standard size doughnut backpack. I’m in college and I’ve condensed most of my books and notes into my iPad or MacBook. They both have their pros and cons, I can use them both for class, but if you live in an area where it rains a lot the Doughnut will be your best friend. Water physically repels off the backpack and I never have to worry about my iPad getting wet. I’ve been caught in a pop-up shower with no umbrella; the Doughnut handled it well and everything stayed dry. As far as summer, both backpacks do a good job of keeping the interior cool if they’re placed in direct sunlight. I have 2 dark colored backpacks (Doughnut: wine; Kanken: graphite). I’ll admit the Doughnut’s interior does not get warm AT ALL even in the Florida sun - the water I had in my bag for hours still stayed cool. Whereas using a kanken the water was no longer cold, but not terribly warm.

It is a pretty nice brand. I bought a himawari backpack and really love it. It’s cute, practical and I got mine for about $30 (wayyy better price than $70 for a kanken if you ask me)
I got a pastel blue and pink doughnut backpack. I only bought it 2 months ago and used it once so it’s relatively brand new. If anyone wants to buy it, you can inform me since I don’t see myself using it in the future. I can send you pics of it.

It’s cute but I think I I prefer the kanken since it’s more eco-friendly and helps with my back problems because the weight is evenly distributed. I actually like the straps because I have small shoulders so normal backpack straps keep sliding off. The kanken was definitely a great investment for me :)

This has been meeee for 2 weeks now. I'm not in school, so I don't need a backpack for that, but I use one for my daily walks to carry my water bottle, extra dog gear, my Kanken gear bag, etc., and I have spent lots of money figuring out what is most comfortable for me. My Himawari has been it so far. I haven't used my Kanken for walks yet because I love it and the color so much, that I'm afraid to get it dirty. In fact, I've considered another Kanken in the same color just to have a spare.
I got the Doughnut Macaroon classic and I love it. It's very durable, lightweight, and can fit lots of stuff. When I say it's durable, i mean it is very very very durable. I used it a mommy bag 😊
I'm getting the Himawari cause I'm poor and a student. I need the extra room for books and after looking at multiple reviews, You can't even tell it's a bootleg company.
People have been saying that the himawari is just a knockoff of the doughnut (I bought it for the significantly cheaper prices) and tbh it’s not even bad enough to say it’s a knockoff.
I have the Doughnut Macaroon in the large size I have to say it is quite spacious, I can fit my pencil case in the front pocket and I still have room to fit more. In the main compartment I can fit my school laptop in the laptop compartment (its 13 inches) a 5 liter toiletry bag, 3 Kokuyo notebooks 2 being 50 pages and the other one being 80, a standard 3 ring 1 1/5 binder and in both the large pocket on the flap and the back zipper above the laptop compartment I can fit a 300 page book, in the two inner side pockets I can fit water bottles and charging cables. I even have space for more things and could totally fit a lunch box and planner in the main compartment. The quality is great and you can adjust straps if it is to lose/tight. Just so you know the large size has 2 extra compartments, 1 above the laptop compartment and 1 on the back of the bag where straps are, these extra compartments are only on the large size so remember that if you are looking into buying a Doughnut Macaroon.
I feel like both bags are made by the same company, but himawari is just a price-cut version for thrifty people. I bought the himawari for my day-to-day use and I plan on buying the Doughtnut large stone color for my travelling:)

I have the Soda x Cream mini. I handwashed it with detergent powder and put it in the dryer. Now it looks new! All the dirt from my daily commute is gone. The leather trimming is genuine (I personally love leather so those who don't might want to consider that). I love this backpack but a part of me still wants to try the Kanken mini. I have Anello mini and it's also good. I know that a lot of people swear by their Kanken so I'm still intrigued. Not sure if it's worth it though.

my laptop's screen is 14"- the dimensions of my laptop are 9.5" x 13.5" with .5" thickness and it fits snugly in the laptop compartment with very little room to move. i think that the MacBook Pro would be too big but it could fit in the Doughnut Macaroon Large bag which is $95+

I have the himawari and I love I! I'm a highschool senior and I can fit my razer blade stealth, a 1" binder, a math textbook, a planner, two notebooks (composition sized), graphing calculator, box of colored pencils, book for reading, two expo markers, a pack of notecards, a folder, a pencil box, deodarant, a couple lipsticks, a full loose pack of pens, and my chargers for my phone and laptop. it's a really spacious bag and I downsized from high Sierra big ass 40 L bag...so yeah. its comfortable to wear but I cant snap the strap snaps since I need more shoulder space. it is easy to access your stuff quickly and efficiently but it does help if you keep your books in order from like biggest to smallest so you can maximize your space. the little compartments are really useful too and easy to get to. the color is really vibrant! the only thing that's not great is just be careful when you're zipping bc the anchor of the zipper to the backpack itself does seem strained when full... and also use the snaps on the small compartment bc low key I didnt even realise they came undone and having undone and redone the buckle so much, I kind of wore down the leather a bit and it's a little cracked on the coating. but yeah, overall, yes theres enougy room and it's a fantastic bag ^-^

I love these style of bags. I just knew these trademarks in RUclips videos and already bought another doughnut backpack, it really is high quality. my himawari bag lasted longer than my doughnut bag... the doughnut bag lost its structure while the himawari bag was still firm even after washing it a lot of times.

I had the pink version backpack for while, and if you plan on using this backpack for school long term I would not recommend simply because the leather like material wears out and ends up ripping off. If your not using it for a rigorous school schedule with lots of binders and books, then you should be fine, overall it's a great backpack

You prolly have a fake kanken cuz theyre waterproof and the colour dosent fade and ive got a light red one and got it on sale for like 34£ 🤷🏻♀️

It’s cute but I think I I prefer the kanken since it’s more eco-friendly and helps with my back problems because the weight is evenly distributed. I actually like the straps because I have small shoulders so normal backpack straps keep sliding off. The kanken was definitely a great investment for me :)
I used my himawari all last year and it's still in great shape, so it is pretty durable as well :)

this video is the whole reason why i bought a doughnut! the himawari was cheaper (around $40 ish) but shipping to the uk is $40 adding up to $80. so i got a doughnut for £40 and it’s amazing!

This has been meeee for 2 weeks now.
I'm not in school, so I don't need a backpack for that, but I use one for my daily walks to carry my water bottle, extra dog gear, my Kanken gear bag, etc., and I have spent lots of money figuring out what is most comfortable for me.
My Himawari has been it so far.
I haven't used my Kanken for walks yet because I love it and the color so much, that I'm afraid to get it dirty.
In fact, I've considered another Kanken in the same color just to have a spare.

People have been saying that the himawari is just a knockoff of the doughnut (I bought it for the significantly cheaper prices) and tbh it’s not even bad enough to say it’s a knockoff.

I have the Doughnut Macaroon in the large size I have to say it is quite spacious, I can fit my pencil case in the front pocket and I still have room to fit more. In the main compartment I can fit my school laptop in the laptop compartment (its 13 inches) a 5 liter toiletry bag, 3 Kokuyo notebooks 2 being 50 pages and the other one being 80, a standard 3 ring 1 1/5 binder and in both the large pocket on the flap and the back zipper above the laptop compartment I can fit a 300 page book, in the two inner side pockets I can fit water bottles and charging cables. I even have space for more things and could totally fit a lunch box and planner in the main compartment. The quality is great and you can adjust straps if it is to lose/tight. Just so you know the large size has 2 extra compartments, 1 above the laptop compartment and 1 on the back of the bag where straps are, these extra compartments are only on the large size so remember that if you are looking into buying a Doughnut Macaroon.

I feel like both bags are made by the same company, but himawari is just a price-cut version for thrifty people. I bought the himawari for my day-to-day use and I plan on buying the Doughtnut large stone color for my travelling:)

I have the Soda x Cream mini. I handwashed it with detergent powder and put it in the dryer. Now it looks new! All the dirt from my daily commute is gone. The leather trimming is genuine (I personally love leather so those who don't might want to consider that).
I love this backpack but a part of me still wants to try the Kanken mini. I have Anello mini and it's also good. I know that a lot of people swear by their Kanken so I'm still intrigued. Not sure if it's worth it though.

when you say you have a 14" laptop that fits, do you mean the screen is 14" or the laptop size itself is 14"? I'm considering buying the Himawari, and I have a 15.4" MacBook Pro, but the length is technically only 14" wide...will that mean it'll fit in this bag?
my laptop's screen is 14"- the dimensions of my laptop are 9.5" x 13.5" with .5" thickness and it fits snugly in the laptop compartment with very little room to move.
i think that the MacBook Pro would be too big but it could fit in the Doughnut Macaroon Large bag which is $95+

TeamPuffers :D for me the Himawari is good enough to me. Its comfortable, that’s my opinion on it though.
I have the himawari and I love I! I'm a highschool senior and I can fit my razer blade stealth, a 1" binder, a math textbook, a planner, two notebooks (composition sized), graphing calculator, box of colored pencils, book for reading, two expo markers, a pack of notecards, a folder, a pencil box, deodarant, a couple lipsticks, a full loose pack of pens, and my chargers for my phone and laptop. it's a really spacious bag and I downsized from high Sierra big ass 40 L bag...so yeah. its comfortable to wear but I cant snap the strap snaps since I need more shoulder space. it is easy to access your stuff quickly and efficiently but it does help if you keep your books in order from like biggest to smallest so you can maximize your space. the little compartments are really useful too and easy to get to. the color is really vibrant! the only thing that's not great is just be careful when you're zipping bc the anchor of the zipper to the backpack itself does seem strained when full... and also use the snaps on the small compartment bc low key I didnt even realise they came undone and having undone and redone the buckle so much, I kind of wore down the leather a bit and it's a little cracked on the coating. but yeah, overall, yes theres enougy room and it's a fantastic bag ^-^

I bought the Himawari for college and it's pretty comfortable for me to wear. I use both straps and have zero problem with comfort. ( Keep in mind I walk tons every day around campus getting to class ) I would recommend!

I love these style of bags. I just knew these trademarks in RUclips videos and already bought another doughnut backpack, it really is high quality. But before I knew these I bought the same style at aliexpress the store was Findpop, I've been using these bags for a couple of years and have not complains, but I admit that doughnut are better quality
I have a seventeen London backpack and I think it’s a mixture of these two tbh, I love the seventeen London backpack so much but between these two bags I think the black one is better for high school or college students while the pink one is better for middle and elementary students since it’s more compact and smaller

my himawari bag lasted longer than my doughnut bag... the doughnut bag lost its structure while the himawari bag was still firm even after washing it a lot of times.
hey, I came back. I got the Himawari backpack to test out if I would want to invest in a doughnut bag. The Himawari was a bit small than I thought it would be.. but it’s fine... just had a problem on the height of the bag. Anyways, thank you for this video, very helpful. 💞

I had the pink version backpack for while, and if you plan on using this backpack for school long term I would not recommend simply because the leather like material wears out and ends up ripping off. If your not using it for a rigorous school schedule with lots of binders and books, then you should be fine, overall it's a great backpack
