I learned from MoKnowsHair that we should either condition or deep condition. One or the other. Deep conditioners are best for type 3 and 4 hair. Regular conditioners better for type 1 and 2, although those hair type can also benefit from regular deep conditioning. Regular conditioners actually start to seal the hair making deep conditioners less effective. When I started only deep conditioning after shampooing I saw a big difference in my hair for the better. That’s probably why you don’t like regular conditioners 😆😁
For the longest time, my protein "deep conditioner" was a light protein conditioner. It's never failed me. I only started using a deep conditioner/mask for my protein because I wanted something more intense. I'm type 4 too. One size doesn't fit all. In fact, multiple sizes can fit one.
I definitely think that depends on the person. I have type 3B and 3C hair and I pre-poo with oil but my hair is always too matted to detangle at that point unless I want to take a couple hours which I don’t. So I shampoo, and then use conditioner just to detangle, and then I still deep condition. And it’s done great for my hair. I find if I go straight from the shampoo to deep conditioner they nine times out of 10 don’t have enough slip for me to detangle.
Recognizing that my specific head of hair is different from hers and I'm merely months into growing my hair out, it's reassuring knowing I've got similar products and a routine that's identical to someone who's had such fabulous results. Genetics in mind, I hope my hair also reaches its maximum length. Definitely picked up some tips and gonna try some of those products!
I've been watching your videos from when the name was journey to waist length because I was also on a journey to waist length since 2013. You've really inspired me sister, and now I've just started my hair channel. Thanks a lot!❤❤

Say it again for the ones that will go out and buy all the same products a person with long hair uses thinking it will give them same results, leave your hair alone and it will grow.
I absolutely love going straight to deep treatments from my shampoo. My pre poo is actually my pre detangle with a spray leave in detangler. It costs my strands, add moisture, and gives some luster before cleansing. Leave ins applied in the shower is bae. And a thick cream allow it to dry some and then apply my stylers and I’m good 🥰
Pre poo with oil/aloe/rice water (any combo depending on what my hair needs), wash 3 times, deep condition (ideally with heat), then style in a stretched state (mini twists, Marley twists, roller set)....trim when needed. Datsssss it. I’ll never do a twist out or wash n go again haha.
@@Jess-ew3tm they require more manipulation to maintain for some people, so they're not worth it. For example for some people it's low manipulation because they can go for like 10 days. Creme of nature has some of the best shampoos, I don’t really use conditioner either but I’m on the hunt for a great deep conditioner (currently using creme of nature pure honey hair mask).. Great video!!
As for me , hair grease, chest vapour rub and my diy oil , my Diy deep conditioner, and my soap bar to wash my hair, conditioner that’s all l use on my hair

I hate blow-drying my hair but it's the only way I can avoid single strand knots. I've tried stretching my hair without heat but it never works properly so I end up having to apply heat.
I love love LOOOVVE that cream of Nature shampoo.. leaves your hair so soft but still cleanses🤎 and I’m grabbing me that curly wig, that’s sooo cute on you 😻
I too have low porosity hair and I have tried many different products, but my hair LOVES the Cantu Coconut Curling Creme. It leaves my hair so moisturized and soft.
This video was so helpful.. Thank you so much.. my hair is growing.. but I'm also noticing breakage on my shirt I noticed it here and there. But now with your help I believe I can put an end to this, with enough moisturizer.. thank you, thank yo, thank you 💖 your hair is beautiful by the way 😊
I have low porosity fine hair, so true stick to what your hair loves, that’s what I need to do! Conditioners, don’t do nothing to my hair either, I have to find what my hair likes, I need moisture and something that hydrates my hair, because my hair is always dry!❤️
Hey Shanique, The Cantu coconut curling cream is my favorite too i have been using it for years no matter what else i try. SM jbco shampoo is my go to. being consistent is key for me and not doing the most. Now that i am more comfortable and have learned more about my hair over the years (set backs included) If my curls are good i am a happy camper.
Your hair is always long and very thick!!! I love the Creme of Nature shampoo. It’s creamy, moisturizing, and leaves my hair very soft! Now that I am “texlaxed” I don’t use as many products anymore. Also my hair prefers deep conditioners over conditioners as well. I don’t waste money on conditioners anymore except the Aussie Moist one
I was told if you put a plastic cap on your head and add heat or sit under a dryer the regular conditioner becomes a deep conditioner because the heat opens the cuticle and allows the conditioner to penetrate deeper.
Thank you such a great educational video. Your hair is so beautiful and healthy!! Thanks for educating us great tips!! I definitely want to check out your products. 🙂😊🙌🏽👍🏾

What about Shea moisture stuff I love their stuff for my natural hair. I use the castor oil shampoo and leave in conditioner and lo porosity deep condition they have.
Your hair is goals. Am almost 1 year natural ( big chopped in September last year. Completely wet bold bold) but I still don't have a regime and no clue what I am doing.
Look into rainbow research on herb. They have henna you can use as a protein treatment and shampoo and conditioner with natural ingredients that strengthen and moisturize. They are also less than $8 for each product; you’ll break the bank trying to keep up with every trend and brand you try. Iherb has grapeseed oil for about $6 and also essential oils you can mix in if your scalp enjoys them. Just wash, condition, and style once a week or every two weeks, moisturizing(listening) to your hair as you go along. Protein(henna or other) once a month or every two months if it’s strong.
@@miscellaneouslife2778 O.M.G......thank you so much queen 👸🏾💖❤. Can I also mix the henna into a deep conditioner or mask every wash day? If so, which are the best deep conditioners to use? Do you also have any leave in conditioner recommendations that are good? Thanks again!
@@fayton30 Products: I recently tried the Miele rosemary and mint hair mask and I liked it with my oil treatment. They’re doing free shipping until Monday if you want to try it out, it doesn’t have the most oz for the price but the ingredients are relatively good. If you don’t want harsh chemicals(everything is a chemical some things are just healthier for you body than others) in your products id recommend making your own, but some people like the ease of it already being made at the store. Just look into the ingredients and see how much silicon, formaldehyde, pegs, ammonium, etc are in the products. I don’t really do leave-ins often enough to recommend products, but products with good ingredients are anything by the mane choice or melanin haircare(people don’t like the mint smell of the leave in but it didn’t irritate me). At the start of my natural hair journey(last March), I did the “water only method” and got full sebum coverage. I would put a Shea butter cream I made on the length of my hair just to help the sebum and then twist it up. That worked pretty well and my hair was longer and stronger. Henna: Neutral henna by rainbow research won’t give you the red-orange tint regular henna does so that may be best for you. I currently use MB herbals henna(red-orange tint) and they are on Amazon, the neutral henna by rr is good as a weekly mask. Regular henna can be pretty strong as a protein treatment if you use a large amount of the powder per solvent, but you can look up “henna gloss” on RUclips and find recipes with a smaller amount that people use more often. Henna does best on clean hair and mixed with water(teas like black or chamomile too) after sitting for a couple hours in a container so the dye releases, but you can mix it with anything from yogurt to conditioner(just something creamy). You can’t mix henna with metal because it messes up the properties, and mixing with oil does the same(oil henna mix would be good if you use it more often than once a month because it won’t be as strong.) I deep condition or mask by getting my hair a little wet(doesn’t have to be hot water), then applying a mask or store bought conditioner and some oil on my scalp, and putting a plastic bag on my head for maybe twenty minutes(more if I forget). The heat from your scalp will turn the water into steam, and whatever is on your scalp(oil or scalp treatment) will soak in the follicles while everything on your hair will go into the cuticle if the molecules as small enough(people don’t use conditioner over deep conditioner bc they say the molecules of the former are too large to do anything). Overall I recommend doing what’s best for you in terms of products and product use, some people need more protein and others don’t and some don’t care about ingredients as much. I think my natural hair journey being more of a journey home(like finding that home) is why I go for a less manipulated routine, but some people decide to heat train, relax, braid and wig, wash and go every week, etc and that’s fine too because they decided it was best for them. I keep my hair in twists and wear a scarf(silk) out the house, washing every week or two weeks, but that isn’t for everyone either. When my hair gets to my goal length I’ll take the scarf off but I actually like how people treatment me when I wear it so we’ll see(everyone is really respectful and kind). If you ever have any questions feel free to message me on here or my Instagram is miscellaneous_life.
It’s good that u don’t use conditioner it actually only coats the hair & won’t allow anything else to penetrate the hair. I actually just got rid of all my rinse out conditioners.
Your hair journey has been Azaming! Congrats! I was using the Jane Carter Solution curl defining cream, but it's been discontinued. What is the next best thing?
Hey Shanique, have you tried Joico Kpak products? The intense hydrator and reconstructor are amazing! My daughter has waist length hair and this has been a game changer.
Have you tried the herbal essences maximum hydration conditioner? I think that’s what it’s called.. it’s the blue one but, it works well and I have some type 4 hair and struggled to find a conditioner that works well with my hair But this one works magic!
Hey Shanique,do you oil your scalp and do you do hot oil treatments and if so,what oils do you use and after how long.Thankyou for your regimen and its simplicity.I am glad you are not obsessed with "diys for extreme hair growth"
Hey yes I do. I completely forgot to mention this. I don’t do it often so that’s probably why it slipped m mind. Hot oil treatments every few months. Scalps massages 2x a month. I use Hibiscus Fusion Hair Oil for both. Link in the description box 😊
Beautiful soul I can't just believe u replied to everyone's comments , Pls recommend a hair oil for my low porosity to grow longer and fuller , all those products u mentioned I can't find it in Egypt so I hope u recommend something else , because I tired alot after 3 days I get dandruff , I couldn't even wear braid's anymore , Thanks I would be expecting your response
Hey Try onion juice … green beauty has a great recipe for this and a video explaining how to do it (pros, cons etc ) … it works… I did this for my mum and her dandruff reduced every week of use and now she doesn’t get the flaking anymore (it used to flake onto her clothes 2-3 days after a wash) . We use the boil method to make the juice (it helped me with hair thickness and reduced shedding ) .
Your hair has always been GOALS!
wow thank you so much
Honestly sis!
Thank you! 😭❤️
I agree gorgeous luscious hair ❤️
Definitely hair goals
Genetics also play a huge part! I think most people forget that when they have these hair goals of other people.
Facts
Genetics will just determine the growth rate
It determines more than growth rate. Also hair texture which can effect manageability.
@@ChesnaHoward yeah but what I mean is that your genetics won’t keep your hair from growing. It might take more time or effort but that’s all

Products:
I recently tried the Miele rosemary and mint hair mask and I liked it with my oil treatment.
Henna:
Neutral henna by rainbow research won’t give you the red-orange tint regular henna does so that may be best for you.
You can’t mix henna with metal because it messes up the properties, and mixing with oil does the same(oil henna mix would be good if you use it more often than once a month because it won’t be as strong.)
I deep condition or mask by getting my hair a little wet(doesn’t have to be hot water), then applying a mask or store bought conditioner and some oil on my scalp, and putting a plastic bag on my head for maybe twenty minutes(more if I forget).

It’s good that u don’t use conditioner it actually only coats the hair & won’t allow anything else to penetrate the hair. I actually just got rid of all my rinse out conditioners.
Yea I haven’t used those in a while

Hey Shanique,do you oil your scalp and do you do hot oil treatments and if so,what oils do you use and after how long.Thankyou for your regimen and its simplicity.I am glad you are not obsessed with "diys for extreme hair growth"
Hey yes I do. I completely forgot to mention this. I don’t do it often so that’s probably why it slipped m mind. Hot oil treatments every few months. Scalps massages 2x a month. I use Hibiscus Fusion Hair Oil for both. Link in the description box 😊

Hey
Try onion juice … green beauty has a great recipe for this and a video explaining how to do it (pros, cons etc ) … it works… I did this for my mum and her dandruff reduced every week of use and now she doesn’t get the flaking anymore (it used to flake onto her clothes 2-3 days after a wash) . We use the boil method to make the juice (it helped me with hair thickness and reduced shedding ) .
I’m not her but you could try grapeseed, avocado, or olive oil
