Easy job thanks to your video. 02 Beetle Turbo. rolled front end up on a pair of 4" blocks...easy access. took 1 & 7/8 qts of Mobile 75/90. Not perfectly level, but close enough. Loosened fill plug 1st...not removed. gentle drain. good job on post!
Thanks for great video. I have 2002 MK4 2.0L 5 speed manual golf. See in my Hayne's manual capacity is 2.1 quarts or 2L. Was the 2 x 946mL bottles shown in the video sufficient as is just short of 2L?
Sweet oil leak it seems the oil pressure sensor right above the oil filter gets loose and leaks more and more. Would appreciate a better description like oil used and type. 👍👍
Thanks for the nice video! I was trying to follow along, but the U-shape pipe (e.g., the black ones at 1:42) blocked the ratchet. How did you deal with this? Did you force away the pipe or did you have to remove it?
I did not have to remove that pipe. I believe I either used an extension to use a ratchet without the pipe being in the way or throw a universal joint extension on the end of the ratchet if you need some wiggle room.
There must be individual differences among cars. In mine the hex bit pushes directly against the pipe and there is not enough room for ratchet or anything else. In the end, I removed the screw that fixes the pipe to the transmission fluid tank. It flexes the pipe enough that I can maneuver and I was able to finish the job. The transmission oil smelled really bad, but the shift becomes a bit smoother now :)
ROFL.... Drain a gear box without making sure that the filler plug can loose.... This video starts with a beginners mistake, unforgivable for somebody making a tutorial !
Always a good idea to break loose the fill plug first. You don't want drain the oil and then find out you can't get the filler plug loose!!
NBD. Just gotta flip her over.
Mustakrakish I laughed
Why would you come on a tutorial video and try to correct it. Make ur own video if ur so smart, ur just gonna confuse people
That's a great point
@@ColonelFlickage sounds like you made that mistake 😂😂😂

Always break the fill plug before the drain plug 👌
Thank You, 4 this DIY... Here in brazil there aren't even 1 video about this topic
Glad it was helpful!

would also like to know this, I bought 2 bottles of redline mt90 and that stuff isn't cheap- for an extra 100 ml I may not need
How many miles are on the car? I bought a 2004 with 185k miles. I'm sure the oil has never been change. I think I will make a video this weekend.

why did you cut out the tightening torque of the filler bolt?
Awesome thank you so much! Just making sure I will do it right and see if there's anything to look for before I do this.
I just used the tire lock thing hammered a socket on it an it worked fine to take plugs off
Yeee haaa!!
Car is bullet proof
Well explained ! Thanks!

thanks for this video..
You’re not supposed to burp the trans after you fill it tho right?
how much you refilled in after?
Fill until it comes out. its not like the engine oil where overfilling would cause damage.
It's about 2 litres.
2.4 qts I believe
is this oil good for golf 4 sdi?
What type of manual trans fluid
75w90
always take out the fill plug first. If you drain it and can't get the fill plug out your absolutely fucked.
On mine you remove reversing light switch on top of gearbox and fill from there. Seat altea. Built by VW.
How many litres does it take
How many liters of oil do you need to transmit?
2 litres
Would you recommend changing the filter too when you drain and refill w/ new transmission fluid?
No filters on manual transmissions.
The only option there would be to get a magnetic drain plug as these VW transmissions don't have any sort of filter system.
You're supposed to fill it through the reverse switch
What is the reverse switch?
Quanto olio ci và 2 kg o meno ? Grazie mille
