The reason this this show is better than any other car show I can think of is that you mention the fonts on the tail before you even consider mentioning the handling.
I took delivery of my 992 C4S 5 months ago. I have 6,500 miles on it and this really is a proper sporting GT car. Quick as a rabbit and very agile. Comfortable on long trips, people love the looks of it, and it performs flawlessly on snow, ice, heavy rain, and the heat. True, it cost a bundle, but I’m 74 now and I will drive this until I can’t drive anymore. I’ve been driving 911 cars since the first “F” generation, and still have my 996 Turbo X50. But as wonderful as the. X50 996 is, this Bad boy spanks the pants off of it in every respect. Long live 911 cars! Ciao! BTW, your review is flaming spot on and entertaining!!!!!!
On the subject of hitting your knee on the key; I have a story. One fateful January night, my short-lived rap metal band booked a gig (alternative night) at Yoko’s nightclub in Aberystwyth. I drove down from north Wales in my mk2.5 MX-5 with two guitar cases in the passenger seat with the top down because it wouldn’t fit over the guitars. The gig went quite well and was heartily celebrated so I stayed in Aber overnight with a friend. Much to my surprise, it had snowed heavily overnight and was still snowing at 9am. Knowing that I didn’t have much time before I was stuck in Aberystwyth, I raced over to the club and collected my gear and set off on the 2 hour journey home, following the bass player in his VW up with my roof down in blizzard conditions. About an hour from home, my Mazda randomly shut off on a particularly steep and long hill. I spent an hour or so trying to diagnose the problem before giving up. Lo and behold when I tried the ignition after spending a lengthy amount of time under the bonnet, it started right up sweet as anything; the only conclusion being that I’d knocked the ignition off with my knee going up this particularly steep and bumpy hill. Despite the wasted hour and my mechanical inability it was still a fun drive in the snow, even on R888s...
Talking about inflation. One of my other cars, a 96 Saab 9000 2.3T Aero was £36.7k back in 1996. And yet my new A class AMG line premium plus, with loads of options ticked was 34.5k. So DAMN the Saab was really super expensive back in the 90's. No wonder they didnt sell so well back then.Love mine though. Mildly tuned, 360bhp. 70 to 100 on private roads, just 3.5 seconds. I dare say it would keep with this Porsche at those speeds.
Loved this 911-dedicated episode, took me straight back to 1998. Imagine if you will, a 1997 Carrera Cabriolet wide body 3.2 - and yes, it was Guards red with black leather piped in red. I bought this and had so much fun with it. Great great drivers car, superb economical daily driver, drop the top and show off unashamedly. Increased in value !!! I bought this as a present to myself before 'jumping off the roundabout' and moving to Scotland to start a new life.
If you did it in dark blue with gold wheels, it would be both appropriately channeling the ghost of McRae's original 555 Subaru, and you'd match the Walter Wolf Kremer K3 Strasse, one of the most bananas street-legal cars ever.
Have you thought about reviewing more older cars or as comparison to some of the newer ones? I’d lend you my 964 in guards red if you want to compare to the 992. Doesnt have gold wheels unfortunately.
I would prefer it if both intelligent and witty men would rotate the initial length of seat belt rotated clockwise as apposed to counter within the dispenser to shoulder region if at all possible. Call it a 180 degree rotation if you will. Kind regards and salutations Daniel
When I saw the gold wheel centres rotating I deeply wondered about the log, later Jonny talks about the 3 bent legs Isle of Man logo, now imagine the hub centre with 4 legs, an old Porsche KfD symbol ????
It will with the speed these 992s are dropping. First Porsche I've -ever- owned which is already going for under list, with Porsche doing "deals" on them to get them out the door.
x o Yeah, I’m hoping they start to drop with the release of the new GT3. The 991.1 GT3’s are getting so close to them on price that they have to start dropping soon.
Good review! Biggest difference I found between 991.2 and 992 was (as you both found) some dodgy bits of trim (interior mirror controls) and weird/bad design (interior and exterior door handles), but mainly the handling has jumped on massively with wider body - front end grip was incredible in standard model. Exhaust note is very quiet if you don't have sports exhaust and the car is generally quieter all round but the main difference is the price - even the basic Carrera with a few options is £95k. Plenty of low mileage 911T's (manual) available for £80K.....
When ever Smith and Sniff do a Porsche I can only get through it if I imagine you both with cloths pegs on your noses... Without it's like being told how good surgical equipment is which are fantastic and thank goodness we have them but I just glaze over and my head slowly comes to rest on the keyboarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (normally i'm in fits and do look forward to Fridays btw)
The camera shot of the hood (from the windshield) threw me off. I am used to seeing the view of the headlamp/fender resembling that of the rear sight of a pistol. Nonetheless, I do like the shape of a modern 911. Still beautiful.
Lads, £90k is about €102k - yet here in Ireland the base 911 starts at £150k/€165k. If they were 90k we’d all have one (well, we wouldn’t, but you know what I mean 😏)
Fuck me people on youtube discount cars for the weirdest reasons. That up there with saying you wouldn’t buy a car because you don’t like the colour of the boot lining.
The whole 911 platform is getting too bloated. I’d like a neo 356 or 911 narrow body with, get this, the three cylinder turbo from the Up! GTI. Nice and light. Nail it everywhere on full throttle. The first 911 was a nimble sports car. This looks like a barge.
The Cayman is essentially the size of the old 997, an older Cayman (987) is much closer in size and performance to the classic 911. The 991 (previous generation) and 992 (new generation) are awesome cars but they seem more like GT cars - in other words the old 928.
I was expecting to see the car on the outside with that rare spec that it has, and instead I find two fools talking non-stop and showing nothing of the new model ... a waste of time this video.
Going to start measuring acceleration by how far Jonny's sunglasses fly back on his head

Disappointed that I will no longer be able to judge a 911 owner by the number of blanked off buttons on his center console.

Good to see you back. That was verging on a proper road test though!

Cheers chaps, missed you. Peter Kay gearbox is marvellous. :)
Lots of skid marks on the road at 4:01 ,i'm sure its just coincidence you happen to be there. Keep the videos coming i love them.

I love this review for so many things but having a 997 owner review this is all the more informative on the changes. Great stuff chaps
Floating nubbin' - good.
Piano Black surround - looks nasty
I'd have it for the dusty nubbin' alone
Great vid. The volume knob for’t wireless looks the same as my 2017 A4.
Can’t beat a chromed domed knurled knob.
Try saying that fast 😎
That tachometer looks sooo much like a proper classic VDO, lovely.

Liked this report. Mature car seemed to soak through to help make more mature conversation.. 991.2 Carrera T or similar for me too please.:)
Stunning. Those gold wheels would look amazing on black. Wow

I was more interested in the watches they are wearing. I saw earlier on they were sponsored by Aqua Dive watches. They all look pricey!
Yay you're back! I was afraid I just started watching your channel just when you guys stopped making videos; would be my normal luck D:
Spotting each conscious presenting of the sponsor's watches could be a drinking game... CLOCKMASTER ! 🥃😄
jasonl17 Fine by me. I’ll take beautiful watches any day over Apple watches.
Jonny wears his on his right arm. Hmmmm
Both of their seatbelts seem to be twisted. Can't unsee it.
That constipated "helmsmans drive" voice was the funniest thing I've heard in ages. You and your borrowed gold rim.
Did I miss were the ACTUAL price of that car, avec options, was mentioned?. They discussed it a few times but I don’t think a figure was spoken.
If you have kids in the back seats misbehaving, you can threaten them with the paddles.
You can spec it with body colour rims, it looks amazing
Great review - 911 overshadowed by your witty repartee lol love the gold wheels btw
Good to see you guys back 👍
Last time I saw gold wheels, they were on a C plate Cavalier CDi I owned. Bet that 911 can't be specced up with brown velour.
I bet you it can! £949 plus VAT.
When I saw the gold wheel centres rotating I deeply wondered about the log, later Jonny talks about the 3 bent legs Isle of Man logo, now imagine the hub centre with 4 legs, an old Porsche KfD symbol ????
Who else called up the Porsche website and started considering what options you would have.......if the money was available!!!
Missed you guys.
I just wish the 991.1 GTS would come down another 10-20k

Yes, you're back. :)
Guards red with gold wheels; yes it really works

Rod Thompson has
Yeeeeeeeeeees!!!!! At last, a whiff of the sublime boys : )

Hah! A great return! of the dynamic duo!
The camera shot of the hood (from the windshield) threw me off. I am used to seeing the view of the headlamp/fender resembling that of the rear sight of a pistol. Nonetheless, I do like the shape of a modern 911. Still beautiful.
do one of these in a model 3 performance ... your viewership demands it!! .. (at least this one does)
Did you guys just review a car??? New season, new goals? :)
Lads, £90k is about €102k - yet here in Ireland the base 911 starts at £150k/€165k. If they were 90k we’d all have one (well, we wouldn’t, but you know what I mean 😏)
A "grown up" man on the road car review by a couple of proper car jurno's, brilliant.
Well done gents, Fridays mornings are a happy place again! Gutted there are no alpine bomber jackets!!
Gareth Noble All in good time Gareth
This the one where they lost the camera?
£52K in 1998 is £89k in today's money, so makes sense.
8 speed Peter Kay!
Probably should've put in the ending in the main part of the video. Or even kicked off with it
At 4min in, I thought Mr Porter was going to boot it round a few!! 🍩
If only there wasn't a twist in the seat belt. Definite deal breaker for me (and the money)
First thing I noticed!
It stood out, didn't it
Fuck me people on youtube discount cars for the weirdest reasons. That up there with saying you wouldn’t buy a car because you don’t like the colour of the boot lining.
When does Jonny get to drive ? (EV Peasant)
Audio is much better this time guys, nice one. :)
Faberlicious, the Dynamic duo return.
Anyone know what watch they're wearing?
dynokill No bloody idea.
Who did that cheeky little donut at that T junction 😂
Tarty gold rims with the red are very 😍
A denim shirt? Johnny is the next Jay Leno
Paul Lees I wish (in terms of cars, not chins)
@@TheLateBrakeShow Now that's funny
Yep it’s definitely a 911, absolutely nothing to get excited about. It’s just a very good sports car.
Can you even be a motoring journo without a MASSIVE vintage diving watch!
Harry Schilbach Absolutely not. Don’t believe the imposters with smart watch wrist computers. Or fitbits.
You should ask Peter Kay to join you on a future review... bring him out for a little jaunt. The world would thank you!
NCB If only!
How much was the list on that car then?
Is the electric power steering 'Porsche' enough yet?
The guy on the right is from 5th gear Jhonny.

Eddie Allen You should drive one of these and then you might think differently.
Beautiful Porsche, but I'm so put off by Jonnys mutton chops...looking like Joe Satriani
They are not Gold. They are "satin aurum". Obviously.
Johnny, please do not take this the wrong way, but I prefer you bearded up 🧔👍🏻 good vid..
Lovely 🤪
Johny seams like he’s in a grump 😂
dieseldynamo I’m truly knackered in this video after a big filming schedule at Goodwood.
The shiny centre console plastics (which look smeared and scratched) look like the cover of an old Amstrad hi-fi from the 80's. Not great..
Nick Wilson nah. The changes on this model you get used to and love pretty quick.
As usual another Porsche that does absolutely fuck all for me........
So the price for this spec was.....???? 😆
thinking the same they told us everything but the total price lol
Sorry, have put this in the video description now. It’s £109,187.
@@smithandsniff hehe, were only jesting. Figured £100k+
no probs thanks :)
She's a beaut 😊
Who would spec gold wheels and then not pay the money to have painted wheel centres? So annoying 😂
The pound has gone down considerably against the Euro since Brexit, that’s probably also a factor to the higher price.
HardCoreFun #YMH
#Rapido
Which watches are you both wearing?
Francesco Sias If only I could tell you...
@@TheLateBrakeShow Just read properly let me have a look
The drivers looks like a panerai
If it’s the ones that sponsor them then shit ones.
Same watch's chap's...!!...Ha !

I live in Borehamwood and I am more offended than Paul Hollywood when you insulted his scent.
David McHardy I never said he smelt bad...
White interior. The horror.

Call me an old git, but i still think a BMW M3 is a £35k car......
Max Torque don’t think it’s been that money for 25years.
Both your seat belts are annoying twisted!
I don’t want it
Is it just me but does anyone else find Mr Smith's wandering hands and fidgety demeanour extremely irritating.
Hm. These two should probably lay off trying to be funny and stick to the serious stuff. Terrible humour. Decent enough review.
