Even if you’re releasing a salt water fish into the ocean and even if it wasn’t born in captivity it’s STILL a bad idea because “the ocean” is not one single ecosystem. Imagine if someone was like “well polar bears live on land” and chucked one into the Amazon. It doesn’t work like that

Also there are bacteria and other illnesses in both fish stores and the ocean, and when putting fish store fish into the wild, the fish will instantly get sick from diseases their immunesystems can't handle, and they might bring illnesses to the native species, completely ruining the ecosystem... op was so right to facepalm, hopefully the girl got a reality check

Even if that girl had released the gold fish into fresh water, they’re invasive species and do INCREDIBLE damage to the environment. They get HUGE, live for decades, and completely destroy other living things where they invade. Calling her a dumbass may have been slightly harsh, but OP is not the asshole for correcting the other person’s mistake. She isn’t saving the fish, she’s torturing them and hurting the environment.

I agree. It's not okay to make light of the situation because they're "just fish". We should respect every living being and not cause it harm. And I'm pretty sure the girl just "freed" the fish to gain attention because if she really wanted to do something good she would've taken the time to do some basic research.

The part about the 3 months passing in a dream reminded me of a reddit story I read about a guy that had a near death experience. Basically dude was in highschool and got knocked out by a football player (he was not playing football, aka was definitely not prepared to be tackled to the sidewalk by a 200lb linebacker). He didn't remember getting knocked out though. He remembered getting knocked over and getting back up. YEARS passed, he met his future wife at college and ended up having 2 beautiful children a daughter and a son and he had a job he loved. Then one day before taking his kids to school he was sitting on the couch and looked at a side table lamp and couldn't break his fixation from it. The lamp itself started looking fuzzier and the light started consuming the things around the room until all he saw was white, then began to hear ambulance sirens and when he opened his eyes he was back on the ground where he got knocked out. He wrote that he was still in therapy over what felt like the loss of his family because he genuinely experienced several years of life while he was knocked out and all of a sudden his family just didn't exist anymore.

As a disabled person, yes! Just call us disabled, please.
How to explain... it doesn't make me any better to be called "differently abled" and, honestly, it's frustrating. I've had *so many* people be uncomfortable with disability and just want to avoid it. The avoidance is far more hurtful to the community than person second language is.
We exist, we can't do things. And the things we can't do are very important to know and understand.
For instance, I can't peel an orange, so those pre peeled oranges are wonderful for me. They seem silly to everyone else, so when they went viral you saw a ton of posts from people who didn't know that some people can't peel them, and it was just disheartening.
I understand and appreciate the effort to try and make us feel less disenfranchised, but language isn't it. Education is. The more visibility we can get for our actual disabilities, the more people can see what we need. But we can't just start by saying, "Oh, but I'm still a competent engineer who deserves to be able to work from home." We've got to start with, "I can't go into an office every day. Please let me work from home." If what we can't do becomes normalized, then the assistance becomes more natural. Because knowing what we can do doesn't give anyone information on how to help us do it.

Hi Morgan :) As an autistic woman myself, I love how you recognised the teaching of “person-first” as problematic. I’m at university doing a double degree in anthropology and health sociology and was taught this too. I’ve never met anyone who is autistic in the community who would get particularly upset at a slip-up, especially if it was taught to them, so don’t worry! But it was super nice to hear you talking about it in such a respectful and empathetic way. That is the only thing that matters :)

i took my nipple piercings out right before i went in for my c-section for my second son and i breastfed my son almost immediately after birth and i can assure you that my nipples didnt shoot in 3 directions, with my oldest son i had to take the piercings out almost as soon as i got pregnant because my body rejected them big time, and it was the same with him, my nipples never shot in 3 directions. Now you dont express milk out of only 1 hole in the breast, you express it through many microscopic holes and that could be what was going on and why the girl thought that she was expressing milk through the piercing holes, the reason it doesnt shoot out the piercing holes if because they pierce the nipple further back away from the tip where the milk comes out, so if in fact she was shooting out the piercing holes, then someone pierced her incorrectly and way to close to the tip of the nipple. Your piercings should rest against the actual breast even though its through the nipple.

The goldfish one, don’t release them into lakes or rivers. But OPs parents being upset at their kid, honestly it shows how mature OP is and how immature the parents are. If that was my kid I’d be damn proud. Those students are stupid, releasing fresh water fish into the ocean! That’s cruel. The adults in this situation are stupid.
Also coming back to this, the school had to be in America. Idk what it is about American Schools but the education is lacking and the bullying of children is more abundant. So many news stories of kids being suspended in the states from brining LEGO lightsabers into the classroom from dyed hair because it makes the child "look like they're in a gang". And now American school boards banning LGBTQ+ books to just the mere mention of racism. American schools are stupid and sad.

I’m extremely late to this episode but I’ve had sleep paralysis several times and every time it’s been horrifying, not only are the hallucinations scary but you just get hit with this very dark presence all around and it weighs heavy on you. I won’t go into too much detail just because I’ve had different experiences each time but from what I’ve researched about it, a lot of people will see the same dark figures and experience a dark presence, it’s never fun like I imagine lucid dreaming would be.

Damn, the story about the jack in the box is rough. I’m usually the DD for my fiancé, and I kind of get it. We the reader don’t know how nice or potentially rude the girlfriend was.. also they may have agreed on a time to leave so he can get up in the morning for work (I’ve done that) and your partner just totally disregards you and your boundaries because they’re drunk. He might of been hella childish leaving Jack in the Box, but when you hit a point where you’re just done, you’re done. It’s only human… plus the whole “were working out” portion, they may have agreed to keep each other accountable. None of that could apply and he’s being dramatic, but just food for thought as a girl who’s dealt with unruly drunk partners.

With the drunken drive-through story, I would have probably done the same thing as the male partner. I have a hard time with impulse control, so if I'm avoiding a food place, I wouldn't want to go in the first place, thus not wanting to be the one ordering is logical to me. I might have stayed long enough to get the food for the partner, but I would have NEVER sober-cabbed for them again.

I would have never found a way to be okay with it without him confiding in me how awful he felt, and to be honest much of the time he did not remember what had happened, and when he did when he felt better he felt very bad.
If this is unusual for them to me it is a warning sign, that is something mentally with them is wrong.
The whole experience really brought us together and ended up being very healing, we have been much happier since, my bf is taking a more effective medication now and has finally fully committed to 'I don't drink because I SHOULDN'T'. I am elated. No excuses anymore.

Her sober self should've accounted for this and either gotten food ahead of time or just eat at home.

I would encourage you to look up the Asian silver carp as well as what lionfish have done in the Caribbean. In general you should never release any pet unless you yourself have taken it from the wild because even animals that have been taken from the wild often end up relying on their human owners and don't survive once released.

I get sleep paralysis! I’ve seen some scary things but most of the time when I become aware of what’s happening I try to keep my eyes closed. Part of my brain is still dreaming so it doesn’t always work but a lot of the time it does. usually I can still hear things around me though. Once, I ‘woke’ up, couldn’t move, and made a point to keep my eyes closed, and It sounded like I was surrounded by people, like at a dinner party or something. I could even hear glasses and silverware clinking, It’s a pretty unique and strange experience every time

I get bouts of sleep paralysis as well. The first time I was sleeping on my boyfriend's parents couch and I could sense and old man walk down the hallways stand over me and lay on top of me. As he laid down, my body became paralyzed. I tried and tried to lift my head and arms and couldn't. Finally, I snapped out of it.
The next few times, I could feel it coming on and was somehow able to not let it set in fully. However.... episodes quickly turned from just scary to horrifying. Eventually I would see dark figures of a short stocky build, with red eyes and long greasy black hair across the room. I would close my eyes hoping they wouldn't come closer.
The worst experience was while I was working a sleep overnight in a group home. I was sleeping peacefully when I heard something walking on the roof of the house. I woke up and figured it was just a bout of sleep paralysis with auditory hallucinations. Like yourself, some of my better episodes were just auditory conversations I didn't really understand. But this, was so much more. I closed my eyes to go back to sleep and wait for the sleep paralysis to pass. Something grabbed me and started dragging me around the room. I opened my eyes, thinking I was being kidnapped. I could feel something pulling me, but couldn't see a thing. The room was whirling around me as whatever it was pulled me around. I closed my eyes and began to pray. The moment I prayed for Jesus to protect me, whatever was grabbing me let go. I drifted over the the couch. Grabbed my phone to text my mom, but could not turn it over to look at the screen. I floated back into the couch. And opened my eyes. No phone in hand.
After this experience, I truly believe sleep paralysis is a form of spiritual warfare.

Then there’s Elise, she’s the angry one, she hates everything and everyone, and lastly I have Karla she’s an old wise woman. It’s so interesting. I was too scared to look around. I tried to roll off of the stretcher, and it did not work. I tried to scream so my partner would wake up, could not scream. I managed to break myself out of it somehow.. it was so weird.. never again… I have not slept on the stretcher since. The edible kicked in towards the end of the hour and a half long drive and I felt like my face was melting by the time we made it to the stage. After competition, we have a “clinic” where we work with university level choir teachers and the teacher pointed at me and loudly declared that my face was the only one that matched the tone of the song - terror. I panicked thinking he was on to me and started crying. Luckily, our teacher explained it away because I have panic disorder. I live in Missouri and the fields near my parents home, usually don't smell bad.The fields are normally full of corn, and beans. But one year the farmers planted turnips. No they were not farming them for food. They let them rot in the ground to add nutrients back to the over usued soil. The smell was awful. The first time I drove by it I gagged, and tried to figure out what the horroble smell assaulting my nose was. We finally figured it out, and understood the reason, but were unhappy about the smell. Think rotten potatoes add skunk smell, and top it off with the smell of cow dung. I hated driving by the fields and would take the long way around to avoid them. The only problem was we lived right next to one of the fields so if the wind was blowing towards us from it you couldn't help but get slapped in the face by the smell. I spent as little time outside that summer as I could. I am very happy I now have my own place in town, so I won't have to drive by it anytime soon.

Honestly, as someone who lives in Iowa, I am definitely nose blind. My best friend moved here from Kentucky and she says Iowa smells terrible but I had never known until she said it

One time I had sleep paralysis while laying on my back with one arm outstretched palm up. I didn’t see anything but i couldn’t move and was annoyed: all of the sudden it felt like someone grabbed my open hand and yanked my arm towards off the bed. Suddenly I could move but now couldn’t sleep 😂

The Jack in the Box story. Could you imagine if it was a woman driving her boyfriend home, and she said no I don’t want to get food, I just want to go to sleep, and this drunk guy sitting next to her starts throwing a fit and calling her names? Saying some “really bad stuff”? The boyfriend in this story is not “obligated” to do anything but get his girlfriend home safe. And if he doesn’t want to stop anywhere, he shouldn’t have to. No means no.

Not going to lie, I think Morgan was being super bias as a fellow ‘drunk girlie’ and her commenting first on stories like this make some of her guests answers biased as well. Swap it with just two guys doing this and the drunk guy would be the belligerent AH. I don’t see how it’s controlling to just want to go home and not put up with a drunk person’s bs because they chose to get drunk.

    The dentist story, two things:
    1. The "in my mouth" joke is over used. The only way that could have phased him is if he just graduated. Honestly it would been a joke he heard during his clinical in school.
    2. He was breathing heavy because it is so annoying when people lick you or follow you around with their tongue when you are trying to work with sharp tools. It is not always worth telling people to stop. Many won't, others can't.

That head phone thing happened to me only with a Bluetooth speaker and it was my dad. Worst part was that I was watching two women. Legit my dad came up to me later that week and asked if there was something I wanted to tell him. I had to explain to him that I’m not into women and that I just like that particular genre. I think he’s still waiting for me to admit I’m switching sides. Idk how many times I have to say I’ve tried getting down with women and it isn’t my thing. I don’t think he’ll ever believe me. 🙄

I used to get sleep paralysis once a week when I was on antidepressants years ago, weirdly enough the figures looked a lot like that 😅 my first one I couldn’t move at all except to open my eyes, and there was a figure smiling at me in the coroner of the room while what sounded like a child was saying “He’s going to kill youuu” in like a sing songy voice, lasted about 5 minutes until I was able to fully wake up, slept with every light on for weeks after that 😅 it’s absolutely terrifying

That story is actually kind of scary because as my friend has sleep paralysis she’s talked about it and it’s basically when your mind wakes up before your body does. So you’re fully conscious you just can’t move or talk. Which makes me wonder if there was actually someone there.

As someone who has suffered it. Ive had sleep paralysis and ive had dreams of having it. Theres a difference between the two. The fear i have have felt during SP is like nothing i have ever experienced in waking life or in a dream. The utter hatred that eminated off the figure (a cloaked hag) has left me with no doubt that its a real thing. There are versions of this figure in many cultures. I had never heard of it the first few times i had it. It makes no sense that so many people would share a common similar theme/experience.

I’ve never had hallucinations but the sleep paralysis I’ve had is the scariest shit ever. Just the sheer panic of not being able to move, also doesn’t help that I’m claustrophobic so not being able to move is terrifying.

I’ve had sleep paralysis off and on for years and sometimes it can get scary as heck. One time I felt someone breathing on the side of my face like an inch away (I was like 15 and was in my room alone) and couldn’t turn my head to look or move at all and it took like 2 minutes of it happening to snap out of it and it went away, first time it happened to me and I almost peed myself.

here's my weed horror story. for a lil context, i was driving and i'm on antidepressants. so basically, it was my friend's birthday and we decided to go bowling while we were high. so me, the birthday girl and our other friend went to a empty parking lot around 8-9pm. i only took TWO hits, because i have smoked before and knew it didn't effect me that much. so we get into the car and drive the whole 2 minutes to the bowling alley. at this time, i started to feel so out of my body. it was an experience i have never felt before. finally i park, and immediately turn down the heat (this was in the beginning of march in new jersey) then, i decide to take off my north face jacket, and my sweatshirt and lay on the freezing grass. the birthday girl ended up going into the bowling alley to get me food and a drink. i took one bite of a french fry and almost immediately threw it up. now at this point it was 9:50 and my mom was wondering where i was, but i couldn't tell her i was high. so i tried to sleep it off before my curfew so i could bring my friends home. i ended up sleeping until 11pm, where i had to call my two older brothers to come pick us up since i still felt awful. needless to say, my mom found out, and i haven't smoked since.

My dentist and I are actually pretty close. We both went to the same college for undergrad and live in the same town. We talk about school a lot. We’ve even run into eachother at homecoming... He has told me I have a frequent gagging flag on my chart due to my overactive gag reflex. 😂

that drawing looks pretty friendly :). Sleep paralysis sucks I`ve woken up drenched in sweat. At some point I learned to control it better and realized I`m asleep it`s all good I`ll wake up soon. Now I haven`t had it in a while.
