Mine was a intercultural love marriage hubby and I pooled our money equally and it was used to manage all the expenditure. It was a very simple and modest affair. He refused to take any dowry of any form. We'll teach the same to our future kids too

The family at my great grandpa's time, my grandpa's time, my uncles' and father's time not even 1 relative asked for even 1 rupee from their to-be-wives. It's only in past 20 years I can see many families are following the "Fashion" of dowries. I might be only half-right, but don't think in old times dowry system was as much as it is today. Though maybe not the best, this idea is still better or at least more logical than the one where an Indian dad loses both his daughter as well as his wealth and the groom is probably an irresponsible fellow 🙂
