Looks great..Your lucky to have the access to the timber that you can mill and plane etc. would be really expensive to go to a lumberyard.. well done..
Dan talks about Insiding at about the @15:00 mark! I think its unique & looks cool - might be a touch more tricky to dust over a regular wall but I don't see any downsides. That place looks like its going to be so cozy! figuratively and literally with it being ICF!
Appreciate your sharing your experience and creative expertise. It does have an appealing simplistic appearance. Well done. Stay safe, strong, healthy, wise and successful in His Holy Name. ☝🙏🙌💪
Dan and Sheryl I just love your home and how it is looking. Dan, shame on you for not getting Sheryl a draw knife! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of the Adirondack siding on the walls. Strange how that ONE board stayed there til JUST as you were about to start screwing it in, and then fell..LOVE the natural shapes on the boards, they make their own design as you are installing them.
Dan, it looks stunning in my opinion. I loved the look of the she-shed and I'm so glad you are giving it a try in the house too. I stayed in a cabin where they had something similar in the Big Sur, the smell even in a twenty year old cabin was still pretty great. My uncle's house in west Wales, now converted to an outward bound centre, has old pitch-pine ship-lap walls and celings and that still smells good too, and that dates back to the 1870s. It's going to look (and smell) terrific when it's finished, I hope you get to move in this summer? I've moved into a small (alms house) apartment now, but it has 18th century panelling on some of the walls. Looks great, though painted, and of course no timber smell! One wall even has the panelling stripped off and an even older timber framework showing, perhaps 17th century? You are just updating, in your own unique way, what those guys back in the day would have done. A great combination of modern building tech and old style cabin living - updated. Hopefully the best of both worlds?
Tycker det ser unikt ut,om jag får tycka något? Så bygger ni in mycket brandfarliga material i huset även om det är ett betonghus i grunden. Obs! Plast + trä brinner snabbt t ex ( Valensia Spanien)
Very enthusiastic about the rest of the wood paneling, not so much about the lap siding inside. But, I am not a fan of wild edge lumber which is all the rage. I grew up next to a circular saw one man sawmill where I helped once in a while. 'Natural edge' we called a 'slab' and it went in the burn pile. So I am just naturally inclined to consider them the same in my old age as well. We were on the ocean so of course he had a 'log pond' where we spent a lot of time ''rolling logs' and falling in. Good times. Sitka Spruce, Western Hemlock, Red and Yellow Cedar were the commercial species.
No fire tape on the lid. By simply taping the ceiling not double coating or sanding just tape could mean the difference in time to get loved ones out in the event of a fire. Taping buys you time , well worth it.
I love it and at my last house out of 8 rooms we had 3 1/2 inch t and g beaded in the Den and 2 small bedrooms. and all the floors were pergo wood flooring. Now that we had to down size it's an open concept and I absoluley hate it. Who ever came up with this desgn was on some serious brain frying drugs.. If my health was'nt so bad and I was30 years younger I would start over and build my own house.
Anything wood , you could never go wrong that siding your referring too it would be awesome ( in my thoughts ) if you just did it like Waynes coating and only go up about 36” and cap it with a 1x2 then shiplap from there to the ceiling

Very nice job top quality craftsman at work
Love the look of that finished wall. As for what others think, it's not what we like, it's what you like that matters.
Well done you two! God bless ya’ll . Keep on keeping on until He returns!
Love love that live edge wall! Wonderful creation!

Beautiful effect. Very wild😁
That wall looks amazing. When you started I thought you had lost it but you definitely know your timber.❤

If you both like it, it's good!
Helluva great job, Dan!
I like it. Wouldn't want it in my room though too much texture, while I prefer plain walls in a bedroom. Amazing how far you've come.

I once did an inside wall with cedar shingles but got tired of it in time . I really like your inside siding though. :)
Dan great job as usual, I like the interior walls.
