Strangely that the stacked sensor was not mentioned on DJI website, but was stated by some reviewers. I saw a night mode comparison of the new Air 3 and it is indeed an improvement. I am leaning on Air 3 because of the telephoto lens, C1 rated, and very good flight time. I was thinking of Mavic 3 Pro but at the moment I am leaning on Air 3.
A lot seems to fail to understand that this is a drone with 2 cameras (two!) and do fly in C1 classification which is HUGE. There is nothing bad to say and Air 3 is an instant buy.
Of course if you already have a mini 3 and a mavic 3 there is no point in having the air 3. But as single drone is much better than any of them for a marginal price difference respect to the mini.
The AIR 3 simply has more to offer, such as better obstacle detection, extra lens, longer flight time, etc. It is true that you fly in a different class because it is heavier. I don't think it makes sense that the AIR 3 is being criticized.
I enjoy honest reviews like yours. I've really gone off the RUclips channels who get the new drones for free, prior to release date, who only go on about how fantastic the new drones over the previous models etc. In a few weeks, when ordinary people do their reviews, people will realise that what you have said is 100% accurate. I have several drones, including the Mavic 3 (original one) and the Mini 3 pro. Your video echoes my thoughts exactly. Well done 👍. Won't be long until normal people post real life video's.
The air 3 has the same resolution sensor as the mini 3 pro but there is a big difference you did not mention?? The air 3 is a stacked bsi sensor…this is the first of its kind in a drone and will give significant difference in quality.
If it really was an upgrade and so much better as you claim, I’m curious of why DJI does not state this themselves, not in the promo video nor on the website. I can also color grade 2 different shots and make one look better than the other, just to get some revenue? But I don’t
@@RobHK Pretty much all the reviewers are saying how good the quality is despite the smaller sensor. Ultimately, the proof is in the pudding and taste is subjective.
with all these drones, mini 3pro, air2s, air3, mavic 3, realistically in daytime most people would not notice any difference in image quality from the main camera, and anyone can grade one to look like the other. the advantage of the air 3 and mavic 3/ 3pro are extra cameras, since when you digital zoom from the drones with one cameras it would be very obvious its not good. so basically i see this air 3 as a better drone than the air 2s, mini 3 pro and even the mavic 3 classic, for most use cases. unless you dont zoom at all and you only take videos in extreme low light, which isnt what most people do.
I appreciate your thoughts on this but I chose the Air 3. I can’t afford nor can I justify the increased price of any Mavic 3 in that I only fly recreational and don’t make money flying my drone. Also I had an Air 2S (I lost it because of user error of my own making ) and I do consider this an upgrade. The two cameras, far longer flight times with the bigger batteries, and Ocusync 4 are major improvements. I’m extremely happy with my choice.
Thanks, a well presented take on these drones. Loving the latest iterations from DJI, we really have to resist jumping in and spending money we don’t need to I guess, although if you’re like me I have a very sweet tooth and the current DJI sweatshop has just gotten a great big boost! I agree with your rationale here, my Min3P,A2S and M3 have me pretty much sorted for my user case for now, although I would like to test drive a A3 from a piloting perspective over the A2S for inspections etc., and then there’s the flight time. The A2S is very good for stills with dng files for post editing, I do print my images, and it has very good dr. As I get into video more and more my perspective will likely change though as I try and stay. below 900gm’s. Thanks for your hard work making these video. 👌
And in Europe in January 2024 Air 2S will have C3 classification. This is why I think I’ll go for the mavic 3 classic as my 2nd drone iso a second hand Air 2S
I think this drone will be good choice for those who just consider purchasing of drone. If compare with mini 3 pro with rc controller and extending batary the difference in price with air 3 not so huge. But air 3 will be more suitable for different whether conditions.
Exactly my thoughts. My Mini 2 was my first drone. I still have it and i still fly it. But living here in the Chicago area our winds are strong at least half the time. I ordered an Air 3 as an upgrade because of the transmission upgrade, the tele camera, and most importantly the greater wind resistance.
Give it 6 months and the Air3s will be released, DJI are very clever and nothing can currently match them, I have the Mini 2 and 4 other of its DJI brothers, but tend to fly Sub 250g as it’s far easier to carry and currently with less regulation, I see sub 250g as the future of the hobby, and my next purchase will be the Mini 3 Pro or the rumoured Mini 4 if released.
Thanks for the honesty when most RUclipsre that get sent drones ahead of launch "arent sponsored by DJI" but their videos are just trying to sell you the Air 3. For my part, if I can now find the Air 2s discounted I'm getting that, otherwise the Mini 3 pro or Mavic 3 classic as you said in the video.
I am yet to see a compelling reason for upgrading my Mavic 2 Pro, let alone one of the 10(!) models that have been released since then. Every time DJI roll out a new drone I compare the footage with video I've shot with my M2Pro and I'm simply underwhelmed by what I see. Quickshots etc are just gimmicks, obstacle avoidance is largely pointless, 100fps is nice I guess but not something I'd ever use that often, battery life I don't have an issue switching out etc etc. The 70mm is nice but the fact that everything's in focus takes away from the look of the parallax shots you can take with it. I agree with you - it's a pretty pointless model - if you want to dodge registration and restrictions you'd get the mini 3 pro and if you want a larger drone you'd get the Mavic 3.
Hi Rob. Thanks for your review. I plan to take a drone to Norway in February. I will be in the Reins area. How good is the Mini 3 Pro shooting in winter in Norway? Thanks a lot, Lee.
If range of transmission is significant greater then Air2S or even Mini2 in CE mode for EU countries, then this drone is no match for other and would buy. For me reliability on greater distance is all about. Power to see and experiance more, to cover more square km is what i find DJI comparing to other companies is what really attract me to DJI. i hope this drone out perform with greater range in CE mode other drones in DJI range, otherwise is not worthed to buy.
Getting ready to purchase the mini 3 pro but certainly keeping my air 2s for those instances where its really windy. The air 2s can fly in some insane windy conditions. Mini 3 pro and air 2s are perfect for consumer hobbyist pilots. Ha ha my phantom 4 pro v2 still rocks.
I´m not considering buying the Mini 3 pro, either I´m considering buying the Mavic 3 Pro, but now with the Air 3 I´m not sure what to buy. What are your opinions? (I´m going to use it for commercial work)
Just a Mini 3 Pro with 2 cameras, I'm fairly disappointed since in the real world you won't ever use the features like the tracking..etc, I guess I'll hold onto my Air 2s for the next few years
Good afternoon, perhaps the night mode is an important difference between the mini3pro and the air3. It would be interesting to see the difference between night recordings between the two drones. Thank you
I can't agree with nearly anything you say here. You seem pretty bitter that DJI didn't send you an Air 3 to try out. It is an improvement over the Mini 3 Pro in everything except weight. In fact, I'd say it's much closer (almost identical) to a standard Mavic 3 than a Mini 3 Pro.
I think you’ve missed a lot of the features that the mini 3 pro doesn’t have, I like the drone but the reason I won’t be getting it as in the uk I won’t have the almost complete lack of restrictions I have with my mini 3 pro.
I’ve had the Air 2 for three years and it’s been an excellent drone. I’ve been waiting for the Air 3 for a while, but now seeing the specs and especially after your video I am leaning towards selling my Air 2 and getting a Mini 3 Pro. The 70mm lens would be cool along with the extra range and obstacle sensing, but probably not worth the extra size and cost over the mini.
@@ridencampp I got a mini three pro and it’s got nothing about fogging . Just take it back to for care refresh and they will fix or check it . I’m loving my mini three pro with 5 batteries. The only two cons for me if I wanna have another drone could be Omni sensors and better handling in crazy winds . Just that confidence I need . I got all my ND filters set and the images coming from the mini 3 pro is just amazing 😻.
No doubt, DJI will make money on this new drone. I currently own and use the Mavic Mini 3 Pro. I've seen video, side by side from the new Air 3 vs the Mini 3 Pro and I see a slight difference, but, to me, I cannot see spending a grand (USD) or more on this new drone. This new drone is perfect for someone who currently owns a toy drone and is ready to step up to the real thing. Another plus is someone who doesn't mind spending money on such a small amount of upgrades. And, lastly, this new drone is perfect for someone who wants bragging rights.

No, you miss the point of «my personal opinion» and you base your search off of paid reviews where people have to favor the product. This is my personal take on it, and i believe most people value that
Already have Mavic 3 and Mini 3 pro, did not upgrade to Mavic 3 Pro because they did not put proper variable optical zoom to at least 7x on the main large sensor camera which I hoped they would. Instead, they added 2 extra lesser quality cameras with fixed lens to get two extra stops of optical zoom for which you have to stop recording in order to switch to instead of getting a nice progressive optical zoom which I would have liked. And what hate most is that they force you to get another same drone and controller instead of just switching the camera. They do this on purpose to fleece their customers to max, I think. So needless to say, I did not get the Air 3 which is a repeat and in my opinion a rubbish way of doing things. They must put proper variable optical zoom on a good large sensor camera like that Hasselblad before I buy another drone from them, especially when you have to hack their drones every time to get rid of their stupid big brother flight restrictions.
Currently fly Nano+ (essentially Mini 3 pro) and it’s ok, but the Air 3 better sensor, 2 cameras, better object avoidance, better flight time, better wind resistance and waypoints make it a very attractive option.
bcoz you have latest before drone and working and air 4 and mavic 4 out corner. next time maybe its 1inch real censor allready but if it your first drone then it latest its prob best LOL
