You can use the NLB mobile app to borrow books by scanning the barcode or QR code without going to the kiosk to transact borrowing of books. In addition, you can borrow ebooks (additional app need to be installed to read ebooks) or extend your borrowed books (of course, certain terms and conditions apply for extension of borrowed books). Ask librarian for help to create login account for the NLB mobile app. You can borrow books in one library branch and return the books in another library branch with incurring additional cost.
you are correct, the fruit is called Jambu wrapped to keep preying birds away, typically sliced and eaten with dark soya sauce, chilli and sugar mix. thanks for sharing your singapoore journey. from a fan in Toronto.
@@internationalfamily7361 It is called rose apple. It is seasonal and you may find it in most supermarket or fruit stalls. They are usually imported from Thailand or Malaysia.
That’s “safed jamun” also known by many other names including jambu, wax apple, love apple, java apple, rose-apple or bell fruit. The plastic wrappings are to prevent birds and insects from eating them. 😊 BTW Have you visited the Main National Library?

What you should know about CNY (Chinese New Year) which falls on 12 Feb 2021: Most government and commercial offices closed at 1 pm on 11 Feb. Most Chinese owned food outlets including markets, hawker centers are closed for business at various times on New Year's Eve. So do your regular food suppliers who you can ask if they are closing early. So its a good idea to stock up on food items including from your supermarkets. Some might reopen by the weekend others by the following Monday. Do your shopping early like 4 or 5 days before 12 Feb or you might be caught in the mad rush at checkout counters at the supermarkets. Hope it helps.
