I live in an apartment community a few block away and go on walks along the path that runs between these homes and the canyon at least once a week. There is often a breeze but nothing like today. I was there at 4:00 today and the wind was insane. Then we got cleared out by the OC fire helicopters that were telling everyone to vacate. So sad to see these homes burn down.
This is just horrible.. watching these peoples twelve bedroom mansions go up in flames is just devastating. I hope and pray that they get the help they will desperately need. 🙏🙏🙏

The biggest shock is the FD or OCFA calling low moisture content in the brush as the reason. That is preposterous. Say what ? To those who don't know the area, it is 700 feet to the surf, and precipitation is dripping off that brush each day from the onshore flow. But ok, if you want THAT guy running the show, carry on. SMH. May 11 was a small fire. And you saw how they handled it. This is the early start of the fire season where these type of fires get knocked down at 5-10 acres. Yikes.

Orange County has very strict building codes for fire also usually sprinklers are required inside the homes near brush areas. So this is strange to see.

Some things to know are that wildfires skip around a bit, not necessarily burning everything; that wildfire runs up hills and down canyons; and that wildfires spread via embers carried by the wind.
