i was always told to keep the arm straight (elbow locked) when throwing. interesting to see some of the higher rev rate bowlers break the elbow and snap is straight on release. tommy jones, amleto, etc.
That's exactly what Brian Voss teaches in his book "Bare Bones Bowling," i.e., having the arm slightly bent in the downswing then "popping" it at release for the reason you cite. Brian was never a power bowler. Very smooth and deliberate, and these days he needs every edge he can get with today's power players.
It happens naturally if you keep your arm in a straight swing plane. Monacelli over emphasizes it. Pete Weber is a good example too, you can also see especially well in these two guys form how keeping your arm in a straight swing plane also keeps all the weight on the index finger throughout the entire swing as long as you're holding the ball right with a spread index finger and you're dropping your shoulder at the correct time to get under the ball. wink wink :)
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else trying to find out bowls lessons hook try Berts bowls guide (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin got cool success with it.
+MISSY „Cleopatra Jones“ ROBERTS He just plays his own style... Theres no right or wrong way to bowl and with his style he is one of the most versatile players on the Tour
Thanks, now I finally know why I leave the 10 sometimes. When I hit to far right, my ballspeed is to slow to get that bounceback auf the 6. So I have to move in further so the 3 pushes the 6 into the 10 directly.
For the people asking, the background song is just used for videos and whatnot. Its called Piano Emotional by e-soundtrax. Whoever wrote that is gifted for sure. ruclips.net/video/lZ2e3IKCNpw/видео.html
I used to do the wam slam, then graduated to more of an aqua boogie when I adjusted my finger drift. Now I'm popping up swingalings about 99% of the time.
Melee Jab is a terrific ball. Still in my arsenal going on 4 years after its release. Gets you down the lane with ease with a great response to the dry.
But to be quite honest, what does a bit of a gut have to do with bowling? Bowling's one of the few sports that doesn't require you to be in peak physical condition to participate and perform well in. No judgement necessary here.
+MISSY “Cleopatra Jones” HART Not really, I'm just stating what everyone knows. Personally I don't see any reason to ridicule PROFESSIONAL athletes, who get paid more than you probably ever will, based on the way they look. Wes Mallott may weigh upwards of 300 lbs or more, but I can promise you he's a damn better bowler than you can ever dream of being.
+MISSY “Cleopatra Jones” HART You referencing players such as Malott, Williams, and DeVaney? Well look at Mallot, the bigger you are the more power you get. He puts a boatload of revs on that ball. This is similar to football in which the bigger and stronger you are, the more of an advantage you have.
archery, rifle shooting, nfl linemen, billiards, , sumo wrestlers.....many professional sports dont require physical shape, some are more technique oriented as well.
+2hands Bowling Junky I think he polished it, Tommy has been playing with that Paradox for a while. Watch the Weber Cup (European Bowling channel here in youtube), he played with it most of the tournament and it did look shiny and it was a couple of weeks ago. There was someone else that also used it, I think it was O'neill.....now O'niell here is using the new Limited Edition Black Widow (US OPEN version + colors)
This is exactly what I'm looking for today ❤❤❤.
1:45 Lavoie has a really unique release. His wrist isn't very cuffed. He loads up right at the bottom of his swing.
This is art
There's a lot of great stuff to watch beyond the releases. Finish position, ball motions, and what type of pocket hits carry the 10 more consistently.
loved seeing tommy jones in this shot. he's got a great release. would love to see wes malot
i was always told to keep the arm straight (elbow locked) when throwing. interesting to see some of the higher rev rate bowlers break the elbow and snap is straight on release. tommy jones, amleto, etc.
a They do that to create more revolutions on the ball. The more under the ball your hand is, the more revs you get.

Brilliant!

+MISSY „Cleopatra Jones“ ROBERTS He just plays his own style...
Theres no right or wrong way to bowl and with his style he is one of the most versatile players on the Tour
+AlterSchwede WieGeil 100% agree! I love his release!
+MISSY “Cleopatra Jones” ROBERTS well he's a pro. don't h8.
I also look down the lane instead of the pins when throwing the ball haha
LuchoVena no one should be looking at the pins so you're fine lol
3:37 Pause and add an explotion and a zombie apocalypse behind Sean there, and you have the next action movie of the year.
Walking dead theme starts playing
So great 😥😥😥😥
THAT MUSIC

The Sport of Bowling - USBC
I'm trying to find out.... but you might like a similar melody called "Divenire" by Ludovico Einaui.
no it's different
10% hand...90% equipment
Still waiting for the king of swing.
+ScubzMcTalBowling Fagan isn't bowling. He's going back to school for his Master's
+Dean Joseph smart man then. Not as much money in bowling anymore.
Mike Fagan is retired
I wonder what oil pattern this is. I notice they are all shooting from the inside, hitting 4th to 5th arrow.
its the u.s open pattern. 40ft flat
Flat
My favorite is bill oneill
I used to do the wam slam, then graduated to more of an aqua boogie when I adjusted my finger drift. Now I'm popping up swingalings about 99% of the time.
What?
Is Rash using a Melee or the new (unreleased) Melee Hook?
he used melee jab
Melee Jab is a terrific ball. Still in my arsenal going on 4 years after its release. Gets you down the lane with ease with a great response to the dry.
I didn't see Pete Weber(in other video too)
He may not have participated in that particular tournament.
Tommy and Amleto have the best forms by far.
We need more bowlers like them. It's sad watching the finals and seeing half the field with fat stomachs.

The first thing I see all of them do is break their legs
What jesper throws something other than urethane what!!!!!!!!!!
Gage Knutson even tho this a year later I laughed when I saw this comment lol cause it’s soooooo true lol
The music makes it that much better... ended with my boy Sean Rash!!!

Just about everyone rolls it the exact same way
not for beginners
Paradox is matte
