6:11-6:20 *Brad:* _If we put 30 minutes to an hour of work here on feel and then just go directly into our full five-step approach, it may not translate very quickly._ That’s exactly what I noticed yesterday at practice while working on getting used to a tighter thumbhole. Although I went from foul line to one-step to three-step to full approach. I lost the feel for coming out of the ball without reverting to my bad habit of squeezing/grabbing the ball. Thank you, Brad and Kyle, for pointing this out.
I was working on this very thing in practice yesterday. I struggle to stay under the ball because I don’t have enough wrist strength. I found a way to get my hand a little more on the side of the ball (like how a few of the ladies in the PWBA release it).
I am a natural 1 handed bowler. I spent 3 full games trying to bowl 2 handed. I put up higher numbers each game as the understanding of how to properly release the ball grew. I have put up consistent 640 series lately since I tried to understand the 2 hand release. Very good advice. Thanks
Absolutely love you guys and your show. My son is a bowler and met you guys at the Luci tournament in Copperfield the last two years. You guys were awesome and kind to everyone, which was so awesome. I'm watching videos to enjoy bowling. My son is too advanced and refuses to entertain me with my bowling......Keep up the awesome work. Wow, you guys handed Donna Conners a check for $6k!!!! That was so very cool. Donna Conners/Carol Norman are awesome.... Thanks Guys.
So, as an older person who has been working on this, I have finally had some success. For me it was some pitch changes and a slightly shortened span which helped. One problem, I picked up rev rate but now I have control issues as my speed didn't change. While I see much more reaction downlane, I can't control it now and can't afford to re-do my stuff. Any ideas?
I'd like to know what your grip pressure is and where it is. I cannot completely relax my hand because the ball doesn't come off as quickly as when I add a slight amount of grip pressure. However, where and how I apply that grip pressure means a lot as well
Very good lesson!! Next video: how to properly use your legs. I hear it all the time but I don't know what to feel for? On house I'm around 210 avg around 300rpm, maybe 15 mph, 14 lbs weight. I don't know how to properly use my legs to generate speed. I do have a fast approach and run to the line. But don't know what to feel for.... please help
You’ll need to make sure your fingers are below the equator of the ball prior to the release. As for the shoulder, focus on your non-throwing arm. Notice how Brad and Kyle’s non-throwing arm. The shoulders will work together and when you are forcing the ball with your shoulder, you’ll feel your throwing shoulder push forward prior to your non-throwing arm. You want a loose, relaxed swing. Hope this helps!
I have a silly question, should have known the answer years ago. When the ball is in your hand, should it sit flat and flush to your palm or is there that gap in between the ball and your hand?
Thanks for the bowling tip! Keep them coming guys. Kyle your my guy, that's why I'm giving you this tip. The neck hairs are not doing you any justice buddy 😂..
I can do all the foul line drills, but as soon as I put a slide step into the drill, my wrist breaks down every time. My solution was to plug all my thumb holes. It added 30 pins to my average in less than a month. I'll never put my thumb back in a ball. Never.
I need help. I'm a 22 year experienced bowler. Average 190. However. I can NOT keep my hand behind and under the ball. My arm goes to the side of the ball, and on the top of the ball like explained in this video. No matter how many times I do this drill, and practice I just can't do it. Is there any tips anyone has? Or do I just give up bowling forever?
Question. If this video is catering to a beginner bowler, shouldn't you guys have started with instructing the folks at home to be sure they put their fingers in the ball FIRST before they put their thumb in the ball to ensure the ball comes off the hand properly?
Please do more videos yall have stayed 3 hr vlogs of just talking that's not what bowlers want...I know you want people to pay for classes but don't forget your roots.
I don't know how common this is, but the house I bowl at does 3 free games every day for summer league bowlers (and if I ask, they'll usually let me bowl a 4th or even 5th game for free on top of that). I'd see if you can find a local house that has leagues with free games and find a team to join.
Grab a carpet and a thick pillow and practice no step at home. I usually put down some beach towels under a small carpet(doormat) and use the cushions on my sofa as a backboard and do no steps.

Good stuff. New to bowling & struggling to learn proper release. Explicit instruction. Thanks, guys.

Good video! Bowling is such a fun sport
I bowl with a handy cap but this is very helpful
Brad and Kyle truly modern day Ambassadors of the sport!
Good information, especially touching on how it affects your brain reaction. Sounds complete. Laura

Try surface change to match your game
So, with keeping your hand under and behind the bowling ball, how would this work if your wrist won't let you?

i will add I think im struggling trying to do 4 or 5 step approach it like i always trip over myself

Been working on this for months and to say I'm on the struggle bus is an understatement! It feels like I'm driving a truck pulling 3 trailers.
What an awesome channel!
How do you uncoil a Normal release with thumb ?

@@markdeering5129 appreciate it thanks,
@4:19
Thanks for the lesson! Personally, I prefer this content over another ball review. I can watch Tang's or Luke R. for those.
Thank you for leaving an example of a miscue in. #Wetalkingaboutpractice
Kyle: "I'm not really tryna hook the ball"
Also Kyle: _sinks it into the pocket, leaves a stone 8_
Can u do a video on how to stop drifting
Drifting is fine as long as you drift to the same spot. You can also stop crossing your first step, just walk normal.
@roanldfrazier1215 I feel like I am walking normal but sometimes I drift 2times as much

Thanks for the bowling tip! Keep them coming guys.
Kyle your my guy, that's why I'm giving you this tip. The neck hairs are not doing you any justice buddy 😂..
why do you hold the bowl with the thumb facing the pins?
Brad, nice match at Nationals. Congrats
Also how do I know if I’m swinging with my shoulder ?

They are great tips, it’s hard for people to drop $20 $30 doin foul line drills.
I hear you, can't afford it and don't have unlimited access to lanes.
Nobody asked, but full beard Kyle>>>mustache Kyle
"What did we learn today?".....We learned that Kyle can leave a stone 8, even with no ball speed and no revs.😁
A stone 8 is garbage for a right hander lol….????💀💀💀 that means absolutely no power no continuation.
Can I do this with a lighter ball? I’m afraid of re-injuring my elbow.

Would it kill you guys to do a ball review?
Ah haha Ah he said stroking it down the lane

i practice releasing into my sofa😂
Foul line drills are fine BUT, it costs us $5.00 a game or more to practice this. You probably get to practice for free.
Become a league bowler and will be cheaper

You could use your couch at home as well.
